Jared Templeton has been mated to his wolf shifter, Carson Angeni, for over a decade. Having spent the first half of his adult life as a high-paid assassin, Jared thought he’d struck a decent balance with pack life. Everything changes when their beta takes a position on the Shifter Council. That forces Alpha Declan to hold a challenge for a new Stone Ridge pack beta, which draws in unfamiliar wolves. The way one of the contestants—Larson—watches Jared arouses his suspicions, but he tells himself he’s being paranoid. Jared wasn’t being paranoid, and Declan’s daughter Sara is kidnapped. Even though they manage to save her, Jared still blames himself and acts rashly in an attempt to catch the culprits. His choice puts not only him but Carson in a tight spot with their alpha and a few others in the pack. Will Jared remember that pack is there for each other and aren’t just people to protect? Or will Jared’s past catching up with him create too big a wedge to overcome?
Rating: 4 stars Another book my friend lent me and I’m glad she did because it was good reading about Carson and Jared again. I always liked them even though Jared can be a bit much. We also get to read about Sara’s mating as well in this book. As always, my biggest complaint with this author is that I wish her stories were longer. Still we got a complete story even though it did end a bit abruptly.
On an odyssey trip through the Stone Ridge World series in order. Almost 200 of them! Individually I usually rate them a 3/5 - there is only so much an author can do in a short story or novella, and because there are several overarching plots and each book has a mini plot that does not always get wrapped up - the individuals are okay as stand alones. Some of them bomb and come in as 2/5 as they have holes. A few actually managed to hit 4/5. However; as a series binge they become a satisfying smorgasbord of reading.
This was full of action and lots of suspense. I just loved Carson and Jared and the constant passion and heat that they had for each other. It was also nice to see how Sara finally gets her mate, Ricky, to accept her. The plot was very enthralling and the writing was well done. The characters were lots of fun and many were from previous stories (or another series). I truly enjoyed reading this. I can't wait til the next book. This was outstanding. =)
I’ll admit I wasn’t all that excited about this one. One of the reasons I enjoy these books so much is the whole “meeting” thing. An established couple is kinda meh. But hey it’s Jared and Carson. Plus some Sara and her mate as well. It turned out being a really good book. Lots of action which is something that’s been missing the last few books.
Charlie Richards is a brilliant writer. I can never put down her books. Jared and Carson are favorite couple and to her more about them and to know what happen with Sara and her mate was a nice touch.
This was a great read. I always love the stories with Jared and Carson. Sorry to see their home go boom but it will be interesting to see who they are next.
It was really nice to have a full length story about Carson and Jared after they've been together for a decade. As always with these two lots of heat, laughter, and explosions.
Jared and Carson fake death to protect family pack . Sara bonds with her mate. Even with all the sex managed to get in a good amount of story even if it is left up in the air
I originally skipped this one. I thought it was just another short story. Boy was I wrong! Nice seeing so many of the characters together. And adventure! Amazing!!
My only gripe was the author forgetting her own timeline. Carson mentioned Sara was around when he and Jared met and when Declan and Lark first got together. Sara was a rescue AFTER both pairs were already mated. Declan and Lark adopted her as an established couple. I've been reading this series since the beginning and even I remember that.
The story was 5 star but the sex between Sara and her mate was what brought the story down completely. I read m/m romance only and do not think that m/f should have been written into it. Made the whole story just bum out for me. So very disappointed.
There are 2 stories in this book. The first is people from Jared's past occupation learn where he is. The second is Sara's troubled mating to Ricky. With a bit of help from Draven, Ricky's old police partner, and some of Kontra's gang everything gets sorted out.
