That’s what I thought we were … until we weren’t, until my love for Mia was too consuming that I couldn’t ignore it anymore. Until I couldn’t deny it.
And when we’d lost someone close to us both—her brother, my best friend—it was that life-changing moment that I told myself to man up.
It was that loss that drew us closer, that made me realize I’d been a fool to stay back.
But we’d always been just friends. Two words that meant a hell of a lot more than I wanted them to.
Two words that were this wall between us.
Two words that I wanted going when I looked at her.
There was a time when I would have been fine with that title. But that time had passed. I was done being just friends. I was ready to finally make Mia mine. I just hoped she felt the same way.
Another real man from "Real Man" series falls in love with his best friend's little sister.
I have read 19 Real Men from this series so far and this is another cute story. Are the stories repetitive? Yes. Are they short and to the point? Yes. Are they sweet and with not much drama? Yes. Do they relax you and make you sleepy before bed? Yes.
Genre: Contemporary Romance Type: Standalone Book 19 of A Real Man series POV: First Person - Dual Rating:
Pope Donovan grew up watching his best friend’s sister Mia, blossomed from a little girl to someone who caught every men’s attention. After a shared tragedy, they became closer than ever. But being just friends started to become harder when he wanted so much more.
“I want to taste your cream on my tongue as you get off. I want to hold your breasts in my hands, feel how hard your nipples get as I eat your pussy out.”
This one was short and straight to the point. I like that it was sexy, but I wanted more conflict because there’s practically none of it. I know it’s just a short novella but it would have added some intrigue to the story.
Well I am a goner for anything written By Jenika Snow she is definitely one of my go to authors and this series seriously swoon…….
This was a quick story that had all the feels. Two friends wanting more but not sure how the other feels.
Pope has wanted to be with Mia forever and friends for just as long but after the death of his best friend and her older brother he became her most dedicated protector and there is nothing that he wont do for her. But the time is coming where he can no longer hide the feelings and love he has for her. Will she want him or will his proclamation push her away?
Mia cannot just carry on with all the feelings that she has for Pope she needs to tell him how much she loves him. She knows that when she tells him the truth that she could lose him forever but this is worth the risk. Mia wants her happy ending and Pope is the only one who can give that to her.
These two were way too cute, completely safe friends to lovers story that will leave you with a smile.
This is my first book of the Real Man series and I loved it. This was the story of Mia and Pope. Pope felt like he needed to become her protector after her brother died. They tried to fight their feelings for each other because of Jonathan. Sometimes you have to do what your heart wants and their hearts wanted each other. This was a quick, sweet and steamy read and I loved it.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book was just ok for me. It just felt like something was missing, maybe I needed a little more about them from the past? I wondered if they were always close or did they reconnect when Mia started college? Pope is definitely an alpha male. He lets Mia breathe a little but he is always lurking in the shadows watching making sure she is safe and literally to keep other guys away. They both have feelings for each other but are hiding the truth from one another. Safety and Spoilers Completely safe. No op drama. H’s sexual past wasn’t mentioned but he didn’t come across as a virgin which bugged me a bit because he had feelings for Mia for so long, h is a virgin. No abuse!
For the most part, I’ve enjoyed the books in Jenika Snows “A Real Man” series. Quick, sickly sweet novellas with possessive heroes and innocent heroines; JUST FRIENDS was a “best friends little sister” story about Pope and Mia. It followed the same sort of formula as the previous 18 books, and while I found it to be an okay read, it definitely wasn’t one of my favourites.
I loved this friends to lovers story! This is a great addition tomThe Real Man Series. I liked the build up of watching Pope and Mia find their way to each other. Pope was so great with her!
I enjoy reading jenika books this one was very fluff and pretty short, also i love the real men series!!
We also got a small nudge to her other book the professor (older male younger female) i didn't really feel this as taboo even if Mia was Pope's best friend little sister. Pope was a good alpha he watched over his girl but still let her have breathing room to be normal with her friends, let her have a life even when felt something towards her and never chased any other person. Then they finally tell one another their desire for eachother and BOOM!! slow steamyish sexy times.
I do wish there was more details when they were growing up.. how they were when mia brother died.. i just wanted more from this book.. it was a fun easy read..
No ow/om drama, no cheating, slight secondary charas, sexy time, virgin gal
Recommend- maybe Cover-⭐⭐⭐⭐ Instalove/lust Friends to lovers Safe Hea Epilogue

Short. Sweet. Perfect. Despite it being so short, I really felt for the main character and fell in love with their story. A great book to break me out of my slump. The smut is present, so no complaints there.
After a couple of years wanting each other, without each other knowing it, Pope and Mia finally admit to each other how they feel. From then on we get a hot and quick read. Fast paced and easy to read, I loved the story of them finally coming together and then we get the epilogue which ties it all together for me! Great story!
I fell in love with Mia and Pope. Their story was so sweet. I love the brothers best friend books and this one was no different . A wonderful add to the (A Real Man) series
I've read all most all in this series but this wasn't it for me. The 'H' waited till the 'h' told him (in tears might I add) how she felt about him first. Then, he manned-up and said what he had to say. By that part all that was left of the book was sex. Real man.....no. However, I believe the premise fell short for me because they were to young in the first place. For me a man has to have some LIFE experience to be alpha/real man enough for me.
Ok this was just okay, for some reason I felt it weak and Omg it took forever for Pope to penetrate Mia. It was to much thinking and what they where feeling it kill the mood for me. It felt like the author just needed to add words to fill pages. I'm surprised because most of the time I love her stories. Also, the name Pope, what is that about. I'm sorry but it didn't make sense and it was another turn off. If anything I prefer a common name instead of trying to be unique. The plot was good but the flow of the story didn't go well for me.
This is jenika snow at her best! Writing a story full of emotion, a possessive and obsessed alpha hero head over heels in love with his virginal woman.
Pope and Mia have been part of each other’s lives since they were kids. Pope was best friends with Mia’s brother Jonathan and when her brother died 5 years ago, Pope became her unofficial protector.
Both of them have been in love with the other for a while, but neither wanted to say anything out of fear of ruining their friendship or if one would think it’s disrespectful to Jonathan
Until eventually they can’t keep it to themselves and their love bursts forth.
Things I LOVED about this book: Writing was clean, smooth and packed with description.
The hero was a fiercer protector and possessive and obsessed with his girl
The heroine was a good girl, a virgin who hadn’t given her body to losers and let another man claim her. Mad respect for her. 👊🏼🤛🏼
No condom use.
HEA with babies
One tiny complaint: the only sex scene between them, the hero pulls out. It would have been more of an emotional “ooomph” if at least one scene had him deep inside her, their two connected, United when he comes. But it’s just a small nitpicking complaint. Overall the book wins on the big stuff: alpha hero, virgin heroine, HEA
Pope secretly harboured his love for his best friend’s sister ever since she was a toddler. Mia had always idolised her brother’s best friend. When her brother died, Pope became Mia’s protector, promising to look after her for as long as she needed him. As he watched Mia grow to become a young lady, Pope realised that friendship was not enough, and he he was done waiting t make her his.
I am amazed how Jenika Snow never fails to pack all the emotions for such a short read. Just Friends, the 19th instalment to her Real Men series, deserves another five stars for the way she made her characters real, their stories relatable. She is, without a doubt, an author that I will keep going back to, her books a definite one-click for me every time!
The blurb for this book made it seem like there was a real forbidden love story to be told here. I thought maybe it would start with Pope and Mia having a "thing" in high school or something...or at least her big brother Jonathan telling Pope not to ever touch his sister. Something to give it some angst. Maybe there could've been something to give it some drama after they got together... But there was nothing of substance to this story.
This was just 2 people who held back feelings for each other and eventually gave into them. Meh. This entire story probably could've been a chapter or 2 in a longer, better read.
Pope, Mia and her older brother gre up together as close friends. Until Mia's brother dies in a accident and Pope and Mia lean on each other, and suddenly their feelings changed. Fearing of destroying their friendship they choose to keep quiet. Fast forward 5 years, they are both in college with Pope keeping a eye on everything she does to "keep her safe". When Mia finally confesses her love for to him they finally unite in a unforgettable night of passion. Highly recommended
Pope and Mia have known each other for forever. Pope is Mia's brothers best friend. And after Jonathon passed away it's been Pope looking out for Mia. They both secretly have wanted the other and it's finally time for them to let each other know how they feel. Will it ruin what they have or strengthen their relationship!
Loved Pope and Mia and their chemistry together. ❤
Pope loved Mia from the time they were young, she was his best friends little sister. When they lost her brother and his best friend he takes it upon his self to watch out for her to keep her safe and in the process he grows to really love her only he doesn’t know she loves him too, Love has a way of bringing people together that are just meant to be, this book has a good story line and sweet character chemistry, a nice sensual read!
Mia is the little sister of Pope's best friend Jonathan who past away a 5 years ago, and he promised to always look out for her. But his feeling have grown since then, he now see's Mia as his and he will always be there for her. Mia was done trying to hide her feelings for pPope, she see's him as hers and it is time she told him and does something about it. This was a good read... best friends who loved eachother, finally taking that step and admitting their feelings.
This was a great story. Mia and Pope have been close ever since her brothers accident years ago. Pope was his best friend and protected Mia like her brother would have, may e even a little bit more. Loved these two together. Pope is so protective and alpha over Mia. It's the perfect story.
