Prior to writing romance, award-winning, USA Today Bestseller Melinda Curtis was a junior manager for a Fortune 500 company, which meant when she flew on the private jet she was relegated to the jump seat—otherwise known as the potty. After grabbing her pen (and a parachute) she made the jump to full-time writer. Between writing sweet romance and sweet romantic comedy, Melinda finds time to bond with her husband over home remodeling projects. She recently came to grips with the fact that she’s an empty nester and a grandma, concepts easier to grasp than jet-setting on a potty.

In this third outing with The Mountain Monroes, we follow Sophie as she finds her calling and her Happily Ever After. Sophie is a divorcée with twin four year olds. She had been the curator of the Monroe art collection before she was kicked out of the family businesses like her siblings and cousins. While in Second Chance Idaho, she stumbled into the old Trading Post and began to explore. Her decision to open a store selling the treasures she finds in town necessitated finding someone to look after the boys while at work. Enter cowboy, Zeke Roosevelt. In the first book in the series we meet Zeke after he suffers a compound fracture of his leg and he is now recuperating at the Lodgepole Inn. Because he can not yet return to his life as a working cowboy, he takes the role of Nanny to Andrew and Alexander.
I really enjoyed this story. Zeke is amazing with the boys, but he has a secret. He is completely smitten with Sophie, but it is his secret that he feels will keep Sophie from ever wanting a relationship with him. As we get to know Zeke, I felt so many different things for him. He has a lot of baggage from his youth that made him the man he was, and it took some time, some help from his friends and some soul searching to move beyond those roadblocks he has set up. Sophie is insecure about her place in the family. She always felt inferior to her siblings and she is not sure whether this store will be what she wants and needs, or if it will support her family. She also questions if she is doing what is best for her boys, remaining in Second Chance. I will say that the scenes with the boys are adorable, as they are cute, rambunctious, honest, vulnerable and loving. Shane is still working behind the scenes to find something to save the town, yet make it profitable. This story also showcases Roy the town handyman and we get to see another side of him. There are some humorous scenes, some scary ones and a few romantic ones that had my emotions all over. The story moves at a great pace, with various storylines that all pull together at the end. The dialogue is wonderful, with both humour and some sadness. I continue to love this series, and am all set to read the next book in the series, Lassoed by the Would-Be Rancher, Shane's story. I received this book from the author upon my request. the rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.
Rescued by the Perfect Cowboy is another fun addition to the Mountain Monroes series! I love the way these books build upon each other and I definitely recommend reading them in order. I do think these novels could be enjoyed as stand alone books, however, there is definitely an overarching theme and mystery from the past that the characters are working to uncover regarding their grandfather and the town of Second Chance.
Zeke and Sophie were a clear example of opposites attract. I have liked them from previous books, and although I didn’t connect with them as deeply in this story as I did with other couples from the previous books, I was happy to see Zeke and Sophie work through the various obstacles that arose in their relationship. Sophie’s boys were full of energy and added humor and some sweet moments to the story. I’m looking forward to reading more in the series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
I love Second Chance so much! I am really enjoying this roller coaster ride with the Monroe grandchildren, unlocking more and more secrets. With each building they open up, we learn more and more. I can't wait to find out more of what Grandpa's great plan was!
As for Sophie and Zeke. AAAAHHH! I love Zeke so much. Sophie's boys sure pull at the heartstrings too.
I love this book! Sophie is one the many grand children who inherited "Second Chance". Recently divorced and raising four year old energetic twins, she decides to start a business. She can no longer bring her mischievous children with her to look at inventory. Sophie hires Zeke as her temporary nanny, Zeke is still recovering from a broken leg. Being a nanny is not his usual profession. This book has it all laughs, tears, sibling issues, and lots of advice from the locals. These two have lots of baggage from their past that needs to be confronted and put in the past. Can they do it? and have their happily ever after? A must to read <3
Book three in the Mountain Monroe series. I’m still absolutely loving this series. I like that there’s an ongoing storyline happening in the town that arcs over all the books in the series. Keeps me wanting to know what’s going to happen next!!
I might pause for a bit on it to get some other authors read, but I do plan to continue this series soon!
This series is wonderful!! And as usual I can’t wait for the next book! This one reads a little slow compared to the other books in the series, but it’s still an excellent read!
Ive been anxious to read Zeke and Sophie's story ever since the first book in the series! You don't have to read the previous books to know what's happening with them as the author "fills you in" quite well so you know what is going on. However, I love all these books so reading this story is a treat! Sophie has been an art curator but has settled in the small town of Second Chance after her grandfather had a stipulation in his will. She wants to open a "treasure and curio" shop with all the things she's found in the old town but that means she has to go through it all and she can't with two rambunctious twins taking all her time so she hires Zeke, an injured cowboy who is on the mend from a broken leg, to be her "nanny" for awhile. Everyone thinks that's hilarious but Sophie finds out that is just what the boys need. I truly loved Zeke's character. He was so sweet and true to himself. He never tried to be anyone else but who he was. However, he never felt worthy of Sophie because she was so "educated and wealthy". It's that age old problem! I loved the changes that both of them went through to move towards each other. The boys were darling! There was a lot of humor too! Be sure to pick this one up!
"Rescued by the Perfect Cowboy" (The Mountain Monroes Book 3) by Melinda Curtis is a wonderful read. I loved Sophie, Zeke, Alexander and Andrew's story. This is a great addition to the series, packed with romance, humor, small-town life, new beginnings, family and friends, entertaining characters, and more. I can't wait to read what happens next with this cast of characters in "Lassoed by the Would-be Rancher". Highly recommend to all fans of clean romance, entertaining characters, and series.
Sophie and Zeke may be from different worlds and have vastly different childhoods and families, but none of that matters when it comes to the sizzle of attraction between them.
Rescued by the Perfect Cowboy is a book about looking past prejudices and misconceptions to the heart of a person. It’s about finding the place you belong and the people you belong with. It’s also got some adorable little heathens in the form of four-year-old twin brothers.
There’s also the continued mystery of why Grandpa Harlan willed the dying Idaho town to his grandchildren. Could it be the man knew the value of a second chance? I’m looking forward to returning soon.

Sophie and Zeke’s story has been building. The unlikely pair to fall in love. Can she trust Zeke to become a nanny for the twins while she gets her store ready? Can they overcome the obstacles?
Absolutely love the way Melinda writes this story. I can’t wait to read the next one.
Ms. Curtis has done it again. This book had everything in it heart, soul and so much more. It made me laugh out loud. It grabbed me in so many ways. When Sophie and Zeke fight a attraction between one another just because they come from different worlds well it tore me up. Sophie needs someone to watch her kids while she tries to open up a store in Second Chance, Idaho. Zeke believes in her. The things she was most passionate about-Old treasures. Her twin Shane called junk. She was stunned to say the least when Zeke offers to be there nanny. She accepted because she was desperate. Her four year old twins were heathens as everyone called them.
Zeke is a Cowboy and is recovering from an accident. He now has offered to watch over two twin boys. How hard could it be? Well he’d soon find out. He hid something from Sophie and just hoped she would never find out. It wasn’t easy. If she did find out it was the door for him. The last thing he expected was to find a family. It just wasn’t for him. But he did anyways.
Buy the book to see what happens. I also suggest to buy the entire series. The first one is Kissed by The County Doc.
I enjoyed this book very much. It didn't take me long to finish it. I love these kinds of reads because they sometimes can make me cry, laugh and sigh in certain scenes of the book and this one was no exception. The author certainly had my attention from the beginning and I burned some midnight oil to finish it. The characters were awesome and I really did love the story line. The cover of course melted my heart and I felt that these two little ones stole the show in my opinion. Who could resist these sweet little faces? I know I couldn't! I will be looking for more from this author in the future. This is also a new to me author and I really like her style of writing! It really amazes me how words can flow from her pen and then turn into a story! My thanks to Netgalley for a complimentary copy of this book. NO compensations were received and all opinions are my own.
The Monroes are back again. We meet Sophie Monroe who has a set of four year old twins while starting a new business. Needing help she hires a temporary nanny who is a cowboy. He not only teaches them roping and riding but even French.
As they spend time being a family, things look it can be permanent but Zeke has a secret that might prevent that reality from occurring. Will this family have a chance? Another well written storyline in the series.
‘The Mountain Monroes‘ is the next series on my list to get caught up on, and ‘Rescued by the Perfect Cowboy‘ transported me back to Second Chance, Idaho with ease.
Zeke and Sophie have been secondary characters so far, but ‘Rescued by the Perfect Cowboy‘ gives them a chance to shine… maybe, once they get past their differences. Zeke’s inability to see how a broke and right now, a broken cowboy could possibly have anything to offer to Sophie who is a Monroe, recently divorced with rambunctious 4-year-old twin boys and, even she will eventually admit that she is, without completely realizing it for most of their story, a bit of a snob. Zeke’s truck accident which happened in the first story, ‘Kissed by the Country Doc‘ left him with a badly broken leg which has now almost healed. Well, enough that he feels cooped up, useless, and ready to do something to earn the cash to get his truck repaired. Sophie is opening a business from the various boxed items left in storage or around the town.
As an art curator, Sophie knows art but what she has to work with right now isn’t up to her usual standards. Still, one person’s junk is another’s treasure is her new business motto so she’s opening a ‘treasure’ store business in Second Chance. Normally she took her boys with her to search through tons of stored boxes, but it’s reaching the point where she needs help, someone to watch over them as she works… and Zeke makes an offer she cannot refuse, although she does have concerns, lots of rules and concerns. Most of which Zeke just ignores and treats her kids like the little boys they are, needing a distraction, some common sense learning, and herding them away from disasters… which isn’t always easy nor successful, his bruised body a testament to that fact.
Zeke is holding tight to a secret, and only one other person knows of it. That secret will haunt him throughout this romance, it will interfere with his ability to see any future for himself and Sophie – and eventually become a huge sticking point between them when it’s revealed (against his wishes). Understanding how Zeke grew up, and the differences between this couple is important only as something to be dealt with, accepted, and moved on from. I’ll admit, there were times when I questioned if Sophie was up to that challenge, so I loved it when she finally sees herself in reality and begins to shed some of that wealthy Monroe attitude. I adored Zeke, and you’ll fall in love with his grand gesture toward the ending of their story – it just made me fall for this guy a little deeper.
I had fun, had a reconnect with characters I’ve enjoyed, and am definitely looking forward to diving into the next story in this series, ‘Lassoed by the Would-Be Rancher‘ (which should be fun knowing now just who that couple will be). If you love a good, clean, enjoyable romance then this series and this story should be on your reading radar.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Harlequin via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This was such a great story. I enjoyed the first one and this one I think was even better. I love a good cowboy story. Zeke was in an accident and broke his leg. He had to stay at the inn in town to recuperate. Also staying at the inn is Sophie and her two precocious twin boys, Alexander and Andrew. Sophie is trying to open up a "treasure" store to sell her grandfather's items that he collected and stored there in town. The story is a great one and follows the sub-plot of the first one. Why did Grandfather stipulate in his will that his children had to fire all of the grandchildren from their jobs in the various family business and they (the grandkids) inherited a town. Yep, Grandpa Harlan owned a town. All of the town folks cannot discuss their grandfather's business for an entire year after his death.
This story is written in a dual POV format. I absolutely adored it. There were times when I laughed so hard that I had to stop reading. Also there were some very poignant moments as well. I loved Zeke. The humble but extremely honorable cowboy was the perfect male protagonist. Sophie took a little warming up to because even though she tried not to be a snob, she was just a little bit.
This is such a great sweet, clean romance. While it is the second in the series, you don't have to read the first one to follow this one along. I highly recommend this one to anyone (especially if you love cowboys!!!)
I love Zeke and Sophie’s story! Zeke has been in the background at the Lodgepole Inn, recuperating from a badly broken leg. He has been unable to work at the Bucking Bull Ranch and won’t be able to do so for about another month. Now that the healing is nearly complete, he takes on being a nanny to Sophie’s two four-year-old twin boys, Alexander and Andrew. Sophie and her children from her previous marriage, also living at the inn, have to stay in Last Chance, Idaho until the end of the year. Spoiled from her high-class life in Philadelphia as an art curator, she and other cousins are required to live there in the cold mountains in the middle of nowhere until the end of the year. To survive, she is opening an antique treasures business in the old trading post. She needed the nanny so that she could open in time. Her boys can get into a lot of trouble! I fell in love with Zeke, whose gentle and strong character grabbed my heart. I really enjoyed this story. Watching the two of them clash while falling in love was special. The other characters who live year-round in Last Chance are loyal to the town and protect their own. They want to stay. There is a lot of humor, which had me giggling out loud, mostly caused by the two boys, who are adorable. Two worlds colliding and the strength to overcome differences for love is a real challenge. [I received this book for free.]
Art curator Sophie Monroe is overwhelmed with starting a new business and raising four-year-old twins. Needing help, the divorced mom hires cowboy Zeke Roosevelt as her interim nanny! French lessons and bookish pursuits give way to riding and roping. And scholarly Sophie falls hard for the strong, practical cowboy. Until Zeke reveals a secret that may prevent this temporary posse from becoming a permanent family.

Harlequin Heartwarming: Wholesome, heartfelt romances with traditional values important to you: home, family, community and love.
This was a cute, clean romance! The characters were fun and I really liked Zeke's relationship with Sophie's twins, but I wish there was more of the relationship between Zeke and Sophie revealed. It was like you were looking through a window and not seeing/hearing everything. I didn't realize this was the third book in a series, I wish I would have read the others first. This one was a good book, and mostly stand alone but I feel as if I didn't have the whole back story.
I received this advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.
Third in the Mountain Monroes series, in which Sophie Monroe needs a nanny for her 4-year-old twins while she explores one of the buildings in the town of Second Chance, which her grandfather has willed to his grandchildren. When Zeke Roosevelt, unable to speak French and not that interested in reading, is recuperating from a car crash that also broke his leg, he inexplicably offers to watch the boys. After riding bulls in a rodeo, how hard can it be to watch what Sophie calls her "adorable little heathens?" How hard indeed.
In the course of his gentle caring for the boys, they fall for him and so does Sophie. But Zeke clings to his heart, knowing that if his secret gets out, Sophie will be appalled. And when her society lady mother shows up, it's clear that he shouldn't have a chance with the Monroe woman he's fallen for. Isn't she going home soon, anyway, taking the boys with her?
Then Sophie learns what he's been hiding and to make matters worse, she's decided to stay in Second Chance. How can Zeke stay away from her, even if he's now back at the Bucking Bull ranch? Or has he made the most major of mistakes in telling her he can't be with her? And if that's the case, how is he going to fix it?
Whatever the natural appeal of kids, double it when you encounter twins. That is certainly true of Alex and Andy, the “adorable little heathens” whom their mother Sophie Monroe describes as “rambunctious, but lovable.” Sophie has relocated to Second Chance with her four year olds after her divorce and losing her job as curator of the Monroe art collection. If you have journeyed this far in the Mountain Monroes Harlequin Heartwarming series, you can easily predict that romance is in the wind, but that predictability does not take away the fun of watching the romance progress with more than a few hitches along the way.
The plot is filled out with local history, the antics of the twins, quirky local characters, and highfalutin Monroes. The central characters are Sophie and Zeke, a cowboy recuperating from a truck accident, who has a big secret to hide. In the background is the continuing search for a way forward for Second Chance and its residents. We meet new characters, both locals and more of the Monroe clan. The two groups provide quite a contrast: hard working versus the privileged. Can they manage to work together for everyone’s benefit?
I would like to extend my thanks to Melinda Curtis for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
I love this series, Every time the author releases a new book for this series and I get a chance to grab it and read it I am never disappointed. It truly feels like I am coming home or even catching up with friends. The author took a group of stuck up people and made them feel normal average people. I loved how Sophie had to truly find who she was and everything she new life to be was questioned. I loved how Zeke had to reach into his own life and show those around him who he was in order to find who he was. (don't worry I am not giving away anything with those statements) I really so badly want to read Shane's story he made quite an appearance in this one being Sophie's twin and each time he does make an appearance in a book I want to know more and more about him. I loved how the author kept the story line going with so many characters yet kept bring the focus back to Sophie and Zeke that I did not feel like there was to much going on. Really fun read and a total clean read which is nice so that its suitable for all readers. I received an advance copy of this book and I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion.
Sophie is a single mother to a pair of twins is starting her own business and needs a bit of help. While cowboy Zeke is out of commission due to a injury he agrees to help her for the month as a nanny. Sophie wants nothing but the absolute best for her boys and its more then Zeke can give them but he got other things he can teach them like getting outside and basics of being a cowboy. Both are bound to butt heads on things but one thing that remains true is the attraction they both have.
This was a sweet story and its clean for those of you who do love a clean romance. I enjoyed seeing how the boys interacted with Zeke. I thought it was interesting how he worked around his issues and was able to still managed to keep things under wraps from everyone else. Like there was plenty to love and enjoy about this book but you'd have to read it to see. I'd also recommend being that this is part of a series, while this book is a standalone it goes even better when pair with the other books that come with this one. Its not much of a difference and there is a recap but I think you'd appreciate the series as a whole much better when read that way. Overall great book! I really enjoyed it.
RESCUED BY THE PERFECT COWBOY is book three in Melinda Curtis's The Mountain Monroes series and is sure to delight fans of the series. An opposites attract story line between high class Sophie Monroe and hardworking cowboy Zeke Roosevelt is quick to heat up and take us for a ride towards happily ever after.
Sophie comes across as very uppity to the reader, but as the story moves forward we find a strong willed woman who just wants to make a good life for her twin sons.
Zeke is a hardworking cowboy, but an accident has him laid up and bored, so watching two rambunctious boys for part of the day might be just what he needs to get up and about again. He starts to fall hard for this little family, but secrets have a way of biting him when he least expect them.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys seeing a couple find their way through obstacles before reaching that sweet promise of forever. The entire series is quite attention grabbing and I can't wait to see what's in store for more of the siblings and cousins.
Rescued by the Perfect Cowboy is the third in the series but can also be read as a stand alone. I can attest to this because I haven't read the previous stories but this one was a complete story in which I didn't feel that I was missing anything. This was a great story of opposites attract and overcoming difficulties is easier with the help of friends and family. Sophie comes from a rich family and is starting from scratch as per her grandfather's will but she needs help taking care of her twins as she prepares to open her new store. Zeke is recovering from an accident in which he broke his leg and needs money to fix his truck so he offers to temporarily take care of the twins. One drawback is he is hiding a secret, he can't read. The story that follows, the growth of the characters and the development of the relationships is perfectly written to keep the reader entertained until the very last page.
I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.
I think this is my favorite story in this series. There are adorable twins – who I can picture running around causing all kinds of mischief, their mother, Sophie Monroe, and a down on his luck cowboy named Zeke Roosevelt.
Zeke had my heart throughout the story. He is recovering from a serious injury and is trying to keep his head above water while sharing space with Sophie and her family. Sophie is part of a well-to-do family that has just inherited the town but she is struggling to make a place for herself in this new reality. (The series is all about the “Mountain Monroes” and each one has their own story. The author does a much better job of telling their story than I can so I’ll keep it simple.)
Reading about Sophie and Zeke falling for each other while they individually struggle with their own demons AND reading about the twins’ hijinks made for a terrific story. I’ve enjoyed the past books and am looking forward to the next. It is a standalone but I always enjoy when characters come back to visit, or annoy one another!
So I love this Monroe series and am so happy that I was able to read the next installment. Single mom, Sophie Monroe is starting a new business in "Second Chance". What is Second Chance? It is the town that grandfather Harlan Monroe gave to all his grandchildren to inherit. And there was a stipulation. They must all work together on the town to bring it to life.
Sophie has a set of twins who need child care, enter Zeke who volunteers for the job. But her kids are pretty lively, should we say. As Zeke recovers from an accident, he cares for the twins, but finds there might be more to this "job" than meets the eye. And Zeke holds back a secret from Sophie, something that makes him feel unqualified to be in Sophie's life.
It's a fun and wonderful addition to the rest of the series and I loved it. It's such a good read! You will absolutely love this book. I highly recommend it!
I received an advance copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
I am loving the Monroes. Sophie isn't sure where she belongs now. She is used to luxury but now she is in a small town trying to open her own store. Selling what some would consider junk. She calls it treasures. Zeke has been there through the previous books and now he gets his own story. Since he can't work as a cowboy right now, he decides that he will be a nanny to Sophie's twins. The boys are a handful and Zeke has a hard time wrangling them, but he is up for the challenge. Sophie has thought that her sons would go to the best schools and get the best educations. If she stays where she is, they might not get all that. But, they are getting a different kind of education. Is that what she wants for them. She just wants to be the best mom. She also wants Zeke but he isn't what her family would want for her. Does that matter? Zeke has a secret that could change everything for them. Will it make a difference? He thinks it will.
4.5 Stars. I am hooked on this series! Each book in the The Mountain Monroe series introduces a new grandchild of Harlan Monroe and follows their path in the small town of Second Change where they discover their individualism and love. We got a peek at Sophie and Zeke in the previous book, Snowed in With the Single Dad, in which the author supplied a subtle hint of Zeke’s growing attraction to Sophie. Zeke is the sweetest hero and watching him undertake the role as nanny for Sophie’s twin boys is touching and filled with fun and humour. This story is captivating and reveals a couple of Harlan’s secrets with teasers of more to come. Packed with emotion from Sophie’s wavering decision to leave or stay, to Zeke’s private struggle. This book is another winning read, and I am already anticipating Shane’s story in Lassoed by the Would-be Rancher. Reviewed for Still Moments Magazine.
This is the third book in The Mountain Monroes series. I have read the first two books and although each is a stand alone book, I would advise you to read the entire series since I really enjoyed every book so much!
I was so happy that a new book was released in this series and could not wait to read it and once again visit the town of Second Chance. The author has a wonderful gift of creating a world that seems real. I care about the characters that she invented. I care about the town of Second Chance.
This is the story of Sophie and Zeke. Two people that would appear to be polar opposites, but they find that they are meant to be together as time goes on. I loved reading about the journey to their happiness. I highly recommend this lovely, sweet romance story. I am looking forward to book four in this series, Lassoed By The Would-Be Rancher!
Single mum Sophie has had to give up her art curator job and come to Second Chance thanks to her grandpa's will stipulation. Trying to sort through her grandfathers ecletic belongings as well as look after two rambunctious four year old boys. Sophie has a lot on her plate. Enter Zeke a cowboy at a loose end while his leg heals. At a loose end and in need of money. Zeke becomes the boys nanny. Sophie and Zeke are from different worlds. Its very much a case of oppposites attracts. If only they can work through the issue keeping them apart. If you love a small town romance. This one is for you. Part of a series. Cant wait to see what Grandpa was upto in making his grandchildren come to Second Chance. Highly recommended. Grab a hot drink snuggle under a blanket and get reading.
After meeting Zeke in the last book I was stoked that he had his eye on Sophie even with her 2 hyper twins. Not only do we get to see Zeke and Sophie's budding relationship grow but also learn more about them both as well as see her trading post start to take shape. There are plenty of laughs with Zeke offering up to be Sophie's babysitter, good lord I laughed at Odette's large knitted sock and when you learn of his secret you can feel his vulnerability along with see why Sophie is so hesitant to look at Zeke as more than a babysitter. Get ready for the town of second chance to warm you heart again and get closer to knowing not only the townsfolk but also the Munroe's and Grandpa Harlan!
