Touch was somewhat of a spiritual read. Loss of a lover and learning to live again. I was reminded of how long it takes someone to learn to pick up the pieces and go out into the world - making it through a day without feeling like a lost soul. Ellie Rose had her work and start of something new when she finally believed she would make it through life after losing her boyfriend Brett. Enter Mark who felt an attraction from the moment he met Ellie and would not give up. I feel their love was more solid because they became friends first, what Ellie needed.
This book was interesting with stories of Ellie’s patients and he recovery from losing her one true love. I would have liked to have Ellie and Mark’s story told more with patients as a side story. However, one can see the authors’ passion for physiotherapy and her love for animals.

Touch is a book telling the story of one woman’s short first love that ends in a tragedy who cannot get over the loss of her lover who died in a tragic accident. Her life after that in the English countryside is uneventful and slow. She meets friends, walks her dogs and works. That is pretty much it until the end of the book where things finally come to a solution.

Now I realise this sounds drab and dreary at first but let me tell you what I so loved about this book and be open to be wowed. First, the author’s background in physiotherapy, which is solid and incredibly well described in her female MC’s professional examples. If Cairns ever publishes a textbook on physiology for the layperson which describes common ailment of the motoric system, trust me, I’ll be the first to buy it. I love her holistic approach, her founded knowledge of orthodox and more advanced Eastern and holistic techniques and ways to approach a patient. I’m in awe of her professional skills as well as the compassionate and loving way her character deals with her patients.

The second point is, I have rarely come across a writer who does justice to the English weather at such a level as Cairns. Having lived in the UK for a long time, in the city and the countryside, I am well acquainted with the different moods of the weather and I find it fascinating in how much detail the author can bring the beautiful English countryside I so love to life to the point where I feel I can smell the morning fog that rises on the fields at dawn.

This book lives off the little moments, the individual impressions and the close and loyal relationship the main character has to her family and friends, the world around her, her patients and even her dogs, as well as, tragically, her dead lover. This book is as gentle as a light morning breeze gently caressing your skin while you barely realise it is there. A great read for anyone who doesn’t mind the slow pace and the story that is devoid of any exciting action.

Touch is a book to slow down with and to be touched by in a gentle, almost imperceptible, yet nonetheless profound way.

Ellie Rose returns to the UK from Australia following the sudden death of her fiancé Brett. Struggling to deal with her loss, she buries herself in setting up her own physiotherapy business, and as she heals her patients, soon finds healing of her own.

This a gentle, comforting tale of loss, friendship and hope, wonderfully crafted by Angela Cairns. Ellie’s tragic loss leaves her reeling, but she gathers herself without dramatics and chooses to find healing by diving into the launch of her own physiotherapy business; Touch. Along the way she meets new friends and patients, and although she tells herself she needs nothing more than her dogs and her physio practice, her friends have other ideas.

With a cosy, small-town setting, a charming collection of cottages, pubs, and barn conversions, there’s a homely feel to this read. You won’t find wild drama or action in these pages. Instead you’ll discover a story that ambles at a gentle pace, perfect for a comfy armchair and an afternoon cuppa.

Touch is the sweet and charming tale of physiotherapist Ellie Rose, whose life takes a very different path from the one she had chosen when her fiancé is accidentally killed in Australia. Coming home she grieves deeply for Brett and imagines she will always spend her life alone, unable to even contemplate giving her heart to another man.

Building a life in a small Essex town, Ellie focuses on the good things about her new existence – her small but thriving practise, Touch, and her patients. Finding solace in her dogs, her friends, and her family, Ellie tells herself it is enough.

But life still has some surprises in store for her, and Ellie must learn to trust in her heart’s ability to heal and love again before she can discover true happiness.

A must-read for those who enjoy gently paced, cosy fiction and in the style of Rebecca Shaw and Miss Read, Touch is a delightful story of hope and endurance overcoming loss and bereavement.

This was a sad journey for the main character and others. They have gone through different losses of loved ones. Finding the courage to move on with life while finding different career paths. Opening new businesses and the different drains on a person being sole owners. It is also about second chances to find love.

A poignant read!

Touch is a moving story of a woman dealing with her own wounds of grief while starting a business designed to heal others. It is a tale that does not shrink from the raw emotions of loss, yet gives you a buoy of hope to cling to.

A beautiful story about love, loss, and new beginnings. Written in the style of a memoir, it brings forward the journey of healing after grief, with a unique portrayal of strength and resilience.

Meet Ellie Rose, a physiotherapist who has lost her soulmate in a tragic way. The year is 1986, and Ellie is devastated by the loss, finding it hard, if not impossible, to move past the grief. Suffocated by the sympathy of her friends, she will move from London to Essex, hoping to start afresh.
As the strong woman that she is, Ellie will establish a holistic health clinic, putting all of her energy into healing her clients. Grief remains part of her life, and she is afraid that nothing or no one will ever change how she feels. However, the door to love might open once again, with the appearance of a new neighbor. Will she be able to let go of the past? You will have to read the book to find out.
I found this to be a wonderful story, one which focused on many themes that are dear to my heart. The author managed to write a book that is both honest and inspiring, showing how and why healing might occur. Even though grief was often explored throughout the story, I was left with the impression that the author wanted to convey a different message. She wanted her readers to understand that life is beautiful, and we must find the strength to live it to the fullest.
The title of the book was what draw me to it in the first place. It seems like the perfect choice for a story that touched my heart! This is the kind of book that will make you appreciate life more, which also delivers an accurate portrayal of how strong women can be.

What a lovely and touching story! The character of the courageous young woman who deals with grief is beautifully-written, and I loved how the author delivered a perfect blend of nostalgia and hope. Without a doubt, this is an empowering story, reminding us that life can change in a moment but we can weather the storm through resilience. Great book!

Is there love again after love has been lost? Touch is the first story of an uplifting women’s fiction series of every day life, struggles, self discovery, growth, love and loss. It is also a meaningful title for this book as it is the name of Ellie’s new physiotherapy practice using principles of healing touch. It touches the heart. The story is much like a flower seemingly taking forever to blossom; but once it has, it’s beautiful.

Cairns takes her time in developing the story and the characters…even minor and cameo ones seem so real
bringing the love story to life with fleshed out characters. This, in my opinion, is Cairn’s strength. She also delves into the actual rehab process of the body with accuracy. Being a retired RN, I found this interesting. It is much easier to rehab the body than it is to rehab the heart. This is not my “go to” genre; but once in awhile I enjoy a good love story without all the explicit details. This is a well written and poignant story of love, sudden devastation and coming to terms with real life.

Here are a few of my random thoughts:
“Every new start begins with an end”…and a first step.
Grandmother Willow…love this reference! You must Google it!!!!!
I don’t know how many times I read page 222!

Cairns had brought a love story to life with fleshed out characters. This, in my opinion, is Cairn’s strength. This is a well written and poignant story of love, sudden devastation and coming to terms with real life.

Are you looking for a summertime book to read on vacation or by the pool? Touch is an inspirational romance that you can’t put down!

From the back cover:
“Touch is the first book in the uplifting Ellie Rose women’s fiction series. If you like inspiring stories of self-discovery, wounded heroes, and second-chance love, then you’ll adore Angela Cairns’ beautiful tale.”

Cairns writes a lovely and touching tale about a courageous young woman who loses her true love in a tragic accident, but learns how to live with loss. The protagonist, Ellie Rose, tackles tough issues and grows by introspection, distraction, and helping others. And with a perfect mix of British wit and wisdom!

Set in the UK, first in London and then Essex, this poignant little love story, is empowering and insightful. At times, the journey reads like memoir—Ellis Rose’s character as a physiotherapist is that believable. You’ll love the pace and prose of this easy read.

While one theme of the book deals with grief, it creates a lifelike portrayal of strength, healing, and resilience. I highly recommend Touch to readers of Women’s Fiction, romance, and inspirational novels.

Such a lovely book. A warm and loving romance about second chances after unbearable loss. Cairns treats sensitive subjects with care and understanding and introduces us to a new heroine in the form of Ellie Rose.

A dedicated physiotherapist with a deep understanding of alternative therapies and how the body works, Ellie strives to set up a new practice as a way to survive after the loss of her soulmate. Through her patients Ellie discovers a drive for life and the understanding that she doesn't have to spend her life alone.

It may be a second chance to find love, but Ellie takes life slowly and surely. This book ends up being a warm hug as both Ellie and Mark find their way, both uncertain as they overcome their losses, are they brave enough to try again? We certainly hope so!

When Physiotherapist Ellie Rose loses soulmate Brett in a tragic flying accident she believes her hopes and dreams have died with him, but sometimes the end is just the beginning...

My Review:
This is a beautiful story. Ellie Rose has lost her Australian soul-mate. She returns to England and tries to rebuild her life. Ellie is a physiotherapist and she concentrates on starting a practice and business. Family and friends help, but she’s not ready for another relationship. Or is she?

The story is gently told and I enjoyed going on Ellie’s journey with her.

Angela Cairns’ writing is wonderful. The characters are superbly drawn. I loved the dogs being a part of the story.

I give this an easy 5 Stars. I highly recommend it.

Very well written, plenty of drama and jaw-breaking action, an inspiring character who doesn’t know how to let go! And a rewarding and educational insight into physiotherapy. The writer’s style puts the reader in the midst of what’s happening, part of the “family”. So you also cry, laugh out loud, gasp as if it’s also you!
The book opens with Ellie suddenly losing her soulmate, struggling with grief, supported by some very special close friends, she gives up her unrewarding job and her demanding boss, and eventually opens her own practice. The challenges are unrelenting, but now personally rewarding. Can Ellie give herself permission to open her heart, risk taking another chance at love?

Touch is a sweet, tender story following the life of Ellie Rose as she finds herself starting all over again after the loss of a great love.

There are some heart-warming moments between Ellie and her patients (she is a physio) and the author keeps us guessing as to whether anything will develop between Ellie and her new companion.

This book is perfect for cosying up this winter and making you feel mushy. You could also listen to the audiobook version which has just been released. Makes for a perfect Christmas present too!

I don’t like having to give negative reviews because I read to be entertained. The story was mostly good but went on too much about the medical aspects. Because of slang from U.K., there were parts that I didn’t understand or took awhile to get. Case in point, at the start she was talking about physio. I figured out that it was like physical therapist. There were other words that I never really figured out the meaning, just thought what it might.

This is my honest review.

Dealt with loss and love in a very real way! Loved it!–Lexi Miles, Romance Author/Reviewer

Summary:

After the loss of her soulmate Brett, Ellie is struggling to pick up the pieces of her life. It is a strange world after he is taken suddenly. A world where she must balance never forgetting him and moving on. Will she be able to do it? Is there such thing as finding two soul mates, or will she have to live out the rest of her days alone?

Review
3 words to describe this novel: Honest, Healing, and Inspiring!

At the top of the story, Ellie is thrown into a world she could never imagine. A world without Brett. She digs deep and finds her inner strength by losing herself in work and conquering new challenges. From there, the journey begins. Although she is grieving, the story is more about the strength and beauty in life! I found it to be incredibly honest, healing, and inspiring!

I instantly loved (and hated) some of the characters. I’ve known a jerk like someone who will remain without a name. However, I adored Ells because she had strength and was very upbeat! She had a real love for life and it made me feel hopeful! She also could handle anyone if they stepped out of line! There are so many things that I can say about this well thought out and true to life story (depicting loss which is one of the most difficult things we go through as humans), but I won’t spoil it. It deserves to be read!

The title of the book “Touch” was a great pick! It made complete sense, and it could not be more perfect!

I thought the story progressed great. I did not feel as if the healing was rushed or not explored enough. I thought it was very respectful to all concerned. There were some very hot alphas in the book. I also felt that Cairns did a great job exploring the characters' connection, the complications that developed (emotionally/professionally), and it was such a great story!

Overall, I recommend TOUCH. If you want to be inspired and appreciate life that much more, than this is for you!

I most definitely give it 5 Stars!

A very charming tale about two individuals who lose the love of their life, go through a time of despair, and eventually find each other. But that tale is all told from the perspective of the young woman who returns home to England after a journey to Australia where she hoped to spend the rest of her life.

Touch, as it turns out, is the name she gives to her new business enterprise, a place where people can get hands-on treatment for all kinds of ailments that can be helped by physio manipulations and therapy. Ellie is an excellent physio therapist and eventually builds up her business. She is also a dog lover with two adorable Pointers that love her as much as she loves them. Their adventures and Ellie's settling into a new community provide plenty of narrative that fills the pages of the book.

There is also a man who comes into Ellie's life, by chance and eventually by choice. The relationship between Ellie and Mark provides fun and budding romance. They struggle with memories of past lovers and keep finding themselves drawn to each other. There are many ups and down in Ellie's life, but the reader is not disappointed in the ending of this book! I loved it!

Touch is a book about a Physiotherapist who is going through the grief process while starting out in her career. She has just lost the love of her life, her boss is an egomaniac, and she’s a workaholic. Eventually, as she gains confidence, she makes some bold life choices and learns how to move on in her life.

This book had detailed accounts of the physiotherapy process which were quite interesting. There were several chapters dedicated to the patients and their treatments.

The characters (especially some of the patients) were well-described and had rich personalities. I enjoyed Robin, and wished he would’ve been introduced sooner. The settings were also beautifully written. The cottage, the clinic. I felt like I was there.

This was an interesting book and would be best enjoyed by anyone who has been through the grieving process, or anyone who enjoys slow burn romance or the friends to lovers trope.

Audiobook: This was my first experience with Angela Cairns' work, and I found it enjoyable. Two people, both of whom have suffered loss, are brought together and an attraction flickered. Once I started listening to the story, I was so engrossed that I had to listen until the end. I liked the characters. I appreciated the information regarding physiotherapy that was included. Alexia Charalambous' narration was great and enhanced the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Touch is an inspiring story about overcoming grief and the struggles associated with what comes next. Shock, denial, pain, guilt...it beautifully describes all the aspects of a woman's journey to build a life for herself after her husband's untimely death, and how she's able to still find happiness after such tragedy.
