You gotta be fucking joking me. This is the kind of crap that gets published as kid's non-fiction? No wonder kids today don't know anything.
This book is full of factual errors. Here are the worst:
* The authors didn'k know anything about Quarter Horse history. Experts state that many breeds went into the creation of the Quarter Horse, but the foundation stallion is generally considered to be a short chestnut Thoroughbred named Janus (aka Little Janus, Janus II and Young Janus.)
* Chickasaw Ponies is not a breed, as mentioned in this book, although Chickasaw Horses was another name for Florida Crackers.
* Trigger, Roy Roger's horse, was sired by a Thoroughbred and out of a palomino mare of unknown breeding. Although he may have looked half Saddlebred and half Quarter Horse as this book says, he wasn't.
* Quarter Horses come in LOTS more colors than just four. I don't think kid's heads would explode if they knew the truth.
* The legend of Nita is just that -- a legend. It is unknown what horse raced a train in 1830.
Skip this book, no matter your age.
