Even now, five years later, as a member of Cataclysm, the rising star of the alt-rock world, I still think about her. Compare all women to her. So when she gets pulled up on stage at a concert, I know I can’t let her get away. But she drops a bomb that turns my life upside down— I’m a dad. I have a four year old daughter. Now I’m forced to face the demons of my past and come back home. Because I’m determined to get to know my daughter, whether her mother likes it or not. But the more time we spend together, the more those old feelings push aside my anger. Does she still feel the same way? Or is the time and distance between us too much to overcome?
Jerica MacMillan has been reading romance since she stumbled into the paperback section of the library as a middle schooler. And it's been an ongoing love affair ever since!

Is it asking too much for authors to write a good 2nd chance romance that those of us who hate this overused plots can get a break?? Apparently it is because this nonsense continues - and so does my little pinky DNF finger!......
SPOILER WARNING!!!!
In case anyone has the same pet peeves as me, here’s what you need to know going in:
Hero & heroine were HS sweethearts and got pregnant the summer after senior year. But because they were each going their separate ways and felt they were too young, they decide that she would get an abortion and they broke up.
Five years later, we learn that heroine did not have the abortion and had a beautiful little girl that she adores and hid it from Hero – until they meet unexpectedly and she shares the news that he is a father.
Hero in the meantime joined a band and began hooking up with “groupies” right after they split. In the intervening years, he also has this disgusting relationship with the Band’s assistant in which both he & his friend Marcus (the singer) both fuck her, but not together. In other words, they take turns with her and apparently Hero “deeply cares" about her because the first few chapters before I DNF’d is him confiding his troubles with the heroine to this chick and being affectionate. She is possessive of him and he allows it. He also continued the “relationship” with this OW even after reuniting with heroine - at least on the 15-20% that I read...
“Blaire came to my room a few nights after I met Maddie and we started kissing. But I kept picturing Sam. And I’m not enough of a dick to picture one girl while I’m with another”.
So does he have sex with the OW after heroine comes into the picture again? I guess you can take that quote however you want, but for me, it IS cheating nevertheless even if it was not full on penetration. It's also emotional cheating as well because throughout the story (after skipping to the end), he continues to care about this OW - especially how he may have hurt her in the fact he had a child with heroine & that he moved on with her. You'll know what I'm talking about if you read the scenes in witch he first tells the OW that he has a kid with heroine and towards the end when he finally confirms the OW's suspicions - not to mention other interactions throughout the story. And to show you what a classy guy this Hero is, he never actually breaks up with this OW. Up until the end or so, the OW asks him if he is with the heroine and he says "yes". He deeply regrets and is somewhat upset that he hurt the OW. LOL.
And while Hero was fucking around all throughout their separation, heroine of course was frozen because “no one compared to him”. LOL.
“I love you, Sam.” His words are soft, but they land in my ear, seeping into my brain, into my heart, and I hold my breath while he continues. “I never stopped. And if Marcus hadn’t pulled you up on stage that night, I never would’ve done anything about it. I wouldn’t know Maddie. I wouldn’t be here right now. Marcus pulling you out of the crowd is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.” This line sums up the entire stupid story.... I recommend you SKIP and save your sanity.....
They were high school sweethearts that parted ways when they went to different colleges. Now Aaron is a keyboard player in a rock band. 5 years have passed and they meet at a concert. Sam tells Aaron that she didn’t get the abortion they had agreed on back when. He has a 4 yo daughter. He’s mad at first then gets over it and they become a family. There was a bit of a chance for ow dram but it fizzled fast. I do not consider this book to have cheating. It’s pretty simple and wholesome. Meh it was okay. I skimmed quite a bit.

I liked this book for the most part, he didn’t hesitate to get involved with his daughter and he stopped contact with other women as son. As Sam came back into his life. But I struggled with his anger over their child and his supposed “loved her the entire time” persona. Yes he has a right to be angry, but he isn’t an innocent victim. He believed that she had gotten the abortion mainly because he had never checked back with her about it. And what kind of douche gets his high school girlfriend (and love of his life) pregnant and wouldn’t go with her to the appointment? That was never even addressed. He wasn’t moving around waiting for her either. He called her once months after she broke up with him, but if he had taken a trip to see her he would have known about the baby. Plus, for someone who was “in love with her” he didn’t bother to check in on her via social media or any other source to see if she was ok, or what had happened to her. There’s no likely way she could have completely hidden being a mom. Heck he had no idea she had never even went to college. He admits he jumped right into the rockstar lifestyle with groupies etc, he wasn’t wasting his time mourning her. To me that showed that she was right to keep the news from him, no one made him become a slut. The author didn’t do a good job explaining his rationale or any backstory as to why we should let him off and or believe in his “love”. Oh and of course while he wasn’t the least bit loyal to her, she remain pure and chaste for him.
Aaron and Sam were high school sweethearts however their dreams for their futures were leading them in different directions as Aaron wanted to pursue his music while Sam wanted to attend college. They made a joint decision to end their relationship so when an unexpected pregnancy resulted they decided to end the pregnancy however one of them changed their mind and didn’t tell the other.
Five years later Sam is attending a Cataclysm concert when she reunites with Aaron. Once all the secrets are revealed Aaron is left reeling and questioning if he ever really knew Sam. Will they be able to put their feelings aside and do what is best for their daughter and will this be their second chance or is the pain of the past too much to overcome?
Nothing like finding the love of your life being serenaded by your own band. Aaron hasn't forgotten his sweetheart Samantha but they didn't want to do the long distance so they split up.
Aaron and Sam also became parents at a young age but because of the split made "that" decision. Fast forward to current and you are about to meet the sweetest little girl Madison.
She's about to bring her parents together again without lies, distance or the fact that her daddy is in a famous band. Just as two people who are getting that second chance. Sure they have a lot of hurdles and other complicated relationships to deal with but their friends won't let them fall and clearly have their back.
What I liked is the 2nd chance wasn't rushed. They learned about each other and their daughter as individuals who realized they need to be a family not just because of a child but because they never gave up their dreams of together. You feel these characters on a genuine and emotional level.
I dare you to not love Maddie. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.
I loved this addition to the Cataclysm series. The author did a great job explaining the thought processes of the characters. I liked that it showed the reasons why she made the decisions that she did and the guilt that she felt even though it was never done maliciously. The same can be said about Aaron and why he felt hurt on all that he had missed out but also how he was resigned to the reasons why the decision had been made. My favorite part was watching them move forward though and how they both resolved the fears that they had in concerns toward each other and Maddie. Maddie was very cute.
Again, this author does an exceptional job with her stylistic choices that draw the audience in and makes them invested in the characters and story that seems real and not fiction. My only gripe of this story is that it didn't give me the type of epilogue that I was wanting. It did give me insight in the next book which surprised me because I was not expecting that story to be next.
I highly recommend this series and anything that this author writes.
Aaron’s book is absolutely everything I was expecting and even more. Aaron and Sam were high school sweethearts that went their separate ways after high school because he was going to New York and she had her future mapped out in Virginia. Things definitely take an unexpected turn and we learn things for Sam didn’t go as she had planned and now she is forced to talk to Aaron about these things. They have a bunch of things to work out and Aaron sort of resents her for a while, his family definitely does, but he starts to see the girl he loved and longed for since forever and wants to reconcile. I knew from the other books that Aaron, Mason, and Blair’s had an unusual relationship but we learn more about it in this book but what I couldn’t stand was Blaire trying to go all he is mine because that’s not what they agreed to so I kind of wanted to smack her but it all works out in the end.
I got as far as I could before I started gagging! I couldn't take anymore. The story was just awful and the dialogue is something a 9th grader would produce at best. It was beyond moronic! The previous reviewers must have been family or paid because the quality of this "book" was crappy. Read the blurb and save yourself some agony!
I’m lucky I have KU, ad it let’s me binge when the stars align. They did just that this weekend (the Memorial Day break, and I’m not home so can’t even spend it with family) with both the time and my new gourmet quality delight, Jerica MacMillan’s Cataclysm. I’d already read these once before but they’re so much fun it was worth doing again. These follow members of the band Cataclysm, and extended family, with the first three books following the romance of different members, Anything You Need (Book 1) focusing on lead singer / songwriter Marcus and his lifelong best friends turn lover romance with socialite Kendra, Shouldn't Want You (Book 2) focusing on leader guitarist / composer Danny, his 2year old son Eli and romance with babysitter Ava, Everything I Want (Book 3) being the classic second chance romance between band member Aaron and former high school flame Samantha (Sam) who didn’t tell him she’d become pregnant just before their post senior year breakup so this is a surprise baby tale too (and 4 year old Madison is adorably perfect), and Just For Now (Book 4) focusing on Cataclysm band assistant Blair (who is a major supporting character in the prior books) and her romance with while fading superstar rocker Beckett taking a turn (while her band is in break) as his tour manager. As you can tell, each of these tales takes romance from a very different perspective yet - while they can all work perfectly standalone (though they’re even better reading in chronological and book series order) - they work beautifully as a set with the different characters from each book having major roles in the other books. These are totally wonderful and addictively fun romances. Enough that I literally could not put them down and binge read from book 1 to 4 nonstop. I totally, and highly, recommend these superbly written tales - and I am massively looking forward to when the next one comes, focusing on the remaining band member still single.
Sam's friends surprise her for her birthday with tickets to see Cataclysm. While there the lead singer pulls her up on stage during one of their songs. While up there she sees Aaron, her high school sweet that she hasn't seen since they broke up five years ago. When Aaron sees Sam he wants to see her again, he wants to catch up but when she surprises him after the show by saying that they have a 4 year old daughter together Aaron's world is flipped upside down.
Aaron's story broke me. I was a mess when he was letting us into his thoughts and feelings. My heart hurt so bad. But I felt that this was one of the most well written reactions to a secret baby. It hurt but felt so real. I respected the direction the author took with this one more than I can express. I loved how Sam didn't get a break from anyone when the truth came out about Aaron. It felt real . . . authentic and I absolutely respected that. I felt that a few things were unresolved and it was a bit of an anticlimactic ending but overall I really loved this one. Favorite so far in the series.
I wondered what happened to Kendra's s ex but I got the answer in this book. Aaron and Samantha got a second chance at the love they shared in high school. It was difficult for Aaron to forgive Samantha for keeping him in the dark about his daughter but not forgiving her would only cause him pain because he never got over her or she him. Regardless of their years apart and the heartache about Samantha did they found their way back to each other.
....is new again. I love second chance stories. Highschool sweethearts with a surprise baby? Count me in!! This story was a great story. I couldn't put it down once I started it. The sexual tension could be cut with a knife. Wowsers! They are meant to be. I hope the next story brings us an update as the others have in this series. I can't wait to read the next one. It's been downloaded already!
Young lovers Aaron n Sam's paths divide as college looms. Sam pushes Aaron away so he can follow his dreams n keeping a secret with life changing consequences. Few years pass n a chance meeting brings them back together with both good n bad times from the past that helps being their future together as huge possibility n definitely a happy ending
I love second chance romances. This one was another great one. Jerica’s writing style was so easy to read and the story she put together was everything you want in a rockstar romance. Loved it.
I 💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘 this book! I wish I could give more than five stars. Aaron is dreamy and sexy. Samantha is my hero staying true to her man and her daughter.
While the story was the same old synopsis, and I didn't agree with Sam's decision, it was an enjoyable read! The characters were interesting and the writing was good!
Book 3 in Jerica Macmillan’s Cataclysm Series (each book a stand-alone), Everything I Want is Aaron and Samantha’s story. High school sweethearts, they split amicably to pursue their dreams which drew them in opposite directions, but they planned to remain friends and keep in touch. Unfortunately for Samantha, her plans derailed and, to make sure the same didn’t happen to Aaron, she pushed him away completely and lied about her reasons why. A few years later and they meet up by chance - or is it fate?! - when Samantha is pulled up on stage to be serenaded at a Cataclysm concert. Aaron insists on talking to her backstage and, when he makes it clear he is very interested in catching up with her after the show, Samantha panics and confesses her secret. Suddenly Aaron finds his life turned completely upside down and he has to decide if he can forgive Samantha and still love her, like he always has, or walk away. Jerica has a way of hooking you into her stories from the very first page and Everything I Want is no different. The emotions between Aaron and Samantha run the full gauntlet of anger, betrayal, hurt and angst and yet, underneath all that is the love and passion that never died. This is a beautiful second chance romance where hearts are healed and love is rediscovered, despite some major changes and some personal growth made necessary. Their chemistry is palpable and, while sometimes awkward and somewhat humorous, the sexy times (when they finally get there!) are hot! I highly recommend reading this book and, if you haven’t already, the others in this series because it will not disappoint. A rock band of hot and sexy guys finding their HEA one by one?? Yes please! I read an ARC of this book and I choose to leave this honest and unbiased review
Jerica has a way of captivating you straightaway. Within the first few chapters, you are completely committed to the story and you do not want to put the book down. I devoured Everything I Want in one sitting, nothing was interrupting me and I was so lost in the book I didn’t realise I was sitting in the dark.
Everything I Want is the story of Aaron and Samantha. Aaron is part of Cataclysm, he and Samantha were high school sweethearts. Samantha is shocked when her friends surprise her with tickets to a Cataclysm concert for her birthday but both of them have the shock of their lives when Sam is pulled up on stage for Marcus to serenade her.
Neither have ever got over the end of their relationship. Five years later there is no way Aaron is letting Sam leave the stage without talking to her and catching up but Aaron is not prepared to find out that Sam has a four-year-old daughter, his daughter that she never told him about.
These two end up on one hell of a roller-coaster. The ups and downs, twists and turns they both face are heart-breaking and heart-warming at the same time. You couldn’t help but fall in love with them as individuals and as a family.
I’m was so happy with Aaron’s story, I’m not sure what I expected due to his past relationship or should I say triangle with Mason and Blaire but Everything I Want, was everything I wanted for him!!
Well done on another brilliant book Jerica!

Aaron plays keyboard for the band Cataclysm and he can’t believe who Marcus (the lead singer) drags up on stage to serenade ... his high school sweetheart, Sam. Sam’s friends surprise her with a night out and go to a concert ... a Cataclysm concert! After she’s serenaded, Aaron drags Sam backstage and she can’t help but blurt out that she has a daughter ... his daughter! It doesn’t take Aaron long to realize that he wants to be a part of his daughter’s life and he’ll do anything to make that happen.
I loved this book! Maddie had me laughing so hard I was crying. The things she said and did ... like when she caught Aaron helping her mommy get into her PJs ... I was rolling on the floor laughing. I liked that Aaron was mad at Sam for not telling him about her not getting the abortion and didn’t let her off the hook so easy. Even the tension between Aaron’s family and Sam just seemed so realistic. I also liked that Aaron and Sam took their time getting to know one another again and both of them putting Maddie first. I only wish there would have been a little more angst with the Aaron, Blair and Danny situation. This series is just great and each book just gets better and better! So I highly recommend not only this book, but also the whole series!
I graciously received an early copy courtesy of the author in exchange for a honest review.
Aaron and Sam are your typical high school sweethearts who have had to make that exceptionally hard decision on whether to continue a long-distance relationship post high school or to just try to remain friends. And like the vast majority of high school relationships, theirs did not last.
Add in an unexpected pregnancy and last minute changes of heart, and you have the perfect storm for two people who were so in love with each other to sacrifice their own feelings so that the other could have the life they had always dreamed of.
As a result, Sam became a single mother who worked extremely hard to provide for her young daughter. She sacrificed her foray into young adulthood and going to college for motherhood instead. And Aaron became a successful musician who was completely unaware he was a father. Neither had truly gotten over the other and now they are having to learn to co-parent a small child.
This book definitely did not disappoint! Jerica Macmillan is an extremely talented author and breathes life into her characters. My only complaint is that I wish it had been longer because Aaron and Sam just fit so well together. Suffice it to say, this book has easily become one of my favorites.

Well Jerica MacMillon has done it once again, and written another tremendously captivating story in this series. There is not one book I have not loved, and Aaron and Samantha's (Sam) story is no exception. They were High school sweethearts and It is a rocky road for them, because of a secret that Sam has Kept from Aaron that ultimately kept them apart for many years. That is until Sam was pulled out of the crowd at a Cataclysm concert (Aaron's band) and was serenaded by one of his band mates.Talk about a shock blast from the past,Aaron is totally intrigued by this women and whisks her backstage to catch up. This starts a whole series of events that takes Sam and Aaron on a journey of confession, forgiveness and second chances. The connection between them is still very much alive, but Sam's guilt over the past has her dropping a Bombshell on Aaron that could destroy them ever rekindling their once young Love. This book drew me in right from the first few lines,I love being back in this world Jerica has created and it felt amazing discovering Aaron and Sam's romance .Jerica is a wonderful storyteller and each book is unique I highly recommend this Rockstar second chance romance. It is a fantastic read that will leave you wanting more I Loved it.
Everything I Want is book three in the Cataclysm series. It can be read as a standalone. Aaron and Samantha were high school sweethearts. They had plans and dreams for after high school. There was an unexpected pregnancy and they agree to get an abortion except Sam decided not to and didn't tell Aaron. Sam life plans changed and Aaron followed his and became part of the band Cataclysm. I don't know if Sam was ever going to tell Aaron about their daughter but during a chance meeting with Aaron years later she kind of blurts it out. I am not going say I agreed with her for not telling but I understand why she didn't do it right away. She a kind, big hearted person and tries to what she thinks is right for everyone. Aaron is super sweet and nice. He steps up right away and wants everything. I liked these two together. Towards the end I was a little worried that their story might be spread into two book but it's just one book and it's wrapped but just right. I really didn't like Blaire in this one but the Epilogue is in her POV and now I'm waiting for her story.
