Team 52 #5

Mission: Her Safety

Rate this book

A sexy, grumpy black ops scientist will do anything to track down the mysterious woman who broke into his lab.

After Dr. Ty Sampson catches a mysterious female intruder in his home and lab, he’s obsessed with finding out who she is and what she wants. He’s a man who trusts very few people and hates anyone in his space. His role as Team 52’s lead scientist brings him into contact with a host of powerful, ancient artifacts, so he knows the woman must be after something dangerous and he refuses to let her succeed.

River Elliott-Hall is good at finding things and prides herself on always getting the job done. When a very valuable painting by a master is stolen from a famous museum, it is her job to get it back. The trail leads her to the bright lights of Las Vegas and she’s heard rumors of the covert, black ops Team 52. But as she investigates if they know anything about the painting, she finds herself drawn into a battle of wits with a big, bad-tempered, and far-too-handsome genius.

Life has taught River and Ty to guard their hearts, so as these two circle each other, they warily agree to work together. Because it soon becomes clear that the painting is more than just a painting, and someone with a dangerous plan is working behind the scenes. Fighting their intense chemistry, Ty and River—along with Team 52—will risk everything to save the day, and both find themselves battling the unfamiliar needs to claim, protect, and keep each other safe.

This author certainly knows how to keep her readers entertained and when she kicked off her fast paced Team 52 series I knew it could only get better. The ever imaginative Ms Hackett yet again provides a thrilling, edgy and sexy romp that this time pits grumpy science geek against a British spy.
Ty doesn't do romance and if honest he really doesn't do people either but River isn't like any woman he's met before and their challenging relationship is just what he needs to bring out his humanity as he is kind of closed off. Two people both shattered in some way by their childhood finding strength together which really is a gift in itself. This exciting story was fun to read and had plenty of heat and danger to keep it interesting.
This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

1.5🌶️

I liked it well enough—the main couple was quite well suited for each other and had good chemistry—but the plot veered on a spectrum from boring to complicated. It’s a decent and average entry to the series, and provides enough overarching story to push the series forward.

The cat-and-mouse dynamic between the main couple worked in its favor here, building on the tension between the two, both sexually and mentally.

Sorry for the lack of detail on this review, I didn’t write it while the story was fresh in my mind😭 but ultimately these were the thoughts that stuck with me.

Looking forward to getting around to the next one!

This was the read I needed to cheer up my mood after I was left very upset by my previous read.
And Mrs Anna Hackett did not failed me.
I was curious about Mr Grunt, Ty, from the beginning. And he is even more than I bargained. He is more everything, smart, sexy and with the right touch of sensitivity. Like every Mrs Hackett’s heroes, he is a hard nut to crack but when they fall, they fall hard.
The heroine is his perfect other half, together they will be whole, she is strong and smart. She is more than the brawn for his brains and vise versa.
It was like I love it, packed with actions, some steamy scenes and moments they enlighten their strength and complementarity.
Now the wait begins for Brooks’ story, I have a fondness for this geek and his Star Wars T-shirts.

Mission: Her Safety (Team 52 #5) has action, suspense, mystery, danger and romance and is just as good the second time reading as the first.

Anna writes sexy and heroic well.

Sexy, alpha men and women who protect and find their someone. When someone evil wants to take over the world and ancient artifacts are involved so is Team 52.

A great read.

I did enjoy this one with the slippery ex-MI6 cat burglary and the grumpy genius Team 52 scientist. That last scene in the garage is just so James Bond!

I love all of Anna Hackett's series. I have a hard time picking between her different series when choosing my "favorite" . Team 52 is up there with the Hell Squad Series. In this installment, Mission Her Safety (Bk 5), from Team 52 is fantastic. It's getting a glimpse into the lives of your favorite characters-like in a soap opera. Some drama, some humor, a few corney moments and several steamy moments. We find out that Dr. Ty Sampson isn't so tough that River (the heroine) can't ...hmmm... tame him:) It's nice to get a heroine that can outwit her male counterpart once in a while. If you are a fan of non-angsty, pure simple adventure, sexy characters with chemistry, and just an overall satisfying read, Mission Her Safety, is your perfect read. Although it's not 100% necessary, I would recommend starting the series with Book 1 to get the full enjoyment of the Team 52 family. I received an ARC and am providing my honest review.

Wow !!!! Another great entry in this series. My book A.D.D and life had me not reading for a while. Ty and River had chemistry from jump and I thoroughly enjoyed their banter.

I also loved that both characters didn't like people but couldn't help but to like each other. Perfect mix of intellect, action, snark and sexiness.

The heat level was 💥💥💥💥💥💥. The buttoned up doc was nasty and I liked it.

Definitely recommend this series.

Тай Сампсън и Ривър Елиът-Хол

description

Series: Team 52 #5
Rating: 4 stars - It was really good

After Ty Sampson catches a mysterious woman breaking into his home and lab, he becomes obsessed with finding who she is and what she wants. River Elliot-Hall, former M-16 agent, is now an independent contractor for retrievals of items. When the search for a stolen painting leads her to Las Vegas, and to Team 52. During her investigations for the painting she finds herself battling her desire with the sexy genius of Team 52.

River is another kickass heroine that you just can’t help but love. She stood up to the team and even won a few rounds against them. I really love a beautiful, smart, tough heroine who can take care of herself. Ty and River both have learned to keep people at a distance. Seeing them break down those walls together was just perfect. I also loved that we finally see the grumpy genius out in the field!

Overall, this was another wonderful addition to the series and it is just what I need right now. Next up is Brook’s story and I cannot wait to see him finally fall in love.

CW; knife and gun violence and injuries; on page bombing; torture; death of a friend mentioned; neglectful and emotionless parents mentioned; death of a parent from cancer mentioned;

Great! Ty is a little bit of a different hero since he is part badass, part nerdy scientist. River had great strength, and I loved them together. The plot was interesting, especially since I always love a good art heist. As with the rest of the series, some aspects of the plot do require you to suspense belief, but I like that little bit of sci-fi.

I find the title of this entry in the Team 52 series particularly ironic, as River Elliott-Hall doesn’t really need anyone to make her safety their mission – and she’d be downright insulted at the thought.

Which makes her a perfect heroine for this – or any other – of Anna Hackett’s action adventure romance series, whether they are even slightly science fictional – or not. The Team 52 series is mostly one of the “or nots”, so if you like a romance where there’s plenty of action and adventure both between and outside of the sheets, Team 52 or the Treasure Hunter Security series that it spun off of, might be just the ticket.

Team 52 is based just next door to Area 51. And yes, that slight joke is intentional. Because Team 52 deals with just the sort of artifacts that Area 51 is supposed to be housing. Consider it hiding in plain sight. Or plausible deniability.

Just like some of the more “out of this world” artifacts that used to get found on Earth in the Stargate series, Team 52’s job is to protect most of us from unscrupulous people taking advantage of some really cool, and very powerful gizmos that have been hidden and/or buried on this planet for more millennia than we think this planet has actually had intelligent life.

This particular adventure starts out relatively down to earth – the earth as we know it. Until the mystery gets a whole lot bigger.

River Elliott-Hall is former MI6. She currently freelances as, let’s call it, a retrieval artist. She gets hired when something really big and important gets stolen – and the original owners are willing to pay some serious money to get it back.

She’s after a painting by Leonardo da Vinci titled Salvator Mundi, stolen from the Abu Dhabi Louvre. As an original by the Renaissance genius, it’s worth not a small but actually quite a large fortune.

As a map to the location of the elixir that gave da Vinci his genius, it is beyond price. And also well within the purview of Team 52.

When River rifles her way through the homes of all of the members of Team 52, she puts herself and her job squarely in their sights. The museum can have the picture, as long as Team 52 gets to put the elixir out of the reach of anyone who might want to use and/or abuse it.

Banding together to accomplish both of their aims puts River Elliott-Hall squarely in the arms of Team 52’s resident real genius, Ty Sampson. And in spite of neither of them believing in either love or trust, they can’t manage to stay away from each other.

Not even under orders to “play it safe”.

Escape Rating B: I’m still finding the titles of this series to be more than a bit on the cheesy side for some reason. And I’m also starting to get a bit tired of the headless bod covers. Not that the bods aren’t bodacious and all that, but heads, please – as long as it’s not all the same head because that would be weird.

Irreverence aside, Mission: Her Safety was a fairly typical entry in the Team 52 series. By that I mean that the non-romantic action is non-stop, the romantic action is just a bit quick on the trigger, and that the macguffin they are chasing after is suitably dangerous and dangerously well-protected.

And that both the hero and the heroine have plenty of personal demons to exorcise before they can reach their own personal happy ever after – after the artifact and their enemies are suitably contained – one way or another.

(Pine boxes being a fine method of containment under the correct circumstances – the kind of circumstances that often occur during Team 52’s adventures.)

I liked Ty and River, and thought that in the end they made a great team, both professionally and romantically. It also worked really well that they had, let’s say not dissimilar family baggage to deal with – and that they initially weren’t dealing with it terribly well but in the same way.

One of the things that I liked very much was that the former partner and mentor that River was somewhat avenging was just that, a working partner and mentor without having ever been a romantic interest or a member of her birth family. Love takes many forms, and the need to find justice for a fallen loved one is not confined to those for whom we feel romantic love or to those who are part of our birth families.

In the end, I enjoyed Ty and River’s story, but it wasn’t a special entry in the series for me. My favorites are still Mission: Her Protection (book 1 in the series and highly recommended) and Mission: Her Defense (book 4).

4.5 Stars for MISSION: HER SAFETY, book#5 in Anna Hackett’s TEAM 52 Action/Adventure Contemporary Romance series. My rating guide: 1= dnf/What was that?; 2= Nope, not for me; 3= I MOSTLY Enjoyed it; 4= Yes, I LIKED IT A LOT; 5= I Loved it, it was great!

HER SAFETY is book #5 in Hackett’s TEAM 52, 8 book series featuring a Covert Black Ops Team based near Area 51, NV. Recruited from the best of US military operations, the select members comprising TEAM 52 have accepted the highly classified duty and danger involved while collecting and storing artifacts with para/unusual abilities recently discovered worldwide, originating from unknown ancient civilizations.

TEAM 52 is an Action-Adventure Romance series (with a few “Unworldly” elements) that follows a Black Ops team as they travel and respond to related global emergencies and situations, safely disposing dangerous antiquities. HER SAFETY, #5 is an Enemies to Lovers, Proximity/Danger story that begins with Consultant River ElliottHall and Scientist Dr Ty Sampson.

Dr. Ty Sampson/MMC is TEAM 52’s, brilliant and unsocial lead scientist. As a important member of the team, Ty designs and fine-tunes the advanced prosthetics each of the injured former military TEAM 52 members use. It is also his job to study and determine the purposes and potential dangers of the ancient artifacts his team collects following each mission. On occasion, Ty accompanies the team in the field. When the Las Vegas office space and the homes belonging to the TEAM are breached by an unknown intruder, Ty is determined to discover the culprit and uncover their motive. Formerly trained M16 agent River Elliott-Hall is now a successful independent Acquisition Specialist hired by both museums and private parties to regain lost or stolen valuables. Her path crosses TEAM 52, and Dr Ty in particular, when she follows the trail of a stolen famous painting leading to Las Vegas, NV and begins to investigate.

HER SAFETY can be read as a standalone title but since each book in the series features a different TEAM 52 member, the main characters from previous and latter books do overlap. HER SAFETY was a quick reading, with a lot of fast moving action and adventure. The women are smart, independent, and capable; the men are honorable, loyal, highly trained former military or law enforcement alpha-male characters that appreciate such women. I appreciate the occasional Quirky humor and writing that prevents Hackett’s novels from becoming too drama laden or angst-filled. Books #1 & #2 in this series were my favorites so far, but HER SAFETY was a close third. I simply thought the 1st intimacy scenes occurred too quickly and at an unlikely time and place (immediately following a life/death fight. Hmmm). I do look forward to reading the next books in the series where the remaining TEAM members will each feature.

Anna Hackett has written a number of Action-Adventure-Romance series both in Space Opera & Dystopian genres as well. TEAM 52 is the 5th Anna Hackett Action-Adventure series I’ve read so far; they are all among my favorite series in any genre. If you enjoy HER SAFETY be sure to check out other works by Anna Hackett.

*READER CAUTION - Readers who prefer only Clean fiction will want to look elsewhere. Not recommended for YAs.
VIOLENCE - Yes. Covert Spec Ops action. PG/PG-13.
PROFANITY - Yes. Strong language is used frequently.
SEXUAL SITUATIONS - Yes. The 2 main characters are attracted to each other and develops quickly into Steamy and Quite Detailed intimacy scenes, ending with joint commitment and a HEA.

What I Liked: This is another fun, fast-paced instalment to this series. I really liked the main character, River: she was good fun and I liked her attitude. It was nice to see more of Ty’s personality, and a different side to him other than just being grumpy. I thought the two of them had good chemistry, particularly early on, and they had some entertaining banter. Also, I really did like that they were equal to each other in a lot of ways - she was as clever as him, as capable, and I liked that
I liked some of the concepts of the suspense plotline - the map was a cool idea and the end sequence at the mansion was exciting and fun. For the most part I thought the pacing of this book was good and better than some of the others in the series.
What I Didn’t: I found some of the suspense plotline quite messy; I thought Alton’s motivations were a bit vague and weren’t fully fleshed out.
I also thought River Also, whilst I enjoyed her relationship with Ty, I did think it suffered from
Overall: Like the other books in the series, it’s fun and fast-paced, I just think some plot elements could have been tightened up a little bit. I’d also have liked it to be longer - it’s the shortest book in the series so far I think and I think that their relationship would have benefitted from more time to flesh it out.
Would I Recommend It?: Yes, if you want a fun, fast-paced romantic suspense story with elements of enemies-to-lovers and a well-matched pairing.
Would I Read Something By The Author Again?: Yes.

Not my favourite by far

I thought this one could have been put together better. So I want to spend some time on all the things that bugged me.

*spoiler alert*

Firstly, I get that after a while its hard to think up more badass people to add to the series, but one woman who is so amazing she can break into all the elite soldiers’ homes without them realising it. It was too far fetched. Add to that that she could basically beat the whole team in one scene and get into the computer system in another, I had to wonder why she needed a team, she was so much better than all team 52. That’s just my opinion because I did not like the female MC. Not that male MC was my favourite either.

Plot points that bothered me in this one despite my suspension of disbelief were: the fact that they don’t sweep any packages that comes into the bunker for bugs. What? That’s really unprofessional from what’s supposed to be a pretty elite team. Secondly, going in as cleaning staff? I would think that Anyone who values their privacy as much as the bad guy supposedly did would vet even cleaning staff meticulously. Thirdly, Axel again, really? Why is he always the character that gets screwed over by the female main characters’ antics, it happened twice in this book and once in the Smith’s book. I was not amused.

Maybe I’m taking these books a little seriously, but I really am having fun with the premise and the books are mostly really enjoyable to read. The only reason I gave this book 2 stars instead of one was because I do still like the series and do intend to finish it.

River Elliot-Hall is a former MI6 operative from London and the illegitimate daughter of an earl.
Dr. Ty (Tyler) Sampson is a Team 52 genius scientist, often a crotchety guy, and the son of a billionaire who has no idea of the important job his son does for Team 52 and for the world. River has been tasked with finding a stolen painting titled Salvator Mundi, originally painted by da Vinci, but covered with other paint over the years, so it was unknown. Her search has lead her to Las Vegas, and she is following leads to find the painting. The painting has a map and an orb associated with it, and some bad people want that orb.

This story has a strong amount of tension throughout. The reader encounters a bomb, some hidden rooms, a hidden map, an orb, some surprise attacks, some serious B&E, some cool gadgets, a smart glass panel, numerous rare and expensive vehicles, bad guys with guns and other weapons, and all of the other things you expect to find in an Anna Hackett Team 52 book. The characters are fun to read, but it’s so much more than that. These are flawed characters with idiosyncrasies and issues. Yet, they function well as a team and their playful yet sometimes serious banter is delightful to read.

There are so many wonderful things about this book and about this series. It would be best to read them in order, to appreciate the skills and idiosyncrasies of each character, yet each story stands alone.

THRILLING - ENTERTAINING - SIZZLING ROMANCE

DISCLOSURE - On a volunteer basis I reviewed a free pre-release copy of this book.

MISSION: HER SAFETY is a whirlwind of thrilling action and electrifying romance that I couldn't put down until the end. Inside; gripping suspense, spine-chilling danger, picturesque/vivid scene descriptions, flirtatious innuendos, humor, and a fabulous conclusion.

Team 52's surly scientist Ty has an IQ above genius level. He loathes people in his home/lab and his inventions are quite unique. Ty is easy on the eyes, built, full of surprises and wouldn't mind staying single forever. River an independent freelance finder of people and objects of value never fails at her job. She's a beauty trained in military fighting and keeps her heart safe. A new mission has her visiting Las Vegas to find a stolen painting. Exploding chemistry blooms during their first face-to-face meet. Before reaching their happy ending they face a few horrific dangers and decisions.

EXHILARATING fast-paced well-written read. Love Team 52 - credible engaging characters. Ty and River are a perfect match; loved them together. I found this to be a most entertaining read.

So many inaccuracies! Where do I start!

Ok I give up on this series. Probably only for the time being but it’s seriously annoyed me now!
We DON’T TALK like that in England!!! We don’t have names like River! (Probably do now though.)

So many inaccuracies!!! River is an ex MI6 agent (yes of course she is.). Who now works as a thief, returning stolen property for a lot of money. On her latest job she is searching for a famous painting by Da Vinci. She suspects (as you would.) that Group 52 have it. So she breaks into all their houses fo find information out?????? WHAT??? They all work for a super secret organisation and they’re going to have information about the work they do at their houses?? Also apart from two of the team, no one realises she’s been in their places. If you have an alarm and it’s switched off, even with the code it registers on the screen! So they would know!
So they all work together to get the painting back, and when they get it they study it in Ty’s home!!! A painting that’s worth £450 million and it’s in his house???? They’re were too many issues with this book. Sorry Anna Hackett. It’s just stupid.

River has never failed to deliver when contracted to retrieve stolen goods for the owners until now. She seems to have come up to a dead end with recovering the painting of the Salvator Mundi stolen from the Dubai Museum, she was sure that sleaze ball Chadwick Alton. Now her only lead is to the Team 52 members and checking out all their residences to see if they left any clues laying around. River did not count on being captured and tied up by big muscled Ty Sampson who studies the artifacts that Team 52 brings in to see what they can do. Ty has never had this much attraction to a woman before and River has never let anything interfere with her job. They are both going to have to deal with it as River has agreed to work with Team 52 to find the missing painting before who ever took it finds out what kind of dangerous weapon the painting leads to. Thank you to Anna Hackett for the very entertaining review copy. I am also a verified purchase. Highly recommend this author and her books.

River Elliott-Hall had been contracted to find a stolen paint, the Salvator Mudi and she had never failed to deliver. His alternatives were running out and risking a lot more, she went after Team 52. For what? We will see. Dr. Ty Sampson felt challenged by the skillful and mysterious woman. Feeling the attraction and still struggling with their feelings they shared issues that played important role in their lives and much more. Adventure, action, mystery, intriguing characters, suspense, violence, interesting gadgets and passion in this exciting story. Liked the fast pace, the plot development and how these strong characters matched physically and mentally. Voluntarily reviewed this interesting and entertaining story that kept me enjoying the mysterious details, the emotions and the and the explosive passion.

OMG Ty is just about the hottest Doctor ever!

Ty and River are a great match, they have core similarities but enough differences to make it interesting! Ty is the privileged billionaire's son who would rather tinker in his workshop than add the families already immense wealth. River is the illegitimate daughter of an aristocrat and a Jamaican mother. She has a chip n her shoulder the size of London!!

River left MI6 when she couldn't save her partner, but now she is in Team 52's sights as she keeps cropping up in their investigations and now she is snooping around their homes!

Grumpy, people hating Ty meets gregarious, fun loving but vulnerable River. Match made in heaven! Great snarky dialogue and hot, hot, hot passion between these two will singe your kindle!

I really need to start a spreadsheet or something to keep track of my boy Brooks nerdy t-shirts!

Team 52’s brilliant scientist Dr. Ty Sampson really didn’t like people in his space or bothering his things, former M-I6 agent turned thief, River Elliott-Hall, couldn’t care less. She’s on a job and has every intention of completing it and couldn’t let the sexiest lab rat she’d ever seen ruin her 100% success rate as she searched for a painting stolen from her current client.

Bold River believes Ty has no idea who she is as she saunters saucily to Ty, determined to seduce him. River’s captured by and escapes the team but gets hurt comes crawling back to Ty. Escaping again, River leads the team on a merry chase. Captured again, River grudgingly agrees to the team’s help as Ty and River cautiously scratch their shared itch. Also, Ty got to use all his muscles in this outing and played well against River’s cool smarts and physicality.

I think one of the best things about an Anna Hackett book is the way she writes her fenale characters. They're bold. They're sassy. They're fearless. They're aggresive and they know what they. River Elliot-Hall certainly epitomizes all those traits and then some. Ty Sampson is a grunpy genious who's happier in his lab either analyzing artifacts or inventing things to make Team 52's jobs easier, safer or give them the advantage. When someone is able to breach his home security, that he thought was impenetrable, you can bet he wants ro find out who they are. River is not what she expected yet she is everything he never knew he wanted. The Team and River join forces to find the painting she's searching for. The action is fast paced and hard hitting. The romantic interludes are white hot and spicy. I didn't put the book down until I'd read cover to cover.

A little kink, a hot sexy genius, and a mysterious thief in the night! Ty is grumpy and doesn't like anyone in his space. Until a woman gets by his high tech security and searches his home. Team 52 has to hunt her down and take her into custody. Ty wants her tied up for all sorts of reasons and none of them have anything to do with the Team. Hackett has done it again. In the 5th book in this series, she's matched up two very different characters and made them work well together. My only criticism is this story seemed rushed. It isn't shorter than any of the others. It has the same elements but there are parts which seem rushed. Despite the rush, Hackett tells a good and believable story. The writing is spot on and the sexy bits are steamy with a touch of kink. I'll be moving on to book 6.

Leonardo’s orb.

River was an MI6 agent until her partner was killed and nothing was done about it. So she went independent and built a good rep for herself. Her latest job takes her to Las Vegas where she tangles with Team 52. When she meets Ty, their scientist, she gets a serious case of lust at first sight. To the team’s surprise Ty is also google eyed at River. Once she admits to the job she has undertaken, that of recovering a multi million dollar painting by Leonardo da Vinci, Team 52 decide to assist her but it all starts to become much more complex than it first appeared.
Once again Anna has written a fast paced, action packed romance that leaves you wanting more. The romance is hot so be warned!

Someone is breaking into Team 52's homes and warehouses, and Ty Sampson is having none if it. He is on the hunt to find the culprit and encounters River, who sets him on edge in multiple ways.

River had been tasked with the recovery of a certain item and will stop at nothing to accomplish her goal. That is until she is forced to see that everything is not all black and white and there is way more at stake than a painting. Oh, and that Ty guy she can't seem to get out of her mind-( he's so frustrating... and attractive... get your head in the game River!)

Yet another awesome book by Anna. Loved the story and the complexity of the Team 52 world that just immerses you right into the action.
