Whoa -- two oxygen tanks plus a spare definitely required for this non-stop action of a read! Karen Kirst has a diabolically clever mind and she's not afraid to use it! She offers a great balance between gripping suspense and toe-curling romance, If I wasn't swooning, I was ducking! lol

Brady comes off all judgmental and brooding in the beginning. He has preconceived ideas about Olivia that puts him on guard. She's not surprised -- it's always been that way between them, though she can't figure out why. It was so much fun to have a front row seat to their working things out! Lots of tension and angst and sizzling sparks!

And I loved the aquarium setting. So much scope for the author to unleash the dastardly side of her creativeness. Bwahahaha! Definitely a read-in-one-sitting romantic suspense!

I won this in a giveaway sponsored by the author on her Facebook page. A positive review was not requested or required, and all words are my own.

This is one of two Love Inspired Suspense novels I have, ironically both from giveaways. I’m not new to the “Suspense” lines. I used to subscribe to Harlequin’s Intrigue line, but due to finances, had to stop. However, if I were to start a subscription again, I think I’d choose Love Inspired Suspense.

Anyway …

“Danger in the Deep” is the third book in Karen Kirst’s “Military Heroes” series. Two characters from “Intensive Care Crisis” return in this book – Julian and Audrey, who play a significant role besides Olivia and Brady. Tori AND Cade from “Explosive Reunion” return at the end of the book.

The books are standalone reads/stories so you don’t have to read them in any particular order, or read the previous ones to know what is going on.

Aquarium employee Olivia Smith is being targeted, but she can’t understand why someone would want her dead. But, her late husband’s best friend – Marine Corps pilot Brady Johnson – knows a secret about Derek. And, that secret might explain who is targeting Olivia, and why.

It was something Brady had vowed never to tell anyone. Only he knew that “Derek” had been on the run from his mob family before his death. However, Brady did vow to keep Olivia safe no matter how he felt about her.

This was my first introduction to the author, and she didn’t disappoint at all. The action picks right up in chapter one and doesn’t let up until the end.

It was a captivating read – and despite reading another book at the same time (a rarity for me) – I was able to “dive” right back into this one.

The characters were written realistically – despite a Marine being involved, the case mostly stayed on the civilian side of the law. There were little technical terms used, which pertained to a situation with a civilian aircraft.

The relationship progression is natural but awkward given their own backgrounds; as well as the story line. I was invested in both Olivia and Brady. I truly enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down. I definitely want to seek out the other novels in the series.

I enjoyed the fast, couldn’t slow down pace.

This is one of the Christian themed books, so there are faith references made by the characters. It is also a “clean” romance read.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Danger in the Deep. I'm a big fan of Karen's and I'm so glad she is writing for LIS now. I really enjoy her suspense stories. This one is excellent. It's well written, action packed, and full of faith. I know you are going to love it.

Olivia Smith works for the North Carolina Coastal Aquarium. She's a widow, her husband had died eleven months ago with an aneurysm. Tonight her husband's best friend is coming to the Aquarium with a group of at risk kids. Olivia and Brady didn't get along well so she is really nervous about being with him all night. Something goes wrong with her suit and her equipment in a dive. Brady jumps into help her. She almost drowns. She had checked her equipment, what could have gone wrong?

US Marine Corps Pilot Brady Johnson is a loner. He has been all his life he was abandoned by his parents and neglected, his grandmother tried but was old and he had to care for her. He had only one close friend and he resented the woman that married Derek. He felt like he must check on her though. He knew the dead man's secrets. Then in one night several attempt are made on Olivia's life. Brady now knows what his best friend saw in her. He must keep her safe.

A journey though the world of the Aquarium that turns deadly. God has a plan for these two, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. A good plan and not for evil. Give Him your heart and watch Him turn your life around.

Amazing and unique mystery!

Karen Kirst has managed to write another spellbinding yet incredibly unique tale of suspense, forgiveness and happily ever after in Danger in the Deep. She begins by piquing your curiosity for the characters and their pasts. Next she lays out for you some interesting facts about life and work inside a typical aquarium. Throw in malfunctioning equipment, vicious attacks and too many possibilities for the role of bad guy and you have another page-turning read. Kirst clearly does her research on the topics she includes in her stories but also has the amazing gift of imagery – I can see the book like a movie in my head from her descriptions and enjoy her use of interesting yet believable situations the characters encounter. I plan to be a lifelong fan and look forward to reading this book again and again.
I received this book from the publisher for review and all thoughts and comments are my own.

I have been a fan of Karen Kirst's books since her very first novel released in 2011. Every book I have ever read of Karen's has been amazing and this one was no different!! I found myself coming back for another chapter and another. I ended up reading the entire book in one day because I just couldn't bring myself to put it down! The suspense was terrific, there was always something going on and I couldn't ever quite put my finger on who was doing what. I loved the characters, the story and the unique setting of the aquarium!
I highly recommend this book and give it 5 stars!

Danger In The Deep is a great, page-turning book. It keeps you guessing and coming back for more. The way Karen wove Olivia & Brady’s story together and changed how they saw each other was so great and real. I have never read a book with an aquarium as a main setting, but it was a good choice. Also I have never read a book with the heroine being Cherokee Indian it was a good change up from the usual. I loved the book! Karen, as always, does a great job!

I really enjoyed this story. It had a different kind of setting being a aquarium. I enjoyed the characters Olivia Smith and Brady Johnson. Its well written and keeps you turning the pages wondering who is the bad guy. The mystery as to why Olivia is being attacked is interesting at the end. Who the bad guy is more interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing the next book she has for she knows how to keep you guessing. J

Olivia Smith starts getting attacked at her job where she works at an aquarium and ends up getting assistance from the most unlikely source her past husband’s friend Brady Johnson. Brady is a Marine Corps pilot who volunteers with under privileged youth and happens to be at the aquarium on a field trip when he notices Olivia having trouble. The two call a truce during the attacks and end up growing close with the possibility of a future but only if they can survive.

Potential was here for a good story but too many back-to-back near misses caused me to lose interest before halfway mark.
The suspense was at too high a level to sustain that for such a long time....

Brady Johnson, a pilot in the Marine Corps, is visiting the aquarium where Olivia Smith, the widow of his best friend, is a diver. Noticing she is in distress, Brady jumps in the tank to save her. After finding out that Olivia's breathing equipment was tampered with and knowing her husband was leading a secret life, Brady insists on staying with Olivia until the danger is past.

Danger In The Deep, the third book in Karen Kirst's romantic suspense series of Marine heroes stationed in North Carolina, is my favorite one so far. I loved the familiar settings, having been to an aquarium several times and vacationed in Cherokee on numerous occasions. I also loved the author's portrayal of Brady and Olivia as a couple, especially their shared faith in Jesus.

I purchased a paperback copy of this book.

I cannot imagine sleeping in a shark tunnel all night! Reading about working in an aquarium was fascinating but being there at night - *shiver*! Lots of suspense in this book along with twists and turns keeping you guessing at just who is trying to kill her? Or are they really after Brady? Karen Kirst has crafted another heart-stopping suspense book in Danger in the Deep. Thank you for writing Love Inspired books that are clean and wonderful to read!
