A good read, but not a 'must read'. Well written, intelligent. It feels slightly dated to me, but I can't put my finger on why.
It reminds me of Barbara Pym, but without her slightly acidic touch, and I've resolved to reread 'A Quartet in Autumn'

a rather charming read. slightly sad & slightly comic. I watched the film recently & years ago & thoroughly enjoyed. Albert Finney, Tom Courtney & Joanna Lumbley caught the characters perfectly & matched the book to precision. Looking forward further books by this author now

Entertaining yet sad. This book made me think of my life as a wife and mother; the things I've done and could have done differently. No use dwelling on the past. Move on, one day at a time.
