Wesley, the charismatic son of the town Mayor who's being groomed to step into his dad's job, and Sam, the ripped but terrifying second-in-command to the town's Security Chief. But only Wesley's graduating with Ruby, and if he shows up, she's determined to finally seize her chance to kiss her long time crush. When things go sideways, endangering her dear Wesley's life, there's only one person Ruby can ask for help, no matter how scary and enigmatic he Samuel Roth. Can Ruby convince Sam to risk his life to save Wesley's? And can Ruby navigate the post-apocalyptic world in time to save her crush, or will the long forgotten past come back to claim its due?

Kirkus Reviews said of the first book, Marked, "Baker’s prose is sharp and vivid, and she manages to immediately plunge her readers into the world of the novel. The story is swiftly paced and features some surprising twists and intriguing characters. The combination of sci-fi, mystery, and teen romance makes for a compelling adventure.

A promising YA debut about a girl’s search for a future in the wreckage of the past."

A Great Coming-of-Age Story!

Post-apocalyptic has never been my thing, but I’m glad I read this collection. While the story itself is compelling, the descriptive writing is absolutely stunning. I found myself being drawn in right from the start to the exclusion of everything else in my life (including sleep!)

Now, on to the story itself. Ruby has always felt like an outsider, both her parents are dead and she was raised by her aunt and uncle. In a world turned upside down by a deadly virus, Ruby’s story isn’t unique where almost all of the adults have perished. Living in a small, heavily-armed community of people who haven’t contracted the virus has left Ruby feeling isolated and torn about what to do with her future which needs to be decided in the next few days after she turns 17.

I hate reviews which give away the best parts of the story, so I won’t be “one of those!” Needless to say, the victims of the virus have taken a turn for the worst and the status quo has to change. Ruby believes she can make a difference and she begins to take steps toward that end. Luckily, she has a great group of friends, family, and supporters to help her along the way.

Even though this story covers a serious topic, the relationships between the characters keep the story light-hearted with their witty banter, realistic knowledge, and love for one another. Even the villains are portrayed perfectly evil with their strengths and flaws on full display.

If you love a great adventure, then this series is for you. Best of all, this is a clean story which can also be shared with younger audiences. I love Baker’s writing style and I highly recommend this series!

5stars if not more

Was such a good book. I became overly attached to characters. Had to skip to the end... haven't done that ever before. Was mighty ashamed. But I loved the character so much I was tempted to give up reading.
At points i annoyed my husband by laughing out loud. Mostly at Wesley's awesomeness.
Such a great book. My soul is destroyed.

Three books in one.

My review of Marked:
Ruby is a feisty girl just coming into her society's "adulthood" when her life is turned upside down with something as simple as a kiss from a guy she's been crushing on for a while. It sets her on a journey of discovery about her past that poses questions she hasn't considered (including her feelings for her friend Sam), all while being chased by a bunch of Marked (people with a terrible disease that will kill them quickly).

This dystopian tale has an interesting assortment of characters, a sweet romance (I mean Sam!), and some fun twists at the end.

Review of Suppressed:
Another compelling read in this series. What an emotional rollercoaster! Lots going on between the background of dying kids and Ruby having the ability to save some of them. Maybe. Always with the time clicking down. Some great twists again.

Review of Redeemed:
An action-packed conclusion to a compelling series. Full of twist and turns and some seriously messed up family connections, the bittersweet tale manages to be positive with a strong stress on "family" that goes beyond blood ties.

I really enjoyed this whole trilogy. Every series by Bridget E Baker is different, yet they are all so great.
Reading this during covid times is a bit crazy and surreal but maybe that made it even more relatable. 90% of the world’s population is dead, there are young people out there who are marked (for death) and pockets of people just trying to eek out a living while protecting their own. But not everyone out there has others best interest in mind. Ruby finds herself immune but why? This is her journey of discovery. Discovery or why, who she is on the inside, where she came from and what she’s made of. Ruby is determined to help right the wrongs of her father(s) and save the children

This series is very enjoyable. I got hooked from the first chapter. Its a bit of a twist/ vibes of walking dead with The 100, not usually my typical read but main story line with the romance sprinkled in was great. Its well written, there is clear character development and different take on a "post apocalyptic world".

I read all 5 books but the first 3 is enough for a complete story line. The 4th is a bonus one on the story with a different focus albeit still enjoyable. And 5th is a summary for side characters which im not sure ties in exactly with the main story except for the first 2 chapters.

Very good series. I found all the books entertaining and easy to read. When one ended, I definitely wanted to read next to see what was going to happen. You get to watch a girl grow up while finding out how strong she really is. At the same time, terrible things is are going on that Ruby and her friends want to stop. Can they cure a disease that has killed millions? Guess you'll have to read the series to find out.

After reading this series, I am writing this review to share my honest opinions on the series. I will not provide any spoilers for any of the books, and will discuss the series as a whole, not the individual books in it.
What a thrilling and suspenseful series, one that sucks you in right at the start and keep you hooked until the very very end. Eerily reminiscent of the current situation, this series is gripping and entertaining and written well with great characters.

Awesome collection of books! This series kept getting better and better. Just when I thought everything was getting better, a new twist entered the plot. Very unpredictable and suspenseful. I read this whole series in a matter of days. I am not usually a reader of this genre, but I still loved these stories! I highly recommend!

I couldn’t put it down

I have so much to do, but I couldn’t stop reading this. Wonderful characters, fast paced and action packed. New twists and turns every chapter. I only guessed one part before the characters. I only miss the resolution of the faith journey. I’m glad there’s a new book out, maybe I’ll get what I want there.

A very satisfying conclusion to Sins of Our Ancestors. I am happy with how Ruby grew up and took control of her life. That's not easy to do. Clean books with some swear words. Enjoyed all the books in this series, although Redeemed is my favorite.

The first 3 books in this series unfold the gripping story of Ruby, a young girl who finds out that her past holds a lot of secrets-- and she may be the only person who can stop the virus ravaging the world. You won't be able to put it down.

A three book series

A good group of characters and an interesting story line. Book one stared out slow , to me. Then it picked up with book three finishing up with a fine finish.

Book Series
You won’t be able to put them down.

I loved this series it was torcher waiting on the next one to come out that is why owning the series is such a great idea because you won't have to wait until the next book comes out. The downside you will miss out on your sleep until you complete each book.

I highly recommend this series of you like the Hunger Games and/or The 100. These books books cover a gambit of emotion. Intrigue, Mystery, Relatonships, Friendships, Love, Hate and of course Romance all while trying to survive in the elements of an aptoclytic world they live in now.

My teenage daughter and several of her friends make and female have read these books and they have loved them too.
