Rate this book
A monster’s in your room . . . what do you do? Call Granny’s Dragon, she’ll protect you!

Granny knows a thing or two about scary monsters: how to keep one busy (with pajamas and teeth brushing), and what to feed one (delicious monster stew). But what happens when Granny can’t be there? What happens if the monster goes invisible? Not to worry, Granny’s got a plan for that, too—a very big plan. Monsters are no match for Granny’s dragon! From popular author Lisa McCourt and whimsical illustrator Cyd Moore comes this sweet story about the power of the imagination to comfort and soothe bedtime worries.

Summary:
This sweet book is about a little girl that is staying at her grandmother's house. She is told to get ready for bed, but she expresses her concern about there being monsters in her room. Her grandmother chuckles and tries to convince the little girl she is going to be safe by providing things like monster soup and telling the monster to brush its teeth. The little girl is not buying it and continues being upset with the idea of being in the room alone. The grandmother then calls upon her dragon that the monsters are scared of, and she stays with the little girl the entire night protecting her from the monsters.

Analysis:
I think this is a sweet story with a very intelligent approach to keep children from being nervous about what might be in the dark. The art was so beautiful, and the plot line made me laugh. This is definitely a book I would share with friends and family.

Classroom Ideas:
This book can be used to encourage children to imagine the positives instead of only the scary things. I think that this book can help children build confidence when they are uncomfortable and can be more okay with change.

Great book where a grandmother shares her imagination with her granddaughter. I think it is a good book for helping children use their imagination. Good read for ages 3-7. It also has good illustrations to go along with the story.

I think that this would be a good book for younger children that still believe that there are monsters sleeping under their beds. The little girl's grandma helped dimiinish her fear about monsters. The grandma sends in her dragon to help guard her from the scary monsters.

Cute story and illustrations were very vibrant. I like how Granny was depicted as being a more modern grandparent as opposed to how they are depicted in other stories.

This book is about a girl being afraid that a monster will eat her in the middle of the night. Granny explains that no monster will be able to get her because Granny would make the monster follow all of the rules too. Her granddaughter was not convinced so Granny said she would call her nice dragon to protect her during the night.
Rating: 4 stars
The book was really cute and I loved to illustrations. I also really loved that Granny helped the girl overcome her fear and explained to her why she shouldn't be afraid of the monsters.
