About the author

Russell Punter was born in Bedfordshire, England. From an early age he enjoyed writing and illustrating his own stories. He trained as a graphic designer at art college in West Sussex before entering the world of publishing. He has written over one hundred books for children of all ages, ranging from original stories to adaptations of classic novels.

I am so glad I read this book before allowing my children to read it. I got it from the library because I thought they would enjoy it. Only the first story has anything to do with unicorns. One of the stories is about weasels with measles. The doctor tells the mom not to worry because it's the least harmful disease. Excuse me? People literally die of measles. This is propaganda to convince parents (people my age who were vaccinated as kids) that measles isn't so bad so they won't take proper steps to protect their own kids from it. Throw the whole book away.

Interesting title, but nothing tying the "uni'"s together. I picked it up for a unicorn lover, but this could have been any anthropomorphic animal or person. There was nothing unicorn-ish about it. I thought the story was lackluster, and trivial.

This was a fun rhyming book with great illustrations. It’s opening day for the Unicorn Hotel and they need the guests to see everything perfectly, but everything goes wrong. Kids will like this book and want to read it again and again, and since it’s short parents probably won’t say no.

Vibrant illustrations will capture reader attention & the goal is to increase phonemic awareness. Young readers will certainly identify the common rhyming sounds, but whether they will be captivated by the stories is another story. An audio CD is also included for children to listen to as they read along.
