Joia Love is all about… well, Joia. Her primary interests right now are how creative she can get with her video camera, how much weight she can bench press, and her social media brand.
A man doesn’t even factor into her top five.
Especially not Theodore Graham, the ex-boyfriend committed to becoming her next boyfriend. Teddy’s charm and funny demeanor aren’t limited to his videos, and he’s fully prepared to pull out all the stops to rekindle their college romance.
In the midst of a shocking revelation, Joia is just trying to process it all, while Teddy is trying to secure his place at her side.
She may not want a replay with Teddy, but as it turns out… she might need him after all.
Sooo I had no idea this was a surprise pregnancy book. It happens really early on, so the entire book has to do with that surprise pregnancy. What's annoying about that, then, is that the heroine doesn't tell the father, even when she is interacting with him for quite a while. I get she was trying to process everything, but I didn't love that she knew and literally didn't tell him until she accidentally let it slip. The whole plot revolves around that drama, so it wasn't my favorite. The ending also wrapped up too quickly and I wasn't bought into their relationship.
This installment in the series was definitely a little less comedic/fun than the first book; however, it was still enjoyable. 3.5 Stars
I Think I Might Need You is the second installment in the Love Sisters series and focuses on influencer Joia Love and her ex Teddy. While going live with her sisters, Joia ends up discovering a big surprise which ends up being a major plot point for the rest of the book. There was definitely a more serious vibe about this book than the first of the series. Joia is not only a difficult character to adjust to, she's also not extremely likeable in some aspects. It is clear that she hasn't let go of a lot of her pain and grief and as a result she struggles with trusting and building a relationship with Teddy. As a reader, this can read as frustrating because Teddy is such a sweet and endearing character. Of course, I still found the book to be enjoyable and exciting to read. Jones does an interesting thing with this book in relation to understanding and respecting boundaries. As a social media user/influencer, I appreciated how she carefully illustrates the importance and necessity of boundaries. It's one thing to connect with individuals who support your social media endeavors, but it's another when those same individuals feel like they have a right to encroach on the most personal aspects of your life. It's an interesting topic and one that I don't think gets discussed enough especially from the perspective of creators who may want to establish more rigid boundaries, but fear getting called out. Overall, this was another good addition to the series. It was also great seeing some of the characters from the Wright brothers series.
I actually enjoyed the dynamic of Joia and Teddys relationship but the story felt incomplete. And even though they spilled over into book 3, I was still left wanting more from them. It didnt feel like they were truly able to get their ish together before the book ended and they had A LOT going on 🥴
I enjoyed this story.....I think the narration was a disappointment for some, but, for me it was decent....I believe CCJ's writing style will translate no matter who the narrator is for me...Now, truthfully some just narrate better than others...All in all, I still got the just of the story.
The second read was the re-release of the audiobook with a multi case
An unfortunate DNF @chapter 9/13 The accidental pregnancy storyline just isn’t for me. This one is not a fun banter filled romance like the first book unfortunately and thats all I wanted.
if you want something quick, good, and steamy pick this series up... love that each book can be read in one sitting and still has all the elements of longer books...
Yes I am that person who disappears in a corner during Thanksgiving Day craziness to read. And I needed something short, cute and feel good that I could either finish or be pulled away from in order to referee family craziness.
This book fit the bill. No real review, but is was cute second chance at love book that was funny and extra bonus, I kept picturing the hero, Teddy, to look a lot like Winston Duke. I really enjoy the sister relationship and the family aspect. This is a novella but this author works this format really well.
Took a star off because of the ending. I needed more... more... closure? But maybe we'll followup in the next book? Hope so.
3.5 as well. I really enjoyed this one as well. It was light and quick. I don't feel that we really got to know Theo though and the ending felt very abrupt but again I hope we'll know more in the next one. It is a second chance romance and the reasons for the break-up were valid, I liked that he had to grovel and she kept standing up for herself. The blurb mentions a "shocking revelation" and I feel it's unfair not to say what it is because it happens in chap 1. I'll still put it under a spoiler tag but I kind of wish I had known . I really liked the discussion around privacy and influencers. The way some people have no boundaries when it comes to influencers' private lives. I find the idea of living your private life in public strange, personally but that's what Joia has chosen and I liked how she thought about setting boundaries for herself. Those would not be my boundaries but whatever works for her. Onto the next!
Not CCJ’s greatest, and DEFINITELY not as good as the first book in the series.
I feel like Joia took way too long to reveal who the baby daddy was. I get being shocked that you’re almost 5 months pregnant and didn’t realize it, but that’s not a reason to hold off on telling the father.
The hero, Teddy, was just this corny (in a good way) influencer who could make a joke out of everything. I do think Joia was justified in dumping him all those years ago, but I think he knew where he went wrong and had grown out of those ways.
And that ending fell FLAT. We didn’t even get to see the baby born. It literally cut off on them implying they’ll move in together and she’s still around 20ish weeks keeping the gender a surprise. I know the last sister’s book may clue us in to the baby being born but I don’t feel like we should have to read about that in another book.
Overall - the audio was good, but Jaclyn’s book is still top tier for me, and is going to be hard to beat.
You kinda run out of superlatives when reviewing a CCJ book. At this juncture I feel like she's the gold standard and in a league of her own. Her inimitable style and storytelling seem to never disappoint. She'll have you laughing OUT LOUD one moment, and in your feelings the next. So gifted and I'm happy that she shares it with her fans on a consistent basis.
If accidental pregnancy plots aren’t your thing, this one might not be for you but then you’d be missing out on the Wright brothers. I thought I had Teddy and Joia’s story all figured out until an ex showed up and threw things off but in the end, it wrapped up just the way I hoped. Also, I don’t know about anyone else, but I love getting a peek behind the scenes on the lives of social media influencers maybe it’s because I’m a content creator myself and I get it but those those moments always pull me in.
"I Think I Might Need You" is the second installment of the "Love Sisters Series". This installment focuses on Joia Love. This story gave me all the feels and I loved Joia and Teddy's relationship, although Joia did work a nerve a time or two, lol. The plot was super sweet and even a little unexpected. Teddy, Teddy, Teddy. <3
Featuring: Pregnancy, Second Chance Trope, YouTubers, Sisters, Sex - Detailed, Vulgar Language
Rating as a movie: R
Song for the soundtrack: "Forever My Lady" by Jodeci
My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My thoughts: Why do all of her books open up with bars? These rhymes were intentionally whack so they won't be stuck in my head like the song that opened that last book. There is a medical issue in the book and the advice they give is so incorrect, you would be on pelvic rest, absolutely no sex or lifting! So, that got on my nerves. This book wasn't as funny as the first book but I enjoyed it.
Recommend to others?: Yes! It had some good moments and I'm really feeling this series.
I’m just loving the journey of the Love sisters! Jaclyn is still my favorite but Joia is coming in a close second. And don’t get me started on Teddy. Can’t wait for Jemma’s book. Her hardheaded behind is going to have a doozy of a story.
It’s hilarious, it’s unique, it’s honest, it’s sexy it’s everything. Literally everything I wanted it to be and more. Still I wish it was just a tiny bit longer I’m already going through withdrawals. I love Christina C Jones so much it’s unreal!!!!!
This was a cute and enjoyable novella. This book did have me laughing quite a bit. The MMC teddy was hilarious and I loved how he pursued Joia like he did. The sister bond between Joia and her other two sisters was so cute and they had me cracking up too. I just wish we got to see more of the romance side with Joia and Teddy. I feel like there wasn’t that chemistry that I usually love reading about in quick novellas .
The way this book said “The End” i was like “damn!” Yes i know it’s a quick read and i do like the characters. Hell i even liked the overall plot and how things were laid out. It just stopped so abrupt. I think if certain things got cut out there could have been a more fulfilling ending. Like prime example we didn’t need that interaction at the gym with those girls. That could have gave us more time with the MCs. Overall it was cute.
I felt like Joia was constantly brushing Teddy off. Every-time he was shaking interest it was as if she was second guessing it all. I get he hurt her in the past but baby leave that there and let’s move forward.. maybe it was just me.
Still really cute and hilarious, but I prefer second chance romance (and the pregnancy trope) with a little bit more angst (and preferably an epilogue to see their baby? 🥺)
Okay wait this was waaaay too cute omg and soooo freaking funny omg! Also, it’s something about a second chance romance that’s just going eat every single fucking timeeeeeeeeeeeee! Also, we love a man who steps the fuck up to be a dad and is fine af while doing it 😭 loveeee me some teddy whew
