Queens of crime shews the various turpitudes which were committed by women in different states and cities across India in 10 different stories. We all have heard of crime stories based on men but not women. Of course! Yes, the crime that women had committed never caught up in people’s radar. Be it political or to meet their daily expenses.

These are real stories articulates the unsolved cold cases, suspected, acquitted but gone unpunished. So authors have done deep research with the help of legal and police department. I still couldn’t get through the unbelievable events in these stories, especially the triple murder.

Reading non-fiction (True stories) is always exciting. Scary but exciting. I must admit that the sharp observation, stark and clear writing style made this readable. While retelling the story would sometimes fail in enacting the stories demonstration flat. But I liked how the author's narration has masterfully weaved the explanations and clarifications of events in layers. And made this non-fiction as the proof of a job well done.

As the Book blurb says," Danger knows no Gender". The book has in total of 10 chapters describing some of the cruellest and nastiest real-life crimes that women in India have done. You'll be able to feel how the female gender which is always affiliated with sympathy, love, tolerance, care, kindness, compassion and all the other sentiments that a human cherishes for, is completely out of sight in some women and they can be the brutal being ever stood. Especially the women described inside the book. Every chapter presents an unusual story of a crime committed by women but the one that sickened me the most was 'The Baby Killer'. It was heart-wrenching.
🖤 The interesting part of the book is the facts told at the end of each chapter about the criminal. I was shocked to hear that Sneha, the criminal in 'The Triple Murder' chapter was awarded the National Prize for the Zardozi work she learnt in jail.
🖤 The language used by the authors throughout the book is very simple and relatable.
🖤 It's an interesting book that can be read in one sitting. If you want to pick a book for travel this can be an engaging one.
🖤 The book kind of scared me as reading ways through which people can perpetuate a crime so mercilessly was awful. It makes me ponder about the society we are living in and the values we are adopting.
🖤 I would suggest you read it once if you love non-fiction/ crime books.

Each story has different character with different background but the reason behind their actions are same, sheer greed for money. Depravity, dysfunctional families, sexual abuse and poverty are some of the triggers that drove these women toward crime.

The authors have tried to explore the dark side of women. The protagonists of all the stories are women who do not fit into the stereotype-frame of a "woman" of our society. Women are expected to be docile and timid but these women are brutal, greedy and emotionless, ready to do anything or kill anyone for money and passion. As the authors of the book quote "Danger knows no gender", crimes and criminals are immoral and should be seen irrespective of their gender.

The language is simple, making it a very quick read. Overall it is a very enlightening read with an intriguing cover.

The book contains 10 true crime stories of women criminals in India
.
"Okay. I need a breather" These were the exact words to myself after finishing the book. I was terrified at the coldness that the stories portrayed. I was left with a bitter aftertaste and couldn't swallow for a while.
We have become so accustomed to men committing grievous crimes that the thought of a woman committing the same or possibly more horrific crimes is a bitter pill to digest. These stories show us the worst of the worst side of women but as it has been rightly written in the book, danger knows no gender. Most of the women had male accomplices. All of the stories were equally disturbing but the authors saved the best for the last. "The baby killers" instigated a nauseous reaction in me and I am left wondering why did it happen. I know that the root cause of the crimes were passion or greed or jealousy but these are emotions that reside in every person. So why does these effect some people so much that they forget their basic instinct, i.e not to hurt other human beings. I am also still thinking how does a woman generate so much hatred.
.
Once I had finished the book, I saw in the last page that Sushant Singh is the same one as the host of Savadhan India. I like his narration a lot. The authors have done a great job portraying these women and not dramatizing the stories. My rating 5/5.

Book is written in a lucid style and simple language. Crime story lovers will enjoy to the brim. This book contains 10 true crime stories of cold-blooded women criminals from India. I enjoyed the story with a rundown of espionage. The story where psychologically disturbed women mercilessly kills children and babies is extremely disturbing! My overall rating is 4/5.
Warning: Readers with a faint heart, OCDs, heart problems, anxiety, sleep disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, psychological problems, PTSDs, etc must NOT read this anthology of crime.

Queens of crime by Kulpreet yadav and Sushant Singh is an absolute treat to read.

This novel has 10 short stories about women criminals from India, which are amazing and shocking as they are true.

It helps us understand why those women became criminals under different circumstances, some of them became even dangerous criminal after being convicted and some also tried to improve.

I am truly amazed by some stories of it, specially the initial story about drug mafia and sex racket, those just blew my mind.

Narration and writing style is fantastic and a plus point for this novel, each and every story has amazing characters which makes you feel like watching a web series with different episodes.

Another great thing about this book is the research work, which is commendable.
Every story gives you a proper feeling of reality as they cover every fact and detail.

Their is a lot to talk about this book as each story deserves a separate review, but then why shouldn't you pick and enjoy a pacy and thrilling read. So go ahead and I promise it won't disappoint you.

It is a collection of 10 short stories where women became the Queen of Crimes. Being victim of poverty, sexual abuse, domestic violence, betrayal etc these women were forced to walk on path of crime and brutality.

What I loved the most is the writing style and the its flow. Being based on true events the touch of effective narration is amazing. Being short stories, no details were left out unexplained.

The stories have the power to keep the reader hooked and leave them wanting for more. Interesting facts at the end of each story conveyed a bit of after story which really is interesting because it feeds the curiosity.

I would definitely recommend this book to everyone looking for a short crime stories. It'll definitely give you Savdhan India vibes.

This book has 10 different stories of women residing in major cities of our nation whose stories of crime are enough to give you nightmares. The reason for crime varies from person to person. Some has dysfunctional families, extreme poverty, extra marital affairs while others face sexual harassment, greed for money and fame, ego satisfaction of one which led them to attempt dangerous murders and also sometimes due to loss of ones moral conscience. Whatever the reasons are they enough to give to chills. The cover of the book itself have a creepy vibe and it very well reflects the kind of stories inked inside it.

These criminals are not someone walking with crippled legs, long hairs and making weird noises ,they are normal looking human beings who stay among us. Some of them are are locked up in jail but many are still roaming in the streets might be finding their next prey.

The most terrifying of all stories was the one about the baby killer. Dozens of children in various cities across Maharashtra went missing(1990-96) . These children's after getting abducted never went back home. Most of them were toddlers or infants.
Another one was about a woman who on facing extreme poverty and debt came to city to earn money and end up in jail registering a bunch a murder cases on her name.
There are such many horror striking stories captured inside this book.
The author Sushant Singh hosted the crime based reality show Savdhan India. I enjoyed his style as a host and here I am liking him an author also. The narration was beautiful. All the stories are based on real life people.
So if you planning to read this book then get ready to enter the world of "Queens of Crime"

The fact that this book is all about the true stories of women criminals gives me chills. I have been thinking about this book for hours and hours and I was just so shook of what this world has turned into. This book gives a demonstration of how we shouldn't go after somebody's looks, because they have a whole other personality hidden inside, but before that, how these women in desperate need of something, it maybe money, fame, or even happiness, can go to the extent where they forget their basic values of life. I can understand their situation and the reason behind what they did but I cannot respect them because they could've chosen any other way to get what they want but instead they chose the immoral way. This book really opened my eyes, I read about somethings which I thought never existed upto such extents. This book really gave me a lesson about this world and not anything in this world is innocent and if it were, it can change due to desperation.

Book Title: Queens of Crime: True Stories of Women Criminals from India
Author: Sushant Singh, Kulpreet Yadav
Format: Paperback

Book Title:
The title of the book ' Queens of Crime: True Stories of Women Criminals from India ' is self-explanatory.

Book Cover:
The cover image of the book is a woman's face in red light and she has an abstract expression on her face. The image creates chills in the spine when seen after reading the title.

About the author(s):

Sushant Singh: A film and television actor, Sushant Singh hosted the crime-based reality show Savdhaan India for almost seven years. He is the honorary general secretary of the Cine & TV Artistes' Association. This is his first book.

About the book:
This book is a collection of 10 short stories based on women criminals from India. The reasons for which those women committed the gruesome crimes are actually very depressing and shocking to read. The family issues due to economic reasons and such other, abuse, greed and sometimes lust are few main reasons behind every crime mentioned. Being a woman and portraying every role committing such crimes is a brave act in a way and also a ghastly step.

My review:
With a strong language and shocking facts, the book makes for an insightful read.  It shows how some women powerful for all the wrong reasons have been in the world hugely which is dominated by men. The book is an interesting read where the role of woman in each of the 10 stories mentioned make the reader go wordless.

What I like:
1. The concept of bringing forward this book by the authors
2. It is also not to be forgotten to congratulate and Thank Mr.Sushant Singh to take up this initiative
3. The incidents stated are described very realistically
4. The effect of sudden economic barriers which create unrest and then ultimately leads to becoming a criminal are illustrated very coherently.

What I didn't like:
Nothing to be disliked as this is more than fiction books.

Characters:
The characters introduced in every story are very near to the real person. The balance and strength of the characters are appreciated.

Narration:
A very practical approach with a surreal experience is found with gripping narration.

Language & Grammar:
Very fine language with good vocabulary is found.

My Final Verdict:
Interesting, insightful and shocking book!

Title - Queens of crime.
Author - Sushant Singh & culprit Yadav

Qotd - Do you watch any crime show?

Queens of crimes demonstrates a haunting criminal power that most people do not associate with women.
The book consists of  10 real stories of women committing crimes. And in almost every case, these women became criminal due to their greed of earning more and living a high profile lifestyle. While some of them started their career in the world of crime to feed their children and family but became the controller of that field. In lady don, she murdered a man to save herself and this leads her to cause another crime and soon she became the mummy of everyone in her area. In 'Queen of dark', an innocent girl who was living her life with her ill father and mother whose only dream is to get their children education but soon their dreams shattered when the only earner of the family died. Family is in debt and the young girl has to leave her education and started earning money which lends her in prostitution. From that innocent girl, she became the queen of the dark. Even after having strong proof against, police could never keep .her in jail for long. Well, i have a strong belief and faith in our constitution but after reading this case. I felt that due to the loopholes of some laws, criminals like her cannot be punished. But then I realised that we believe that it is better to release  100 criminals than punishing an innocent. But does it really happen?? I think people with money and power often get successful in getting bail.
In 'the tinder murder' she tried to defend herself by saying that man like them, who cheats their wife and have an eye for another woman should be punished. In 'honey trap', a woman in high position falls in love with a man and starts transferring the important information to ISI.So, whatever we believe committing a crime is not associated with any particular gender. Anyone who has no control over their desires, greed and wrong morality can be a criminal.
Well, the narration is really smooth and few chapters remind me of episodes of savdhaan India . The cover is according to the people and the title is catchy. Well recommended to those who seek for reading new genre and realistic novel.

🔪 “When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in, he has no choice but to become an outlaw.”

🔪 What’s Crime? Why does one commit crime? What do you think, an act which is unlawful is justified or not??

🔪 But above all, what image you get when you think of a crime? A murder? A robbery? Blood? But, do you imagine a woman committing a crime? Probably no..usually we link crimes with men..But this is an amazing book of true tales of crimes committed by women.

🔪 The triggers that drove and encouraged the women to take the bold steps of crime are dysfunctional families, sexual abuse, sheer greed and sometimes just a skewed moral compass.

🔪 Queens of Crime demonstrates a haunting criminal power that most people do not associate women with.

🔪 The book contains 10 true incidents of Indian female criminals, each described beautifully and includes interesting facts related to the cases.

🔪 The language is simple and the narration is enticing making the readers curious to know what’s the causes and consequences of the unlawful acts.

🔪 The acts of depravity jolts the readers to the core, making readers wonder is this really possible in the country where women are related to beauty and innocence.

It is a collection of short stories each highlighting a criminal. A woman criminal. It includes all the details of their past, their mindset, their many heists, their escape, their capture, and jail life. It is like a police report. I have not seen one but I think, it would be like this book. The book had all the specific details. It helps us to understand why the criminal did such heinous acts. It is a collection of well-chosen Queens of Crime.
The narrative was excellent. I never felt bored with any of the stories. It had a natural flow. It focuses on the past explaining why these individuals started doing the crime and how they execute it and finally how they get caught. I especially liked the Interesting Facts part at the end of each story. One of the thrilling points of the book for me was realizing that the criminals mentioned in the book who managed to escape from the police could actually be reading this book. I am sure I would definitely want to read about myself if there ever was a book written about me.
The main reason that I felt for all these criminals to loot, kill, smuggle was their greed and money. It was explained clearly with the past of each criminal. One wants to be very rich, one wants to be a successful actress, one wants to be powerful. It was a very interesting book. It would have been great if it was just fiction. But alas, it is the hard truth. It was repulsive to read all the gruesome ways they committed murder, thievery. Again it made me wonder how much a human being can make another human suffer. Overall, it was quite an engrossing book. You could finish it in one go too. I would rate it 5/5.

If we ever think about a female gender you will surely think about their problems which they face, sexual abuse, harassment. But this book will surely blew up your mind seeing women as the criminal don doing illegal things and living their life's as a law breaker.
Queens of Crime shows you 10 such stories of women criminals in india and their crimes which will leave you jaw drop and indeed blew up your mind.

A page turner and also recommended, every reader will come across while reading that a women does not mean only softhearted and to face harassment but they also have a life to live and can become don and do crimes if they are required to do so!

Cover of the book is eye-caychy, the title of the book is interesting and much related to the plot of the book.

As I picked up this book I didn't read the blurb so I thought is it about the crime which we see in crime petrol episode, but as I read the first story my mind was blewed up like what is this, crime like these also happen, the women empowerment in an illegal form!

Coming up to the plot of the book, there are 10 stories settled up in different part's of India, which are based on unbelievable but true rendition of Indian's women criminals.

Narration, is simple and lucid, a good read it is! All the stories are indeed interesting and a page-turner too!

A unique plot till now which I have read!
As coins gave two side, female gender can also have two sides!

Indeed a must read!
An engrossing read, with ten different gripping tales of Indian's women criminals.

I can't believe I completed this book.
The book is a real thriller.

For being a criminal it is not required for you to hold a gun or fire one.. the disastrous situations you make others face that lead them to commit crime also make you one.

Whenever we hear the word criminal it's the male word that comes to our mind.. but this book tells the story of other side of coin. And they are the females.
This book consists of 10 short stories based on female criminals and beware these all stories will give you goosebumps.

🍁I loved the way author has successfully managed to put his thoughts into each story. How poverty, lack of support, dysfunctional families, domestic violence lead one to commit crimes.
But this is also the truth that to become a criminal it's a choice and not fate.
🍁 The cover of the book is beautifully mysterious that kinda depicts its contents.
🍁Title couldn't be more apt.
🍁I have read the previous work of the author and it wouldn't be wrong to say that he has mastered in writing thrilling stories. His both books have left me wanting more.
🍁 The research work author has done to complete this book is beyond praising.
🍁 Every small details in the story or about the lives of its characters has only made the book more interesting.
‌I loved this and would recommend it to everyone who loves to read. You are not required to be a fan of thrillers.

A mother is a woman who can do anything for their child, but what if a woman can be a baby killer? There is a case which happened many years ago, kept at the last of the book, and that ended the book with goosebumps.

Being all these true events, and also written from Author Sushant Singh, who hosted True Crime serial 'Savdhan India' it all made it feel real and spooky.

No human being has a thought inside that they will commit any crime, the situation, the consequences, the emotions at that moments make them commit such crimes, and some may feel the guilt, but some do it in a cold-blooded way which means they don't feel anything inside, no emotions nothing and that's what made it so spine-chilling stories of crime.

Not for faint-hearted but a must-read.

I Love It!

Another great thing about this book is the research work, which is commendable.
Every story gives you a proper feeling of reality as they cover every fact and detail
Although neither the crime nor the criminals are justified, the circumstances leading to the crime made me rather sympathetic. Dysfunctional families, poverty, abuse, greed or just a skewed moral compass can be a trigger to the most heinous crime. Thus I reached to the conclusion that criminals are not born rather made by circumstances.
This is the first time I read something like this and found it to be greatly fascinating. The language is simple and the narration is enticing making the readers curious to know what’s the causes and consequences of the unlawful acts.

The acts of depravity jolts the readers to the core, making readers wonder is this really possible in the country where women are related to beauty and innocence.

" QUEENS OF CRIME "

Remember⚠

" DANGER HAS NO GENDER "

Well what can I say about this book just that I'm totally trilled!!

So connecting "feminism" word with the women's portrayed in the stories of this book its clearly stated that there is no such kind of feminism which led you to crime or else we can state them as RADICAL FEMINIST

While watching several TV shows which encounter you with crime stories there was most of the stories about mens ,womens was always been portrayed as soft hearted and least involved in crime and of course society will always have a soft side for women then the men when it comes to being an suspect!

So basically the pages of this book is inked by "10" diffrnt stories of women criminals and after finishing each story I literally has goosebumps not only because of the crime that they had done but also because of the well narration!

Would really recommended this book to each and everyone who thinks that women has only played as a victim in a society

Cover and title got my attention at first

Do you think crime has a gender?

You will never know the psychopath sitting next to you. You will never know a murderer sitting next to you.-- Twenty One Pilots (Heathens)

These lines are of the song from the above band which is earned by this book. I'm very quirky when it comes to crime mystery. Stories should not leave my mind or imagination. Then only I consider them as good stories. While reading these stories, I felt the same. There are 10 short stories about how a woman compelled others and herself to commit crime swiftly.

Criminals are not made, they have created themselves. There are ways to deal with situations and crises. When you get a thought similar to crimes. You can stop yourself and move your mindset.

How a female uses her gender to victimize others, is portrayed clearly. Yes, we have a general mindset, "Oh she looks presentable that means she can't be a criminal". Stricter laws should be made against criminals and somewhere while reading it, I found loopholes in the system and our society. Which leads to increase in crime.

Read by yourself to feel thrill and nervousness at the same time.

Is anyone born criminal ? Do they have it in their genes ? Or is it their circumstances that make them criminals ?

So is the killing joke true ?  "All it takes is one bad day" ?

Or is it sheer greed of getting rich overnight, poverty, illiteracy ? Or plain lunacy ?

You never know !

Queens of crime is a collection of 10 short stories; stories of women who wreaked havoc in their own lives as well as in the lives of numerous innocents !
Flesh trade, drug trafficking, brutality in killings and robbing, revenge and what not !

These tales are spine chilling, not only because how barbaric these crimes are, but also these criminals are/were 'apparently' normal humans like us, were born crying like us, some were even married, had kids and their own family! It's unnerving because they inhabited amongst us, in our society, and some are still lurking under our nose, till this day !

The extensive research on these criminals gives us an insight into their lives, backgrounds, methods and thinking.

I must say, this was a great book.

As you would have probably guessed by my previous reviews of other books, I am very interested in reading crime thrillers and criminal stories which keep you on the edge until the very end.

When I read the blurb of 'Queens of Crime', I had a mixed feeling about the book. I did not know whether I should read it and give it a chance or whether I should just leave it as it is. However, something made me read it and boy was I happy that I did. It has definitely been a long time since I read a 5 star book and this made it to the list.

'Queens of Crime' by Kulpreet Yadav and Sushant Singh is a book which contains ten different types of stories of women criminals. How they became criminals, why they became criminals and what they suffered after being criminals, are all there in the book. The harsh picture of what awaits you once become a criminal makes it spine-chilling especially as these are 'true stories'.

All the stories are different. They are set in a different part of the country, against a different backdrop and involving various people from different backgrounds and timelines. However one thing remains the same in all the ten stories, that is, these stories are of women into all the different types of crime one can imagine — drug peddling, water mafia, contract killing, honey trapping men through online portals, kidnapping babies, prostitution and what not.

Although they have become criminals currently, they used to come from a modest background, when their first crime was committed due to certain desperate and extreme situations. But as one soon as they got the whiff of committing crimes, they started committing crimes full time due to various reasons. All the stories provided a detailed explaining about the backgrounds of the women and the circumstances leading them to commit such a heinous thing.

The cover of the book is quite catchy and mysterious while the narration is pretty simple, crisp and fast-paced. The interesting way the authors present each story, makes the readers want to know all the more about the story. The whole concept of the book is unique and it's definitely a page-turner.
I would definitely suggest this book to all. You certainly don't need to be a fan of crime thrillers to read this, but you can read this just to gain knowledge of what's actually going on in the world.
