Lucy Goosey has been playing happily in the same pond all her life, but then the time comes for her to fly away. She is so terrified of getting lost in the huge sky that she refuses to leave with the others. Is it more terrifying to be alone, or to face one's greatest fear? No matter what happens, Lucy Goosey’s mother will always come looking for her—only once she is reassured of this does Lucy Goosey feel brave enough to make the flight.

Lucy lived in a certain pond since she was a gosling. Now it was time to fly with her mother and the other geese to another country, but Lucy didn't want to go! Her mother warned her that she'd be left behind, but Lucy didn't care - until she came out of hiding and the pond was empty of geese.
Such a cute story about facing one's fears. Nicely illustrated.

It's a little long and repetitive.
The illustrations are sweet.

This book begins well - Lucy loves growing up in her pond, but the migration is about to happen and they are going to have to move to a different country. Lucy runs away and sulks, and awakes to find that everyone has gone! Then much to Mum and Lucy's relief they find each other. This should be The End.

A lovely story of learning to accept change - be it moving house, going to/changing childcare/preschool/school, etc. A reminder that your parents are there to support you through this change, and won't leave you all alone.

But Margaret Wild feels the need to push the point with a super-saccharine Mum-loves-you and You-love-Mum sequence which leave me dry-retching.
