Angela Maria Lambert was a British journalist and author. She is best known for her novels A Rather English Marriage and Kiss and Kin, the latter of which won the Romantic Novel of the Year Award.
A good read, but not a 'must read'. Well written, intelligent. It feels slightly dated to me, but I can't put my finger on why. It reminds me of Barbara Pym, but without her slightly acidic touch, and I've resolved to reread 'A Quartet in Autumn'
a rather charming read. slightly sad & slightly comic. I watched the film recently & years ago & thoroughly enjoyed. Albert Finney, Tom Courtney & Joanna Lumbley caught the characters perfectly & matched the book to precision. Looking forward further books by this author now
A thought provoking story of two elderly widowers from different ends of the social spectrum who end up sharing a house. It is quite amusing in a blackish way.
Entertaining yet sad. This book made me think of my life as a wife and mother; the things I've done and could have done differently. No use dwelling on the past. Move on, one day at a time.
Quite readable, but I didn’t like either of the main characters much, and with a much different ending than I was expecting, it seemed to be some sort of morality tale.
