A fractured couple, and a twisted killer.

Derek "Slater" Banez was a military lifer, until PTSD got the better of him. After quitting his black ops career with MIT, the bureau offers Slater a position in Utah as an FBI training instructor. When he runs into Kathleen Quinn—the love of his life—Slater will be placing everything he holds dear on the line. Except she's no longer the woman he used to know.

Kat fell hard for the deadly sniper but when he betrayed her trust, she walked away. Now Kat holds dangerous secrets, and keeping the man who destroyed her heart on the periphery is the least of her problems.

When a ruthless serial killer sets his sight on Kat, Slater will put his own life and career on the line. Can Slater keep Kat alive, or will he place her and his former MIT team in the crosshairs of a determined killer?

I write fast-paced, gritty romantic suspense. I've lived an adventurous - sometimes harebrained - life in South Africa, the Middle East, and Utah. Thanks to numerous careers and escapades (Jill of all trades, master of some) I've been lucky enough to have traveled the globe.

I love to write about strong independent women and the men that support them. I try not to include any weak-ass protagonists in my books - if I ever do - you have permission to kick my typist bum. When I'm not writing about men whose beards smell of Cordite, I work as a Corporate Trainer in Utah.

I love British Chocolate, and my little wigglebum 'British' Cocker Spaniel.

I am hooked, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I am hooked on this series and this author and I can’t get enough. The fourth former member of the MIT, Slater, who we have met and I’ve been dying for his story and what happened with Kat, his one and only love. The two were together for years and after many months of Slater’s PTSD, which was taking a toll on their relationship, he makes a mistake, a mistake that costs him dearly. Now almost two years later, he runs into Kat at his cousin’s apartment. He can’t get over the hurt that she ignored him when he was injured years ago but when he finds out why....he’s shattered once again but this time he’ll be there for her....
Oh boy oh boy oh boy....the emotions were coming off of the pages in waves....heartache, heartbreak, betrayal, PTSD, love, and to top it off, suspense, action, steam...ahem the steam....oh my. I was a bit worried about Slater and the two years they were apart, but the author surprised me and I’m so HAPPY with what he didn’t do while they were apart...made the characters, the love and the sincerity of their emotions that much more. I LOVED these two and the returning of past characters, always having each other’s backs.
The story flowed beautifully with a couple of twists I didn’t see coming and the ending had me holding my breath...HOLY SMOKES....that blew me out of the water and white knuckling it throughout it...now that was suspense and action...I am a huge huge fan and can’t wait for more !!!

This is the fourth book in the Mobile Intelligence Team series by Louise Dawn.

This is unlike other romantic suspense books. The couple started out together and circumstances and mental illness forced them apart. Derek “Slater” Banez had PTSD that crushed his world making him act out in ways that hurt his girlfriend Kat Quinn. Both were in intense life-threatening situations not long after their breakup and each saw the other in their time of dire need. When Derek finally learns of the attack on Kat, he nearly loses his mind and goes into research mode to bring the man down.

This book was sweet and heart-breaking at the same time. You feel for both characters in their specific situations and wonder if you would have acted any differently in their places. This book is unputdownable in that way. You need to know what the outcome will be and thus you read, read, read until the conclusion.

Great romantic suspense. I will definitely be checking out the other three books in this series since thus book was so stellar.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

Jade in the Snow is an action-packed adventure! This can be read as a stand alone, but is more enjoyable if you read the series in order. Slater is determined to start fresh with a new position, until the one he pushed away comes back into his life. Kat is so strong and will win you over from the moment you meet her. Louise Dawn has a way of inviting the reader into the story and making you feel as though your a part of it. Action, romance and drama - this book has it all!

This is the 4th book in this series. Derek and Kat were together at the start of this book and due to life that has happened to them both they seperated under upsetting circumstances. After some time has passed their paths cross again but Kat has a serial killer after her. this is a really good ex military romance very well written and the thread of the story has a really great twist to it. an emotional and on your edge of the seat book. Now I am going to go back and read the first three books as this author is very good.

I can’t believe Louise Dawn has slipped through my sites, because I loved JADE IN THE SNOW. And even though it’s the fourth book in her Mobile Intelligence Team (MIT) series, I didn’t feel lost. This book is both exhilarating and heart-breaking, because Derek “Slater” Banez and Kathleen Quinn started out as a great couple. Then Slater’s PTSD drove them apart and a serial killer set his sights on Kat. These are two immensely likeable characters, richly developed with strong, emotional depth and a realness to them. Dawn does a great job of creating a setting where life happened to Slater and Kat, separating them, before the action and danger of the suspense takes hold. Great twists, steamy romance, and compelling plot.

Slater was with her therapist and told him he had the dream again last night. This was his second therapist, the first one he couldn’t connect with. He respected Seth, he had also served his country like Slater/Derek and was Slater’s newly assigned MIT therapist. After Slater had been blown up by a grenade and had left his tier one team-Mobile Intelligence Team Two - he had a heart to heart with his MIT supervisor about his PTS issues. MIT therapist could discuss sensitive and classified mission programs due to their high clearance levels, and without their guidance Slater wouldn’t have survived the last year. Seth said Slater knew it helped to talk. Seth would offer a different perspective. Seth had combat experience. The night terror was a reenactment of the Black Friday Bombing that happened just over four and a half years Slater is a Protection Specialist and it was his duty to keep his team safe. But they were backing another team It wasn’t their mission and he was on overwatch that day. The op was supposed to be a quick in and out. They were to retrieve a converted asset-Sharon NAssari from a busy mall in Manhattan, she was a beaten wife who was married to an extremist who was ready to give up the cell’s secrets. They got some bad intel and were on the wrong level Reilly had lounged for Sharon Nassari’s little girl and the suicide vest . Slater was blown off his feet . It felt like he’d been hit by a grenade and blacked out Of the sixty three dead, twenty two were children. Slater tried to save as many as he could. He had dug out kids, infants, and parents. Thenhe came to a little girl about three years old hanging on to her dead mother’s hand and cried for her to wake up. The child died just as Slater got her in his arms. The fatal moment had driven Slater over the edge. Last night his dream had crossed over to his Nigerian nightmare . It melded the grenade blast with in Lagos. That had been why Slater left his team. Slater than started his career with the FBI. Slater had unique capabilities in training agents for overseas assignments. It was Slater’s responsibility to prepare agents for war zones at the facility being built now. Slater told Seth” Everyone around me dies, people, relationships, my soul.” Seth said, “ That’s a destructive assumption that prevents you from healing.” Slater had a new life life that didn’t include killing , explosions, or ex-girlfriends. Now he’d be training and saving lives, instead of exterminating them. It was nine p.m. and Kate/Kat couldn’t wait to be done with this blind date and get home to her bed. Rolf just wasn’t her idea of a good date no one had been since Derek. Today is her birthday and Kat spent it with a stranger. Kat was building up her clientele in a new business-Virtual Consultant-while preparing for a book launch which took all her time. Slater went over to caseys- his cousin and one of his best friends- and Kat was there- the lights had gone out. Kat left shortly after Slater/Derek got there. The next morning as she waited for her plane Kat knew she could never see Derek again. She harbored a dangerous secret that could destroy Derek’s world.
Excellent book, I absolutely loved it. I didn’t want to put this down and I rarely did. I loved everything about this book. I loved Slater and Kat together and how they interacted. I absolutely loved the ending. I loved the action, intrigue, and danger. I loved the author showed from PTS and some ways to help the vets heal. I loved how protective Slater was of kat.No Matter what - together or apart. I have a new favorite novel. I loved Slater and all the men and women that thought of him as family even when he didn’t work with them and they were there to help him anyway they could. Kat was also included in that family. I loved the pace and the plot. I loved the characters and the twists and turns of this book and I highly recommend it.

I can't remember the last time I was this back-and-forth on whether or not I liked a book. I believe there are more positive thoughts though, so I'm going to go with that!

The writing itself was engaging, and the story's concept was great. I'm not usually a fan of second-chance-love stories, but the particular situations these two found themselves in was unique and it was done really well! The story was fast paced with a good amount of suspense, and the surprises/dramatic reveals definitely keep readers on their toes!

I think what I keep getting caught up on is that it felt like I read three different books. The beginning felt rushed and disjointed, almost like I was missing something? I haven't read the other books in the series so I'm not sure if that's why I felt this way, but the first 30% of the book was hard to buy into. Also while I love the nickname "Derry", trying to get into the story while the main character was referred to by 4 different names at random was a little hard. I was really annoyed with multiple characters, and the story felt like it was coming in snippets instead of coherently. It's hard to describe. Then the middle of the book was good! The story hit a groove, we got to meet some secondary characters, and everything filled out more.

I actually really loved the end following about the 80% mark, from the opening of the facility onward. The ending wasn't rushed, emotions were high, and it had a satisfying conclusion with openings for other stories to continue on. However, it felt like the characters changed pretty dramatically from earlier. It also had the issue that most books in a series have in the beginning, which is introducing the reader to a big group of characters from earlier books all at once. This is obviously when having read the previous books would come in handy! But with all of the action going on it was a bit much to also be juggling that many new people and be able to clearly follow what was happening, as well as feel emotionally connected to them.

I will say there are some things I just absolutely loved. I won't ever be over that beginning meet-cute at the 5K, it was perfect! Kat's bit of Irish accent coming through in the dialogue was just the right touch. The Piece Club was fantastic, and the visits always felt perfectly placed throughout the story. And the romance, while not always timed the best, was very hot! I've also never heard anyone other than me say "holy cannoli", so this book will hold a place in my heart forever because of that!

I'm excited to see how the next in the series goes, and I'm tempted to go back and read the other books and get to know these characters more!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided to me through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was given to me in order to review it. I have never read any of Louise Dawn books before this one but she has now gain a new reader.

The story starts out just right. It start with Derek meeting Kate on a 5K run. Neither were were looking for a relationship but in the end that’s exactly what happen until something tragic pulled them a part. After a couple of years they meet again and they both went through so much while they were separated it the love they have for each other was still there. When Derek finds out the truth will he help protect Kat or will he walk away again? Or will he stand by her side and protect her with is life? Will in the end they decide that their love for each other is worth everything they have gone through?

As I said this is the first book of Louise Dawn’s I have read and I really enjoyed it. It starts off fast passed and was well written. The story flowed and has many twists and turns. There is laughter, suspense, tears, anger, tragedy, and so much love, I would recommend this story to my friends. This is the 4 book in the series Mobile Intelligence Team but can be read alone

**I received a copy of Jade in the Snow from Net Galley and Author Collective 20 in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions expressed below are mine and not solicited in any way**

Jade in the Snow by Louise Dawn is the fourth book in her Mobile Intelligence Team series. I haven't read the previous three books so this was easy to read as a stand alone.

Anyway I LOVED this book because it did such a wonderful job explaining PTSD (Slater) and also Kat attack by a serial killer was handled also with TLC. Both have PTSD and are building new lives Kat is motivational speaker and author and Slater in now a Special Agent in Charge at the FBI. They will both have to use both his SF skills and she'll have to dig deep down to fight back when the killer tries to kill the one that got away.

The addition of the senior citizens at the Piece Club (not quilting but puzzles) and how much they love and protect her is very sweet. Plus the men of both the FBI and MIT to help Derek solve the mystery of who the serial killer is.

*I received this book as an arc from Netgalley.com & publisher Author Collective 20 for an honest review.* This is the first book I’ve read by Louise Dawn & I loved it!! Such a well written book that had tragedy, love, action, suspense, laughter, tears, friendships, wonderful characters (incl the secondary characters) & I will be reading the rest of the MIT series starting with the first book. This is a second chance romance between Derek “Slater” Banez & Kathleen “Kat” Flynn. Slater was dealing with his PTSD (that helped in ruining their relationship the first time around) & recovery from an injury and Kat was dealing with a tragedy of her own that he knew nothing about because neither Kat or his cousin Casey never told him. He has Kat’s incident investigated only to find out it was a serial killer that only she survived. Jade in the Snow can be read as a stand alone but I think would be even better by reading the series in order. Either way you will not be disappointed!! Thanks to Netgalley.com & the publisher for approving me!

First read for me by this author, this story deals with a former couple. Derek and Kathleen. Derek is former military and suffers from PTSD. They developed a relationship and due to certain tragedies, they broke apart. When they meet up again, they realize that their love never died. Filled with action, suspense, hot love making, leads to a wonderful HEA for the both of them. This was my first read buy this author and the 4th book in the series, I will be going back to gobble up the first three, as I absolutely loved this book 4.5 stars*****

Louise Dawn's latest Slater thriller effectively mixes pacing, plot and fascinating characters to create a page turner you won't want to put down. She addresses the important PTSD issue with the right balance of sensitivity and visceral reality. It gives us a good insight into the complexities of Slater's motivations and struggles. And when it comes to creating effective descriptions of romantic encounters, few do it better. A great read that will make you want to dip back into her Slater cannon for more. Highly recommended.

This is a good book to really sink you teeth into. A sweet romance with a military hero and a heroin with an issue of her own. Sometimes the woman just needs to be stronger.

Follow their romance when he finds out what she's been hiding and he won't take no for an answer when it comes to her safety. It will keep you emotionally invested as well as highly entertained.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Simply fabulous

I have said this before and I will say it again, each of the books in this series gets better and better. Louise Dawn weaves a such great storylines. I don't believe in spoilers, but I will say Derek Slater Banez and Kathleen Flynn are made for each other. With a few twists and a lot of action this is a story that will keep you turning the pages as fast as you can! I'm impatiently patiently waiting for the next book in this series.

I really loved this book. I'm aware that this is the fifth book and I did not read the previous ones. But this can be read as a standalone and it is definitely gripping and keeps your interest.
I would recommend this book and would explore reading the previous books and the next in the series that addresses Atlas and Elana.

I wasn't sure how this one was going to play out. I get so stressed knowing the situation with these two and wondering how they were ever going to fix their relationship! I loved Slater and Kat's story so much! I loved the twists in the story that kept you guessing. I knew I had it figured out only to find out I didn't! Great story and awesome addition to the MIT series!

Tried to give this series a fair chance, but I feel like my brain is bleeding from all the crutch words. Its been a while since I've read something this terrible, there are Wattpad stories and Fanfics written by 12 year olds with more creativity and chemistry between the characters. The talent is non-existent.

Definitely not my cup of tea.
