Jack and Annie journey to Venice in the 1700s to save the beautiful city from a flood; to a Middle Eastern desert where they live with the Bedouin tribe; and to the 1889 World's Fair in Paris where they must locate four magicians to deliver an urgent message.
Mary Pope Osborne is an American author of children's books and audiobook narrator. She is best known as the author of the Magic Tree House series, which as of 2017 sold more than 134 million copies worldwide. Both the series and Osborne have won awards, including for Osborne's charitable efforts at promoting children's literacy. One of four children, Osborne moved around in her childhood before attending the University of North Carolina. Following college, Osborne traveled before moving to New York City. She somewhat spontaneously began to write, and her first book was published in 1982. She went on to write a variety of other children's and young adult books before starting the Magic Tree House series in 1992. Osborne's sister Natalie Pope Boyce has written several compendium books to the Magic Tree House series, sometimes with Osborne's husband Will Osborne.
This was a collection of three books in the Magic Tree House series. This is a fun series that my students love to read. Annie is an interesting character because she has no filter and says what pops into her mind. Jack is more reserved and tries to get her to shut up. The balance between the two is fun to read because it reminds me of my relationship with my brother. In this collection, Jack and Annie go to Venice, Baghdad, and Paris trying to help Merlin save the world. There were lots of interesting escapades but my favorite was "Night of the New Magicians." Mary Pope Osborne managed to get some of the greatest inventors of the early 20th century together and include some of their famous quotes in the story.
"5 star four and a haaaaf." "I like the like wizard theme. - Graham "4 stars.I didn't know there was ice cream in it. That was my favorite part." - Lucy
Am actually really enjoying, I knew what a ship of the Desert was, and it is nice to receive knowledge woven within a story with the intention to hold the listener(s) attention .
Will continue reading this series.
Very enjoyable historical read of Venice, Italy & Paris, France.
Two cities I had the opportunity to visit in my youth after college many years ago.
Our current society was built upon the foundation of the past, it's good to be reminded of .
So far "Night of the New Magicians" has got to be my very favorite adventure thus far! Jack and Annie travel through Venice, Iraq and the Paris World's Fair to learn how to wisely use magic. These stories are fantastic at sparking the imagination and truly make me wish I had my own 'Magic Tree House'. These stories are just wonderful for young readers and imaginative grown ups alike!
