CUTTER Complete the mission. It’s what I was trained to do—no matter what. But when things go to shit right in front of me, my objective gets compromised by a set of fathomless amber eyes. This isn’t a woman’s world. Yet, Valentina refuses to see how dangerous the course she’s plotted really is. How dangerous I am.
VALENTINA The man who saved my life is just as lethal as the one trying to take it. Maybe even more. While he may have rescued me, in the end, Cutter is my enemy. The one intent on destroying everything I’ve striven for. But the scars of his past draw me closer even though I know I should move away.
Cutter and Valentina. Anger and desire. Fight and surrender. This wave may drag them both under…
WOW! The Inland Seas series just got a whole lot more exciting! Gwyn McNamee has written a suspenseful, tension-filled romance that had me riveted to the pages. Cutter and Valentina, aka The Kraken and Principessa, are absolutely the most electric and dynamic couple she has ever written. One of my favorites thus far and they will be hard to top. They are a perfect match and I fell in love with their no-holds-barred communication style. They have what it takes to bring the other to their knees, not only with their dramatic glares but also with their quick-draw tongues and sexual heat that radiates off each of them. Both are a force to be reckoned with and it is those feisty, challenging personalities clashing that has me loving them.
Rogue Wave is a shocking nail-biter; surprises at every chapter. Action scenes are plentiful, and they had my heart beating rapidly. You just never know what comes next when it comes to pirates. I sure didn’t see this coming (although, in hindsight, I think I should have). I was just so caught up in all the sexual tension Cutter and Valentina were dishing out that Gwyn knocked me for a loop.
Rogue Wave is not your run-of-the-mill romance; it’s got an edge to it that bites back. If you are looking for Cutter to whisper sweet nothings into Valentina’s ear, think again. The only thing sweet about Cutter is his loyalty to those he loves. He struggles with caring and sweetness but if there is anyone who can milk it out of him, it’s Valentina. Then again, she isn’t looking for sweet either; she is looking for a badass who can hold his own in a gunfight. I think she may have found a candidate.
There are more books to come in this series and Gwyn has set it up perfectly. She leaves us craving more and doesn’t divulge a single thing about who the story will feature except that there is more drama on the seas to come. She has us all waiting with bated breath for Safe Harbor.
Rogue Wave (The Inland Seas Series Book 2) by Gwyn McNamee was a fast pace, action filled edge of your seat read that had me hooked.
The second book in this intriguing read, I was pulled in right away. The book bought out all that I wanted from the MC's in the first book. And I have to say that I loved this book more than the first.
The MC's really stole the show. Well developed with strong layers that just kept being pealed back, they kept me reading and I didn't want it to stop. It isn't very often that I fall for both leads, and I have to say even though I wasn't a big fan of Cutter in the first book, this one showcased him in a different way. So much backstory, so much, just, wow. I want to know more about him. Valentina carried over that fierce powerhouseness from the read, and she just kept proving how awesome she is.
Overall this is worth your time and energy, it has everything you want, strong sexy complex characters, great plot, wicket writing, and you got one hell of a good read. To end this book gets my super high recommendation and my golden stamp of approval.
Rogue Wave (The Inland Seas Series Book 2) by Gwyn McNamee is a great addition to this series. It is a fast paced and action packed tale that will have you restless on the edge of your seat. The characters are complicated and fierce but also have many many layers but once you peel them back you can see into their hearts. I enjoyed book one but this book had me feeling so much more for our two main characters and their stories. I am glad we got to peel back Cutters layers and that what we found was a man who has the same fears, self doubts and hurts and is afraid to go after what he thinks he could never have.
Valentina is not afraid to call you out and tell you how it is. What she does not like however, is to be disrespected and you can bet your bottom dollar the man who infuriates her is also the same man who sets her heart on fire.
Gwyn has written a story that is a great read and has a great plot which is complemented with the strong characters she has given us. I look forward to the next installment.
Rogue Wave was a great 5 star read and book two in The Inland Seas series. All I can say is Wow, what a heck of a read. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was coming next.
I was excited to get Cutter’s story. We got to meet him in the first book. In this book we get Cutter’s history which drew me right in and intrigued me.
Cutter is very edgy and not your typical man and I loved him. Valentina was a strong woman who was looking for her equal, and Cutter fit that mold. These two were so hot together you could feel the chemistry coming off the pages. We get some very steamy scenes from them.
Can these two get a HEA?
Overall I really enjoyed this book. There are several unexpected twists and turns that threw me for a loop. All of the secondary characters were great. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. If you're looking for a great MC read, I highly suggest you 1-click and get started today.
There is a reason that Cutter is nicknamed “The Kraken”. He's a cranky grizzly bear that has just come out of hibernation and makes War (from Squall Line) look like a cuddly panda bear. He's an immense a-hole, but he gets things done. Somehow though, I found myself liking him by the end. Valentina kicks butt in her own way, so they're the perfect match. Of course, that doesn't mean they get along. This is a true enemies-to-lovers slow burn trope that turns into an inferno. This trope has to be done right to be good, and this is more than good, it's awesome. If that's not enough, wait until you get to the twist. I should know by now there's going to be a twist, I've read enough of Gwyn's books to know this. But holy effing moly! Just go read it over yourself, but don't say I didn't warn you. You'll be saying WTF?! Too.
Rogue Wave is the perfect addition to the Inland Seas series! Cutter and Valentina were amazing!
Cutter and Valentina were the kind of couple I just love to read about. They were addicting and steamy. I love a fierce heroine and Valentina is that. Add these two together and they are a force.
Rogue Wave is sexy, suspenseful, dark, and pirate filled. Each page of this book left me needing more. McNamee has nailed the dark , broody alpha males and Cutter is the perfect example.
Rogue Wave is a must read, 5 star read that will leave you needing more of her words.
Cutter is broken and I just wanted to love him harder. Valentina is a spitfire and I loved her personality. Together, they’re a force to be reckoned with. This adventure was fast paced and kept my attention. The twists were only slightly predictable, but still great! I’d definitely recommend this HEA and can’t wait to read more in this series.
The woman knows her man well, " a smile tugs at my lips despite the continued anger he's displaying. With Cutter, anger is the same thing as affection. He doesn't get angry if he doesn't care. That's something I've learned to accept very quickly, no matter how difficult it might be." I liked this book, I loved Cutter.
If you thought that the first book in the series was good, you will LOVE Rogue Wave! There are more emotions and I loved the action and twists and turns, that I am completely digging this series!
Rogue Wave by Gwyn McNamee a five-star read that will leave you out to sea. This is number two in the Inland Sea series and they just get better with each reading, this built on the characters and story, making it a stronger and more developed story. Cutter and Valentina are just so powerful together, they have such a great chemistry it sets the page aflame. But there is a slowness to the burn, its not a quick burn and out, it burns slow and strong just like the best fires. Gwyn McNamee always brings a good story, but this one brought the waves as well.
"Rogue Wave" by Gwyn McNamee delivers a thrilling narrative packed with tension, intrigue, and undeniable chemistry between its protagonists, Cutter and Valentina. Set against a backdrop of danger and deception, the novel plunges readers into a world where every decision carries weight and trust is a rare commodity.
From the outset, the story grips readers with Cutter's unwavering commitment to his mission, his steely resolve tested when he encounters Valentina, whose presence threatens to unravel his carefully constructed plans. McNamee deftly explores Cutter’s internal conflict as he navigates between duty and the unexpected allure of Valentina, symbolized by her "fathomless amber eyes." This dichotomy sets the stage for a compelling exploration of loyalty, identity, and the blurred lines between hero and antagonist.
Valentina emerges as a formidable counterpart to Cutter, embodying resilience and defiance in the face of danger. Her complex relationship with Cutter evolves from initial mistrust to a reluctant understanding shaped by shared adversity and undeniable attraction. McNamee skillfully intertwines their perspectives, allowing readers to delve into their conflicting emotions and motivations, which adds depth to their burgeoning connection.
Central to "Rogue Wave" is the theme of conflicting loyalties and the consequences of choices made under duress. Both Cutter and Valentina grapple with their respective pasts, which haunt their present interactions and decisions. This adds layers of emotional intensity to their interactions, culminating in a narrative that is as much about self-discovery as it is about external conflict.
The novel’s pacing is relentless, mirroring the unpredictability of the sea's rogue waves that threaten to engulf Cutter and Valentina. McNamee's vivid prose paints a vivid picture of the high-stakes world they inhabit, where danger lurks beneath every wave and trust must be earned through sacrifice and redemption.
In conclusion, "Rogue Wave" is a gripping romantic thriller that will appeal to fans of suspenseful narratives with complex characters and intense chemistry. McNamee's adept storytelling and vivid characterization make this a standout read, offering readers a tumultuous journey of love and survival against all odds.
Holy crap, I was expecting this to get even better than the previous book but NOT this good. I was a little irritated with the first book that it ended with such a question in the balance. I didn't realize then that there was going to be an interconnected backstory that was going to be pivotal in each of these character's books. Now that I know that I am fully on board.
Cutter intrigued me in the last book. I wanted to know why he always wore sunglasses and why he seemed so cold and ruthless. I got the answers and then some in this book. My heart hurt for his pain. However, I also wanted to punch him a few times. Until Valentina got ahold of him and put him in his place. I liked that this little Italian fireball saw behind the mask, or sunglasses in this case, and called him on it. Their chemistry was off the charts. The sexual tension was intense until again later in the book but that just made it that much better. Definitely, had a few twists and secrets that I didn't see coming.
This author is gifted at creating a scene and making it come alive. I, especially love it when the title of the book makes sense also.
"He slammed into me like a rogue wave—suddenly, without warning, and with a force so tremendous, it knocked me from my axis and pulled me under, practically drowning me.”
I highly recommend this book. Even though it is centered on Cutter and Valentina the other character's past and future are playing a part in this story. It did end similar to the same way the first book ended but knowing that it will pick up with the story still going on in the next book I can appreciate it now.
ROGUE WAVE is Book 2 in The Inland Sea Series! After reading SQUALL LINE, I could hardly wait to start Book 2: ROGUE WAVE. This is Cutter and Valentina's story. Cutter was the most abrasive of the modern day pirate crew. He was scarred on the outside as well as on the inside. He finds a woman in Valentina that is a perfect match for him. She may be beautiful on the outside, but hides her broken heart and secrets on the inside.
Valentina Bianchi came from Italy to protect II Padrone. She had failed and now he was dead. Her new mission now is to make the man responsible for his death pay. Her one problem is to stay alive because she is a target, too! When her and Cutter cross paths trying to take out the intruder that has taken control of II Patrone's business & fortunes. They partner up & Cutter actually saves her life, but almost looses his own life in the process. She returns the favor by donating her type O blood to save his.
Cutter Jackson is attracted to Valentina, but doesn't really trust her. You know that saying, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” The war between Cutter and Valentina rage hard. Between love and hate. Anger and lust. Fear and desire. In the very end they will have to decide whether they are better together or apart. There are unforeseen twist and turns in this story. It has an end you won't see coming.
Rogue Wave is the 2nd book in the Inland Seas series by Gwyn McNamee. It can be read as a standalone but I’d suggest you also read Squall Line before this book, purely as Squall Line is a fantastic book and will introduce you to Grace and Warwick who also play an important role in this book. I first became a fan of Gwyn McNamee by reading her fabulous Slip Series (highly recommended). Although I’m a fan of this author I was very wary of reading this book as I really didn’t like the main character Cutter in the first book, so I was afraid that I wouldn’t connect with him in this book. He’s an angry, abrupt, arrogant man. For most of this book I still didn’t like him at all. This did not stop me from loving this book. Valentina is a total badass, feisty woman and gives back as good as she gets from Cutter. I loved the dynamic between them, how they both distrusted and disliked each other yet couldn’t help but be wildly attracted to each other. I also found that I was totally gripped to the storyline from the very beginning and was kept gripped throughout. This book is filled with danger and suspense and you can’t put it down as you want to know what’s happening next. I really hope that the author continues this series as I’d love to see more from the other guys in the group.
Rogue Wave is freakin fantastic. Another action packed story with incredible characters. I am in love with this blend of modern day pirate & mafia in a romantic suspense series. Who knew these two could be so expertly woven together. All very unique and fresh.
Cutter is HARD - as in to his core and in every possible way (wink wink). He is big, strong, isn't afraid to get his hands dirty and is pretty cutthroat. The moment his eyes land on Valentina - whew do things get good.
Valentina is strong, beautiful and pretty much bad donkey. Her and Cutter share an immediate distrust yet sizzling chemistry. When things heat up - I am pretty sure I blushed. So good!
The action is nonstop. The build up between Cutter & Valentina was off the charts. The uncertaintity surrounding this whole crew of characters and their future had me consumed from start to finish. The closer I got to the end the more worked up I found myself. I was so invested in how things were going to play out I was on the edge until the epilogue. Gah wrung me out! Awesome feeling.
Rogue Wave (The Inland Seas Series Book 2) By: Gwyn McNamee 5 out of 5 stars
The story Rogue Wave (The Inland Seas Series Book 2) by Gwyn McNamee is a romantic suspense book. It is a story that once I started, I didn’t want to stop reading until the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Cutter and Valentina. Valentina is a strong, intelligent, and independent woman. She finds herself being saved by Cutter. He doesn’t hide his anger or suspicion of her. She is finding herself drawn to him. Cutter is a man that is deadly and dangerous. He is good at planning missions and carrying them out. What he doesn’t expect is how his plans and objectives are compromised by thoughts of her. What does the future hold for Valentina and Cutter? Read this book to find out. This story has moments of suspense that will have you wondering what is going to happen next. I enjoyed reading about the interactions between the other characters that are in the book. Don’t miss out on a story that will have you glued to the pages until the very end. I highly recommend reading it.
Rogue Wave (The Inland Seas Series Book 2) by Gwyn McNamee
5 ++++++ Stars
I just read this book in about 3 hours, I could not put it down once I started. I was so so so angry after Squall Line (angry in a good way LOL) and I could not wait to dive in to this one and I loved it just as much as Squall Line...There was sort of a cliffhanger but not one like the other so Im not swearing after this one.
There was a twist in this one that floored me, I had no idea and I think I kinda like it but I'm not sure, so we will see what the next book brings.
I have fallen in love with all of these people and can't wait for what I hope is all of their stories. This series is a bit different than I'm used to from this author and Im really really loving it and hope she continues it for a while. I love how she is carrying these stories over into the next book, keeping everyone major players throughout.
I loved it as I do anything that this author writes and can not wait for the next in this series.
Rogue Wave (The Inland Series #2) By Gwyn McNamee 5 stars
O-M-G!!! What a phenomenal read! I was completely captivated by this book from the very first page! This author truly does know how to capture my attention and keep it until the very last word. I thought I loved book 1 in the series but Ms McNamee took this story to a completely different level – I think it is definitely in my top 5 reads of 2019, if not my favourite! I probably shouldn’t have liked Cutter, I mean he wasn’t the nicest of characters but I couldn’t help myself, there was just something that drew me to him straight away. Valentina was a great female lead, I kind of expected her to be a little naive but she wasn’t at all – she could definitely stand her ground! I almost wish I had never read this story just so I can go back and start it all over again! Fantastic characters, great storyline and a twist that I absolutely did NOT expect! I absolutely loved this book and I cannot recommend it enough!!!
Rogue Wave by Gwyn McNamee is the second book in the Inland Seas series. If you haven’t read anything by this author before then I cannot stress enough that you need to change that. And this series is the perfect way to do it. Gwyn McNamee can only be described as a pure artist. Everything she writes is perfect. It has the right amount of action and suspense, off set with romance and passion. Her characters are strong and relatable. They draw you into the story so fully that you are engrossed without even trying. That for me is what made this book so amazing. Cutter and Valentina were brilliant. The charisma and the chemistry they had both popped off the pages. The book had the right pace to it as well. The author knew when to push it forward and knew when to draw back to let the story tell itself. This is yet another 5* read from this author and I cannot wait to see what else will be next.
Holy hotness Batman! It gets increasingly difficult to review Gwyn McNamee’s novels. I struggle to find the words to really express what each of her novels do to me as I read them, and Rogue Wave was no exception to the rule. In fact, this book stands out as one of my favorites of McNamee’s to date. A difficult thing to do when her Stone Sober novels are some of my all time favorite reads in the history of ever.
This book takes back to the Inland Seas and the dark, looming, and suspenseful romance that seems to plague the characters in these books. This time we get to follow The Kraken and Principessa, also known as Cutter and Valentina. I absolutely flove these two. The way their romance ignited my kindle screen will be difficult to ever forget. I was gripped by the story they had to share with us and couldn’t get enough of the suspenseful drama that unfolded. I will definitely be the first in line for the next installment. I am sure it will just as fabulous and blow me away!
Book 2 in "The Inland Sea Series", ROGUE WAVE picks up where SQUALL LINE left off. As there is a continuing arc, I recommend reading this series in order.
"So I'm alive?" "All your breathing and talking suggests that." "Am I gonna make it?" "Not because of anything you did, but because of modern medicine and the strongest antibiotic..."
Cutter was a real @$$ and I didn't care for him I the first book. He definitely redeems himself now. He can still be an @$$, but at least I understand why.
The book has a pace to it that moves so quickly at times I was afraid I wouldnt be able to keep up. The writing is so visual, it is like watching a movie and the dialogue is serious, witty, necessary, and reasonable. Throw in a bulldog named Milo and it is just a winning combination.
This is one of those series that I can't wait for the next edition to be written. It is shaping up to be my favorite series.
Warwick et al are still heavily indebted to Il Padrone and are desperate to escape his clutches. When their first plan goes belly up, they are forced to switch gears and trust an unlikely ally.
Cutter - a trained deadly assassin - always trusts his feelings, and his feelings say Valentina is dangerous and way too much trouble. Yet, she proves to be indispensable many times over. But trust is hard for Cutter to give, and he KNOWS Valentina is hiding something from him and his friends. Hopefully, they remain alive long enough to find out.
This installment isn't as sweet as Squall Line, but it is no less thrilling. Valentina & Cutter are fierce, passionate lovers who show only their inner circle their true feelings.
I like the way the author ended the book, perfectly engaging my attention - and ramping up my anticipation - for Safe Harbor. I. Can't. Wait.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.
In Squall Line I couldn't really find much to like about Cutter, but we see the true depth of the man in Rogue Wave and he puts the Mariana trench to shame. He's still a major a-hole but he's a hot, sexy, messed up, courageous, idiot of a man too.
This is a decent length novel but I wanted more time with Valentina and Cutter because they are so fantastic. I absolutely adored both main characters, they are both strong, emotional and caring individuals, Cutter is more willing to cross lines but Valentina is not innocent either. Theirs is a fairly slow burn story but there is so much OTHER passion and action that it never once felt lacking. When they do eventually consummate their relationship the wait is more than made up for.
The story just held my attention, staying with me when I had to put the book down, and quick to get back into when I picked the book up again. The writing is excellent, as usual, the plot twisty, fast paced and exciting and the story is wonderful. I think I loved this book even more than Squall Line and now I'm really excited to read the rest of the series.
This is just as entrancing as the last book! The author easily draws me in and traps me with her words. I can’t let go until I have finished this book!! She makes me care about these characters. After the last book I couldn’t WAIT for Cutters book. I wanted to know more about him and WHAT type of woman could handle him. Let me tell you...it was worth the wait! He is a scary, angry, hard and a bad attitude kind of guy! This is not your normal lovable alpha man.
Hanging out with the crew is great as always. They have a wonderful camaraderie and trust in one another. Having War on Cutter’s case about certain things (involving a woman) made me laugh and chuckle.
Another knockout by this author. The writing is so smooth! Easy transitions from one scene to another making it flow so nicely. Everything is just perfect.i can’t wait for the next. Preacher!
Rouge Wave by Gwyn McNamee is the second book in the Inland Seas Series She has a way of grabbing you from the very beginning of the story and takes you on an amazing journey with her characters. I have yet to be disappointed with anything I have read by Ms. McNamee and I have been fortunate enough to read most of what she has written to date.
Cutter is the guy you see walking down the street towards you and you either find yourself crossing to the other side or doing everything possible to make sure he didn't notice you. He is angry (justifiably so) and his anger is visible.
Valentina is awesome. She's tough and not afraid of Cutter or calling him out on his bull. She is a great person to match up against him and they do go toe to toe a few times.
Great book two to the series and I can't wait for the next one!
Rogue Wave (The Inland Seas Series Book 2) by Gwyn McNamee. This book was amazing and don't start it thinking you will stop after a few chapters. It sucks you in and you are glued to the pages! This is the story of Cutter and Valentina also known as Kraken & Principessa. Cutter is a deadly and dangerous guy who does what he has to do and does it well. Valentina is strong, intelligent and independent so when Cutter saves her it throws her off completely. Cutter is supposed to be her enemy but there is so much chemistry between them. Cutter is even letting thoughts of her mess with his job and that's never happened. Will Valentina let down her guard and let Cutter in? She doesn't want a sweet, cookie cutter man she likes the raw, wild, gunfighter he is. This is not for the faint of heart. It will make your blood boil in more ways than one! Great read!
5 Star Rogue Wave (The Inland Seas Series Book 2) by Gwyn McNamee
Rogue Wave is the second book in The Inland Seas Series by Gwyn McNamee that is fast paced and filled with action. I found myself lost in the pages, on the edge of my seat and couldn’t stop reading till the end. I absolutely loved the characters Cutter and Valentina, they are definitely in the top as my favorites of this author. Cutter is a dangerous man, and is very good at planning and carrying out missions. Valentina is a independent yet strong woman who finds herself being saved by Cutter. He’s suspicious of her and doesn’t hide his anger yet she feels drawn to him. What does their future look like? Find out what happens next in this absolute must read. I highly recommend reading not just this book but the first Book in this series as well. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.
Wow I loved Cutter and Valentina! These two are a force to be reckoned with. Their story has so many twists and turns, action packed and suspenseful. You will be sucked into their story and not able to put this down until you are finished. Their journey will resonate with you well after you are done. I love a book that keeps you guessing and what you think you know, you realize how wrong you really are, and the ending, never saw it coming. Without giving anything away, these two struggle with their feelings, but are on opposite sides here, but will it stop them from finding common ground and coming together? I guess you will have to read for yourselves, you get nothing from me. I received an advanced reader copy of this book.
Amazeballs! I loved Cutter and Valentina so much. Action packed..fast paced, sexy read. It’s more slow burn but so passionate...I really wanted more, it didn’t want this one to end. The writing was exceptional. I have zero complaints about this series. I think I loved it more than Squall Line.😳 This is a must read series, without a doubt. ~BREAKDOWN OF RATINGS~ Plot~ 5/5 Main Characters (hero/heroine)~ 5/5 Secondary Characters~ 5/5 The Feels~ 5/5 Pacing~ 5/5 Addictiveness~5/5 Angst~ 5/5 Steam/Hotness/Chemisty ~ 5/5 Theme or Tone~ 5/5 Flow (Writing Style)~ 5/5 Backdrop (World Building)~ 5/5 Originality~ 5/5 Ending~ 5/5 Book Cover~ Sexy Series~ Inland Seas Series Source~ Kindle eBook - ARC for honest review Would I read more from the author?
