I didn't really care for Barretta's last book "The Book of Transformation" but "Conscious Ink" was superb. It was really an uplifting book.
I suppose what stuck me most was the courage and strength the woman, Anita, who had cancer and mastectomies. There is a picture of her with her tattoos covering her scars. I just hope that I have enough courage to face adversity as she did.
There are several stories detailing what a person's tattoos mean to them and I found them very moving. Barretta also covers topics like symbolism, chakras, magic, and more. All in all, it is an excellent book. I give it 4 stars.
Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from New Page Books. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. Great insight, helped me recognize the unconscious intent in previous tattoos and why a particular tattoo has jumped into my consciousness at this time. I found the content to be slightly repetitive and felt this could have been a tighter book, perhaps a long form article.
