Little Brown Rabbit leaves his cozy burrow in search of the warm breezes and green grass of Spring, but what he finds are snowy fields, a frosty forest, slippery ice, and prickly hedges filled with the animals of Winter.

The opening page of this book has the lines “It’s been winter for so long...When will spring be here?” and I knew this was the book for me, because I’m already over winter and it’s only fall. As Little Brown Rabbit searches for winter each page is filled with animals—some are obvious, others are curled up sleeping in nooks and crannies, and others still are easy to miss as they blend in with the winter background. I really enjoyed exploring each landscape for the different animals and I’m sure it would delight a child as well. The embossing on all the pages is also very fun to run your fingers over, and helps to find the white animals on the white background. I’m very grateful Little Brown Rabbit, with the help of many animals along the way, was eventually able to find and enjoy spring.
Great late winter book. Beautiful illstrations, embossed pages, hidden animals and animal prints to look for. Would be a good read aloud but an excellent lap sharing book.
Kirjassa on paperisivuja paksummat ja pahvisivuja ohuemmat, kiiltäväpintaiset sivut, joilla on kohokuviointia. Suloinen, perinteikäs kuvitus. Tarinassa kaniini odottaa malttamattomana kevättä ja etsii kevään merkkejä lähiluonnosta. Tätä luettiin meillä lumien sulaessa maalis-huhtikuussa.
Beautiful illustrations with embossed detail which feels lovely to run your fingers over and tilt to catch the light. The story is very simple - a young rabbit is tired of winter so he sets out to find spring, meeting various other woodland animals along the way. A charming read for age 2+. I will be adding this to my box of Winter/Christmas-themed books for reading together on cold winter evenings.
