"You only get one soul mate – and I’ve already lost mine.”
Widowed alpha Alton Palmer cares deeply for people – he works hard to bring his daughter up by himself, and when his company is showing some stress from the erratic decisions the CEO is making, he doubles down on keeping his place in the firm – not because he couldn’t be treated better elsewhere, but because there are employees depending on his keeping the company fiscally stable. He’s responsible and mature… and completely unprepared to open his heart again to a second chance at love.
“I’m falling in love with him – and I don’t know if that’s a good idea.”
Eliot Ashton is young and starry eyed, and meeting Alton is like meeting a hero from one of the novels that he reads. But when Alton makes it clear that he’s not yet healed from the memory of his first husband, and that he wants to keep their interactions strictly business, Eliot determines to brush down the hurt and soldier on.
If only he could reason with his heart…
Welcome to Heaven’s Ballroom, the most luxurious club in the city – with the hottest omega dancers. This mpreg book features a single father, an important business dinner, and the joy that comes when you learn to be vulnerable again.
His second chance angel by Aiden Bates. A fantastic read with some great characters. Loved Alton and Elliot there were some characters I really didn't like. I loved how Alton protected Eliot. Looking forward to the next book. 4*.
Would have liked more of the timelines didn't keep changing. Alton and Elliot either met a year ago or five. It kept changing throughout the book. Stuff like that drives me nuts.
Oregon author Aiden Bates began his writing career in journalism (his degree is in both journalism and creative writing) but his fascination/passion for writing romance erotica won him over and we are the grateful recipients of that decision. ‘ With a fun and playful outlook in his writing, he's committed to bring back quality works with a twist only he can bring to the table. In his free time he enjoys reading smut, going to Bartini and writing in the third person.’ By this time readers usually do not need to have terminology of the erotic genre explained, but if some clarification helps any reader new to Aiden’s story a quick explanation of terms is offered: Mpreg = Male Pregnancy and refers to stories featuring a male character capable of conceiving and/or carrying a child within their own body. The impregnator is the Alpha male and the receptor of the impregnation is the Omega male.
This is Book 5 in his Heaven’s Ballroom series, and for those for whom this is the first visit, Heaven’s Ballroom is the most luxurious club in the city – with the hottest omega dancers. Aiden takes this concept and handles it superbly, using some characters we’ve met in earlier books of this series. The story is complex, in a good way, but Aiden manages to outline it as follows: ‘Widowed alpha Alton Palmer cares deeply for people – he works hard to bring his daughter up by himself, and when his company is showing some stress from the erratic decisions the CEO is making, he doubles down on keeping his place in the firm – not because he couldn’t be treated better elsewhere, but because there are employees depending on his keeping the company fiscally stable. He’s responsible and mature… and completely unprepared to open his heart again to a second chance at love. If only he could reason with his heart…’
A bit of the book’s opening makes a fine overture – ‘There was nothing more sinister for a single father than a dinner invitation – except for, maybe, finding a date for it. “Are you sure this won’t be - awkward?” I shot an apologetic glance at Max, who only cracked an amused grin. “I meant to arrange something, but…” “Riley did offer to set you up with one of his friends,” Max reminded me. “He knows a lot of nice young omegas…‘
Aiden continues to create unique books that take a twist on what appears to be a familiar setting and theme and in doing so he keeps his talent polished to a fare-thee-well. Very strong book to continue a new series!
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the fifth book in the Heaven's Ballroom series. In this book, Eliot is an omega dancer at the Ballroom and one of the stars in their new burlesque show. When he see Alton in the audience one night, he remembers the alpha from an encounter when he was working at the Backdoor and was locked out. Alton found Eliot and offered him a drive home. They were very attracted to one another, but Alton was recently widowered and wasn't ready. Alton believed you only get one soul mate and he had lost his. When they reconnect, Eliot was surprised when Alton asked him to be his date at a dinner with his boss and some business associates. Alton was angry at his boss who had been doing illegal deals and changing the books, causing them to be under investigation. Alton's boss knew someone who would stop the investigation,, but he needed Alton to help smooth things over. Alton wants to help the employees of the company, so he agrees to the dinner. Alton is also a single father and when Eliot meets his daughter, Eliot is surprised to see he likes her and could see himself as part of their family, only Eliot wonders if Alton is really ready to move on. I liked this book. I really liked Eliot. I think he really cared for Alton, but also knew he couldn't compete with his late husband. I think Eliot was scared he would never measure up and he would get his heart broken. I really liked Alton, i thought he was a great father and his daughter was adorable. Alton seemed scared to move on and find happiness because he felt he would be betraying his late husband. Another great one in this series.
Alton Palmer is a widowed alpha trying to raise his daughter on his own. He cares deeply for people and when his company is showing signs of unraveling due to its erratic CEO, Alton is determined to keep his position to make sure the rest of the employees are stable. He’s not ready to open his heart because his grief is still too raw.
Eliot Ashton once had it all. His family had money and a company. But when his parents lost their company, he had to navigate a different life. When Eliot meets Alton he’s reluctant to explore things because it’s clear that Alton is still grieving his first husband.
They both can’t seem to stay away from each other but they’re both afraid of getting hurt.
These two characters were great to read. I was a little confused on when they met. There seemed to be an inconsistency. At first it said they met when Alton was first widowed and then there was a mention of a year prior to the present. I’m not clear on it. But either way I enjoyed their story. I love when people are reunited and begin a new. Beautiful story.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Alpha Alton Palmer has been trying to stay away from any emotional attachment with other men and raise his daughter by himself the best that he can. Omega Eliot Ashton is trying to make his own way in the world and is a dancer at the Heaven Ballroom. Alton and Eliot met the first time just after Alton's husband died and Alton was not ready for another relationship. Alton sees Eliot perform at the Heaven Ballroom one night and wants to go on a date with him. Alton remembers Eliot from before and would like to see him more. After spending the night with Alton, Eliot hear Alton calling Patrick name and want to run away. Eliot cannot compete with Alton's dead husband. Eliot runs and does not talk to Alton for a week. At dinner party at Alton's bosses house Eliot is attacked and Alton and Eliot leave after some harsh words were said. Will Alton be able to find another job? Will Alton be able to find all the employees new jobs before the office is closed? Will Alton and Eliot be able to make it work?

The continuity errors in this book were so distracting that I couldn’t separate them from the story.
At the end of the last book, Eliot met Alton. This book takes place either one year after that meeting, or five years after. It varied throughout the book.
In the previous book, Max and Riley’s twins were two years old. Now they are either three or seven, depending on which timeline you believe. Max and Riley are said to still be in love after all these years, but they got together right before the twins were conceived, which may have only been three years prior. Seven at most. And then it is mentioned that one of the twins has braces. Even if they were seven years old, that’s a little early for braces.
I don’t know how old Alton is, but he apparently went to college with Hayward. In a previous book, Hayward’s ID says that he is in his 30’s but Riley says that Hayward is at least 55. Alton is supposed to be older than Eliot, but I got the impression that he was maybe late 30’s/early 40’s. Not mid to late 50’s.
4.5☆ An entertaining story that delves into the effects of tragically losing the love of your life then finally allowing new love to have a chance. Alton has a very caring personality, he is a widowed alpha raising his daughter alone while also trying to save the jobs of the people where he works. Eliot has had no luck finding his soul mate and the only man he cannot forget, is the one who already found his. Alton and Eliot have a pull towards the other but neither man thinks it will go far - oh how wrong they are. They're are some missteps, a lot of sizzling passion, an adorable little girl who will steal your heart, some really nasty people, laughs, an undeniable love, and a sweet HEA. Spoiler: What happened with the company? It was a fair part of the story but we do not know the end results. And it would have been nice to see that teacher get some comeuppance!

Alton is a caring father and a man who also cares about his co-workers; he has also lost his mate. With all of that, he still can be a white knight to a man in need. Eliot is lost and out of his depth, he has become cautious and suspicious. When the two meet it's only a chance encounter of a kind soul reaching out to one lost. The next time they meet things have changed and an attraction leads to dating, but with the understanding that the relationship cannot progress past a certain point. Both men must struggle with their pasts, their preconceived notions, and their growing feelings for each other. The story is engaging, with well-written characters and a well-paced storyline. There is humor, angst, and the fun of a budding relationship. I wish that a few loose ends had been closed and the time of the initial meeting was more specific. I am reviewing this free ARC I received from Booksprout.
This was a good book, I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. However the time line and continuity in the book was ever changing and made me crazy. They either met 1 year ago or more, up to 5. Alton wanted Eliot the night they met, but was grieving over his dead husband who passed 5 years ago. In the epilogue of book 4 Alton worked for Don Sterling at Sterling Financial but this book says he’s worked for Haywood since before his husband Patrick died.
Since there is so much off in this book I can only give it 3 stars, the author clearly was not paying attention to his own story and this much back and forth was frustrating and distracting. I have read a lot of books by this author and never encountered this issue before. I hope it’s a one off, but it’s disappointing as the book would have been better with these issues fixed. You couldn’t get a true grasp on the timeline of their past.
This is a wonderful, entertaining MM/Mpreg romance that captures the reader’s attention & keeps it until the end. It is the fifth book in the series “Heaven’s Ballroom” but it is complete & standalone. The plot is well-written & entertaining with interesting characters that have individual personalities that complement each other. There is: a responsible windowed alpha (Alton Parker) is bringing his daughter (Lizzie) up after the death of his husband (Patrick) in childbirth & reconnects with a young omega (Eliot Aston) after seeing him a year ago, friendship, drama, memories, loneliness, determination, verbal banter, manipulations, attraction, complications, heartache, emotional turmoil, realization, a dinner date, physical confrontations, violence, declarations, love, happiness, steamy scenes & a very intriguing epilogue
I really enjoyed this whole series so far and I really enjoyed this story. It was a bit of a single dad romance and about a single dad still grieving the loss of his husband who happens to stumble into an omega he met a few years ago that he never stopped fully thinking about. Alton and elliot were such a sweet pair and I enjoyed their story. I was happy to see elliot get his happy ending after seeing what he went through with his jerk of an ex. I finished this one pretty quickly. I really enjoyed both charcters too and felt the fit very well together. I cant wait to read Anders story. I've been wait for his story for a while. You dont have to read these in order but I feel like its better if you do because older characters get reintroduced and at the end of every story each new character is introduced in the epilogue. You wont necessarily be lost though.
Alton first met Eliot when he was wondering aimlessly around town after loosing his husband during childbirth. Eliot was standing in the alleyway behind the seedy club the Backdoor trying to get back in to collect his belongings. Alton gave him his jacket and lift home. Things would have progressed quickly but a phone call saved them both from that mistake. Five years later and Eliot is working at Heavens Ballroom and Alton is there with his friends Max and Riley. It took a few minutes but Alton realises where he knows the dancer from and approaches Eliot. As Alton needs a date for a work related dinner Eliot is the obvious choice and Eliot agrees

A closed heart won't let anything out. But it won't let anything in either! Alpha, Alton is a single dad widower business man who uses caring for people as a shield not to put himself 'out there'. His company is struggling and Alton works to save employee jobs. Eliot, Omega dancer puts Alton an a high pedastal. He's searching for his soul mate. Alton, found his, then he died so he feels there will be no other. Alton and Eliot are attracted to each other, but their personal baggage gets in the way. They keep stumbling over and around the baggage its surprising they aren't in crutches! Can they find balance? Can they stop and open their hearts? Can they just accept the wonder and beauty of love? Excellent story! Nicely done. I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.
His Second Chance Angel is a story about Alton (a widower and single parent) and Eliot (an omega whose life changed due to the actions of others). After meeting the first time under strenuous circumstances, they are brought back together by chance. Both initially believe that a soul mate only comes to you once, and Alton had his.
Overall the book is, for me, a little light when trying to explain actions and reactions. It felt as though this story was a stone skipping across the water, many hits and many misses. The ending seemed very abrupt with no closure and the larger issues impacting the couple. Not a bad read, just seemed a little unfinished.

This one played to the more tender emotions what with a deceased lover and a kid in the mix. It also featured more of the dark sides of corporate money. I enjoyed that as a theme, but in the end it got so tangled up in the romance that some of the backstory remained unresolved. Both Eliot and Alton were so determined to save Hayward Financial's employees, but we never got to know how that turned out. Did Hayward finally get arrested? For never actually winning he gets used quite a lot for the bad guy in this series - same goes for Wesley actually. Also I caught quite some mix ups with the timeline I think. For example the first meeting was a year ago, but then he had been dreaming about him for "years" and he looked different than five years ago...got mighty confused there.
Widower Alton goes out to the Ballroom with two friends and recognizes one of the Dancers. Alpha Alton had not got past the grief of his mate dying and two of his friends take him to the Ballroom to help him get out and about again as a single man rather than a father of a small child. As one of the dancers is leaving he recognizes him as the Omega he had helped a years ago when he found him outside the Backdoor Club and had given him a lift home and had been tempted by him but had backed away. He asks Eliot to have a drink with him and they exchange phone numbers. A MM MPreg romance to relax and enjoy.

Alton lost his soulmate and was raising their daughter alone. He thought you could only have one.Five years early Eliott worked a a club called the Backdoor. When he quit, he went out the back door and got locked out. Alton found him there and brought him home and left. Five years later they came across each other again. They slowly fell in love with each other. The two of them plus Alton's daughter formed a family. Also adding in a child of their own and have a HEA ending.

Another great story in this series. Alton is a widower raising his daughter and grieving his love. This story shows the grief, loss and moving on. Elliot is a strong independent omega who has had to learn to make it on his own. He has not found love but is attracted to Alton who has found his. Read their story..

I liked that it wasn’t to much drama between Eliot and Alton, there was more than enough drama around them. Eliot is looking for his soul mate and he hope that Alton is the one. Eliot is still angry at his ex and Ben for cheating on him. Alton is still trying to live again after the love of his life died in childbirth. Alton is slowly realising that you can have more than one soul mate. And now I’m waiting for Anders story, what an end.
His Second Chance Angel is about an omega and alpha that met at a time when their lives were a struggle. But circumstances pulled them apart. Unexpectedly they meet by chance. His Second Chance Angel is the fifth book in the Heaven's Ballroom series by Aiden Bates. This is a fun and sweet story... I liked the characters - they were funny, sweet, sexy... and their story was a lot of fun to read, with just a taste of danger/drama. Good addition to the series, cant wait for next book.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
I loved this latest installment of Heaven's Ballroom. You will laugh and cry with these characters as they find their way to each other. I cannot wait to see where this is going to go with the mystery aspect of the story.

Aiden Bates adds another good read to this series - Heaven's Ballroom. Alton and Eliot reconnect after a party. Their last encounter left them both wishing for more and then they both went their separate ways. This is the story of how they found each other again and fight to have a future together. This one ends a little on a cliffhanger, which I do not like, but it is still a good read.
I find this to be another great addition to the series. Heaven's Ballroom lost another one of its member to love. I love how they all get what they so desire, a family, filled with so much love and happiness. Every story in this series ends with romance and a HEA. I can't wait to read the next book about Anders, I hope it comes out soon.
Alton lost his mate during the birth of their daughter. He feels he'll never love again, Eliot works at Heaven's Ballroom as a dancer. Alton helped Eliot out a few years ago when he needed a ride home. They both felt attracted to each other but Alton walk away. They meet up at the Ballroom and still are attracted to each other. Will Alton act on it or walk away again? I really enjoyed this book.
I feel like it had a lot of potential to be great. Unfortunately I feel like Alton was too stuck in the past to start a relationship with someone he had supposedly regretted letting get away. Like I get it, but I feel like there was no place for Eliot for Alton. And this book was not long enough to forgive that. In my option.
