Just NO. Hero having sex with another woman (his Assistant!) AFTER meeting & having feelings for heroine is a BIG NO for me - add lying to heroine, OW drama, fake pregnancy & all around douchness from both Hero & heroine and it's a FU to this piece of garbage.

Mister Cowboy is my second read from Rebecca Jenshak, and I have to say it was a good one. This contemporary romance has the perfect mixture of sweet, heat, and angst. The couple in this story have a connection between them from the very start, that can’t be denied! January is there to help Brecken, but it ends up being so much more than that.

If you’re looking for a contemporary romance read that is light-hearted, but still packs the right amount of heat and angst, then this is it!

It's could have been a very nice read if not for the following:

So all in all, this was not a good read for me. Whenever books opens with Hero having sex with someone else, it goes downhill. But when Hero has sex with OW AFTER he meets heroine, well then, that is cheating and a NO-NO in my book. Thanks but no thanks!

* ARC in exchange for an honest review*

With Mister Cowboy aka Brecken Blackstone was LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!!! How could not be with such a hottie on the cover? I swear my first thought when I saw this cover was how to find a way to "land on him". Lol! That model is Pure temptation! Is like he just silently make that question!
Okay so after I expressed my full appreciation for the cover let me spend some words for the story too.
It's my first read by Rebecca Jenshak. And I'm impressed. She created a very refreshing and entertaining story. With a beautiful couple as protagonist. But she also made the trick. Because Brecken is not an " ordinary" cowboy. To be honest he is far from it. Or let put it this way. He is more the Mister than the cowboy. So where is the trap? Well he is just the right combination between the irresistible suit & tie CEO and the cowboy unmistakable charm. So let's say he prefers ties instead of cowboy boots and hat.
The heroine? Right because there is a girl too:) well January ( great name right?) Well January is the beautiful and clever kind of girl. She can handle any kind of situation. Her adaptability is one of her best skill. She is spontaneous, a workaholic. Well she is a beautiful and innocent with a few of surprises. Yes, because the pretty January has a sexy and overwhelming side too. And when it comes to love and wishes...well she has no doubts. Brecken is on her radar from the very first time their eyes locked. She is a gem. Really. She will give so much to Brecken. The question is : will be Brecken really to face all those challenges and make the right choices?

Brecken Blackstone owns a very successful software company. He has been focused on building his career and he has no close friends. Brecken had a falling out with his dad 18 years ago and never went back. His dad recently passed, leaving him the ranch he grew up on. His emotions are all tangled up and he is floundering on what to do with it. Now in his late thirties, he's wondering what's next for him.

January Lyle grew up in politics. Her dad is a Senator. She didn't like the plastic, superficial lifestyle and wanted far away from it. She struggled in college trying to figure out what she wanted to do and went from job to job trying to find her place in the world. She eventually discovers she has a knack and love of organizing. She also helps out her best friend and roommate, Michael, at his bar. I loved Michael.

January and Brecken meet at Michael's bar on her birthday. Brecken's last minute office party disrupted Michael’s plans to celebrate her birthday. Brecken ends up hiring January to clean out and organize the ranch to get it ready to sell. Mr. I don’t have time or interest in relationships finds himself inexplicably drawn to her and finding more ways to spend time with her.

Couple of things had me raising my eyebrows. Brecken has been sleeping with and going to social events for an entire year with Nadia. She got to pick the events they went to and he took her to all his business dinners. Even though he’d told her it was sex and social events, he didn't think after that amount of time she'd be attached or have a problem with him tossing her so easily and quickly to the side? Seriously? He worked with his VP very closely for the last 5 years and knows absolutely nothing about her or her personal life? Both of these things had me questioning if I was going to like him. His constant and consistent wooing of January began to win me over and made me think he was sincere in his pursuit of her. Then, BAM, the expected conflict happens and I want to smack him all over again. Eventually they figure it all out to get their HEA.

Discussion of birth control but no discussion of sexual health of either party before having unprotected sex.

Several dangling romantic lines lead me to think there may be more books in this series.

Mister Cowboy is a remarkable story about choosing between love or responsibility. About making our own paths in life and finding our happiness. This emotionally charged story takes you by the heart all the way to the last page.

I fell for Brecken immediately with his tailored suit and big grin. And as we went deeper there were so many layers to him, so much more than meets the eye. With his past shadowing his future you feel deeply for him. He is sweet with the best sense of humor.

Now let's talk about January Lyle! I love her spirit and spunk. She is polite yet funny. Her honesty is refreshing. The fact that she doesn't have it all together makes me ador her even more.

While these two are great individually they are even more incredible together. Their chemistry jumps off the page. It's magnetic, playful, sweet, and hot! And just as a safety precaution when fanning yourself to cool down don't hit yourself in the face, it can happen. (🙈)

With a perfect balance between writing, plot, and characters this book was a fantastic read. In fact I want more, so here is to hoping for Michael and Carrie's story!

AKA Mr Cowboy. Btw- I don’t consider this cheating as he had only met the h in a bar. They hadn’t even had a date. He did have sex with his F-buddy personal assistant the next day… but they had been tearing up the sheets for over a year. This had potential but a lot of the Aha moments fizzled. The H confesses is love for h then immediately dumps her when he finds out his F buddy PA who he doesn’t love is preggers. The H never sees a positive pregnancy test or report: He pushes away the h and pulls back several times. He’s really into the baby idea and being there for the ow… the h tells him that she’s all in even though he has a baby momma. Still he’s so enamored with being a daddy that he breaks up with her. He finally figures out he can’t live without his true love and says I’m sorry… the weakest of weak grovels and a weak H too. She forgives him way too easily and they ride off into the sunset hea.

Brecken is my two favourite things rolled up into one yummy package, successful business man and cowboy. That’s a winning combination right there!
January is a professional organiser, that is hired by Brecken to sort his dads ranch after he’s passes away.
These two sizzle!
I loved Brecken for being determined to find his own way in life. Working his own way up.
A fabulous book with a rollercoaster of ups and downs, that’s sure to keep you glued to your kindle. ❤️

This is a new author for me, but I will be sure to check out her other works x

Each chapter of this book was titled with the person who was telling the story - IN THE THIRD PERSON. I don't think I've ever read a book where the chapters were named and then the story was told in the third person. It was very bizarre and not a great style.

Brecken Blackstone is the owner of a successful software company in Denver. His father has recently passed and left him the family ranch. Brecken wants nothing to do with the ranch but to sell it. He stopped talking to his father when he left for college after discovering a horrible secret.

January Lyle is the daughter of a Senator from Illinois who moved to Denver for college. She’s a professional organizer, and after meeting Brecken once, he offers her the job of organizing the ranch to sell.

I liked the back story with Brecken, why he stopped talking to his father and his left the ranch. There was a side story with Brecken’s secretary I didn’t care for as much, and it was super predictable. January seemed to want to get away from the lifestyle she had with her father, but at the same time, needed her father’s love desperately. It was a little odd.

I liked the side characters in the book. January became friends with one of Brecken’s friend’s wife very quickly. I liked her roommate Michael a lot, and his side story was interesting.

The last 10% moved at kind of an unrealistic pace, but it was a good ending, and I liked the epilogue. Overall, a cute story and I would recommend.

Rebecca Jenshak does it again with another book I fall in love with the characters!

Organizer Extraordinaire, January Lyle, finds the perfect job as she navigates her new career path with CEO Brecken Blackstone's job opportunity. Don't be misguided by the title its not a full on Cowboy Romance just in case you are not into that trope; you just need to read it to understand it!

description

I have found in Rebecca's writing that her romances are just the perfect mix of angst, push and pull, and swoon worthy moments that I keep coming back for more!

I just LOVE January & Brecken Blackstone in MISTER COWBOY and you will too as you ride off into the sunset on horseback!

Brecken Blackstone is your typical billionaire. Well known, committed to nothing but his company but has the disposal of women as his beckon call when needed. So when he meets January Lyle, he knew she was different.

Brecken was just the type of guy that she tried to stay away from. She grew up with her father dragging her through business meeting and galas. But there was something that kept drawing her back to Brecken. The other problem though is that he is ber boss... and so she really should stay away. The chemistry though between the two of them is through the roof and once they passed over the line, it was hard for the two of them to stay away from each other.

But just as they thought things were going their way.. along comes Nadia.

I love Brecken... dirty talking, gorgeous and knows what he wants. January was fiery and fierce and could stand up to Brecken. Definitely pick up this book! It's a fun quick read from an author I love.

I don’t class myself as a blogger, I just post about the books I love on Instagram. So, as a general rule, I don’t sign up for review copies BUT when the opportunity came up to read and review Mister Cowboy, I jumped at the chance!! I had been seeing it pop up everywhere and it sounded like exactly the type of book I love. It was all that, and then some!!
I adored January and Brecken. Their chemistry was electric and I loved being witness to their blossoming relationship.
The story was brilliantly written with well developed characters, even the secondary ones (I would love to find out more about Michael!!!)

Brecken Blackstone is a character that you will not forget, I really don't think he has gotten the mass following he should have. This read will put you through the wringer, you will love him and then but ready to claw his eyes out. He is a very successful creator of a software company, he's got it all together on the outside but on the inside he is still dealing with a family secret his Dad told him when he was 18. He has not been back home since he left but after his fathers passing he hires professional organizer January Lyle to help clean up the estate and get it ready to sell. January is just a regular woman trying to stay afloat in her organizing business when she gets the offer for this huge job and well Brecken isn't bad to look at.
These two together gave me butterflies, Brecken was a freaking swoon-worthy Alpha who was just a bit jaded from his past. January is someone I would love to be friends with she's strong and caring and understanding I just loved her character, she really put herself out there. I loved the transformation from suits to wranglers.

This story opens up on January Lyle’s twenty-ninth birthday evening. When her plans with her best friend and roommate Michael went belly-up due to Michael having to work his brand-new bar. Because Blackstone Software company decided they wanted to through a last-minute party for its employees and were willing to pay a $500.00 bonus over the asking price for putting Michael out that night.

He hated to do this to her but he just couldn’t turn down this new business connection. This suit was someone with a lot of juice that could make or break him and right now that could hurt if he said no. So, here she sat at the end of the bar sulking instead of helping him out. Being her birthday, he refused to allow her to pick up or anything.

They were supposed to meet some friends at a new trendy club to drink and dance her birthday away. But instead, she was watching a whole lot of knockoff suits come in and out of the back room coming to the bar to get off a glass of Scotch neat. In general, she hated suits for that was all she was raised around. Men in suits with money. They thought they owned the world and everyone owed them. Well, not her.

Her father was a Senator in Chicago so that is why she was in Colorado but also one more reason for him to forget it was her birthday as if he needed anything. So, as she was sitting there Mr. Real Armani Suit walks in the door is all his sexiness that she had to make sure she wasn’t drooling I’m sure. That he headed straight for the bar to the empty seat right next to her. He asked if it was being used and she said, no. She noticed he had a little smirk so she realized she was openly staring at him. When Michael came back to their side of the bar he pours her more wine and asks Mr. Armani what he would like to drink to which he says, Coors. She turns her head in surprise and says, that she is she never would have pegged him for something so regular. She thought for sure he was a Scotch neat.

He wanted to know if she always judged people on appearance? She said no but judging by all the knock-off suits coming and going from the back room carrying Scotch neat’s it wasn’t hard to take a guess he was part of their crowd although with much better fashion sense. Plus, there are not too many Armani suits that come in ordering Coors. Then she asks if he was waiting for a Mrs. Armani or is it just the two of them, him and his suit? He laughed a deep laugh. Just the two he said if she would like to follow them home. She asked if that line ever worked for him he said he didn’t know it was the first time he ever used it. So, did it? They both laughed. But both their fires had been lit.

Michael comes back and asks if she wanted to still go out after he closed the bar. It wouldn’t be the same but it would be fun? She said, no, she was just going to call it a night. But Michael said she was crazy if she thought they would do nothing for her birthday. Then, he was off again to the other side of the bar to help someone. Then, Armani asks if it was her birthday.

She said yes. That Michael was going to take her out but some big software company had to have their party tonight. He paused in mid-drink. “I see.” He said. “Maybe another night.” She said, “No not the same.” Then, there was not one thing to be said after that it just felt awkward.

Michael appeared and cleared Armani’s empty bottle. Then he says, “Can I get you anything else, Mr. Blackstone?” Just as January was taking a drink and she started to choke. He asked her name she gave it. He got up and paid for the drink and the party then went to make an appearance.

This was an interesting story of two people who ran away from their past to make new lives for themselves. They did nothing wrong but the hurt and pressures of their past lives before was just too much and now the ghost was getting closer to them in their dreams and in reality.

See how they find a way to help each other out of some painful memories bringing new light to things that were looked at too harshly before. I give this: 5 stars. Provided by netgalley.com. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com.

Mister Cowboy by Rebecca Jenshak is a wonderful first read for me by this author. I am now faced with the task of looking up her other novels and reading more and more.

January Lyle is having a craptastic birthday. She is trying to go out with her best friend Michael to celebrate but he is working late at his bar taking care of a big work party that scheduled for the same night. Sitting and stewing she strikes up a conversation with a handsome stranger and promptly insults him not knowing his true identity.

Brecken Blackstone is the head of Blackstone Software, he is hosting an office party to raise morale before hitting his employees with tons of overtime. He strikes up a conversation with a beautiful woman sitting at the bar and is intrigued.

January is smitten with the handsome stranger but heads home only to be almost hit by a car crossing the street (while looking at her phone). Surprise it is her handsome stranger behind the wheel. Is this something beyond her control?

Brecken is hiding from his past, a past he walked away from years ago and hasn’t looked back. He needs to figure out a way to get it out of his head, forever, and January is the way to make that happen. He hires her to clean out and organize his family home getting it ready to sell. He finds himself being drawn to January more and more everyday and can’t quite figure out what exactly it all means.

January is falling fast for this suit wearing, sweet talking, extravagant gift giving hottie. She knows better than to get involved with her boss but he just won’t take no for an answer. Could Brecken be the man of her dreams?

There is the standard conflict, a woman who doesn’t let go easily, misunderstood parents and siblings and loyal BFFs.

I really enjoyed this novel and am anxious to read more by the author. She wove a story so well involving multiple people in the storyline without making it feel overwhelming or keeping up with too many characters. I laughed out loud at many points, especially when Mr Cowboy makes an appearance with some colorful language. I received this advance copy from the author via a raffle and I couldn’t be more excited now having read it.

Mister cowboy is a funny, simple story, with a few very interesting plot twits, you'll have a great time reading it! With a simple plot, the author manages to captivate you with her fresh style.

What is the story about? Well, the plot is nothing from the other world: a millionaire, sexy man and a beautiful, simple and pretty girl meet in a bar and since the minute they meet the attraction between the two of them is on fire.
Brogan is a rich man but he was not born in a golden cradle, since he was young he worked his ass off to build his own business.
January was born in a golden cradle, but she was never interested in money, and that was one of the reasons why she decided to move to another city away from his mayor dad and finally become independent.

One night, in a bar, January and Brogan meet and they feel very attracted to each other. But that night nothing happens (yet), what does happen is that January will be working at Brogan's ranch.
He needs to get rid of that ranch that brings him so many bad memories and pain, and she needs a job, what can go wrong? It's not like January will fall in love with his employer and Brogan falls in love with his employee.
Over time, the feelings of the two of them begins to mingle, however. Brogan hides a secret that can complicate things with Januaray.

I realy liked the characters and the relationship between Jan and Brogan, but the instalove didn't convince that much, I felt that things happened so fast between them, however they were so cute together

This was a surprisingly awesome book. Mister Cowboy is a remarkable story about love and responsibility. It truly is a story about making your own path in life and finding your self. The journey of finding happiness is displayed beautifully in this novel.

The main character Brecken is super wonderful. With his tailored suit and perfect grin. When I first started reading the novel I instantly like him, but as the book continued it really showed all the various layers that make him who he is. This side of the story was so emotionally charged I just couldn't get enough.

I also enjoyed January. She had a great personality and spunk about her. I really just loved her spirit. She is super polite and incredibly gracious. She also is a super funny character. She doesn't have life figured out but she also doesn’t pretend that she does.

Their chemistry just jumps off the page. They are perfect for each other even though they are polar opposites. They have a magnetic pull to each other. Their love is playful, sweet, romantic, and downright hot.

The writing in this novel is absolutely perfect. The plot is well developed and you can tell great care went into crafting this book. The characters made this book absolutely fantastic.

Overall this book was interesting in a number of ways. I rated it a four star as I found the pace at times to be slow. Other than that it was a near perfect book.

January is at bar waiting for her friend to end his shift when a sexy man in a sharp suit walks in. What begins as a chance meeting and flirting turns into a job. Breken Blackstone is a successful software company owner and has recently inherited a ranch and doesn’t want. So when he meets January, a professional organizer, he hires her to help him organize the ranch so he can sell it. Suddenly he finds himself faced with having to choose between responsibility and love.

I loved this couple so much! Rebecca Jenshak’s writing drew me in right away and I became wholeheartedly invested in Breken and January getting their happily ever after. The chemistry between the two was obvious and sizzling from their very first encounter and continued throughout the book. Breken was such a great hero. Sexy, sweet, and complicated enough to want me to peel back the layers. And every time I got a new layer of him I fell for him even more.

This story was the perfect mix of push and pull and sexy and romantic that had me devouring the pages as fast as I could. I’m fairly new to Ms. Jenshak’s writing, but I’m excited to read more if her stories continue to be like this one where I adored pretty much every character in the story. 4.5 Stars

4 1/2 Star Review......

Mister Cowboy is my first read by Rebecca Jenshak, but it certainly won’t be my last! A fabulous story that details the unexpected dilemma of choosing between a wealth of responsibility and the ache in your heart; this emotionally charged story is sure to have readers glued to their seats.

Brecken is adorable from the moment you meet him, with his suave sophistication, gorgeous smile, and sweet sense of humour; he is everything a woman could possibly want. And let’s not forget the effervescent January Lyle. A spirited, sassy and refreshingly honest woman, who lives a somewhat, undefined existence.

Separately, these characters have so many wonderful traits, but together they are compelling. Their chemistry is combustible, and will have you reaching to ramp up the AC, but they are light-hearted, sweet and just plain loveable too.

Ms Jensahk has written the perfect balance between love and angst, while providing readers with a great plot and an engaging support cast. I can’t wait for the next book!

Mister Cowboy is sexy, sweet, endearing, funny and full of emotions. I was drawn into the story from page one and couldn’t put the book down. Brecken and January are just too sweet together. I love the way there relationship gre and developed. Even when times were tough between the two you could feel that each of them were struggling within themselves.

Love and Responsibility...
Responsibility and Love...

How does one chose? Can one even chose? Brecken is left with decisions that he has to make whether ultimately right or wrong. He is a man whom seems to have it all however his past plays a huge role in how he interacts with people and the decisions that he makes.

This is my first book by Rebecca Jenshak and I truly enjoyed the story and loved getting to know Brecken and January.

4.5 Stars for Mister Cowboy!

Mister Cowboy is my first book by Rebecca Jenshak but I promise it won’t be my last!

I was nervous when I decided to read this book. The author was new to me, cowboys aren’t my typical go to trope and I wasn’t sure I was going to like it but I was intrigued. So I dove in with all the gusto I had.

And you guys - I loved it!
All. Of. It!

I understood both characters - in my gut! I connected with them, I aches for them, I wanted to help them but most of all - I loved them. They are all a both aittle bit broken, looking for love and trying to accept where they are in life and what comes next.

This book is a journey into learning to forgive - both ourselves and others. And it came at just the right time for me.

Oh and Brecken - he’s exactly my type!

Brecken is on a mission to make his company the best. He doesn’t have time for commitments or relationships.

January is between jobs and looking to stay out of social obligations. She has had enough of that for a lifetime.

Brecken was very closed off. He didn’t open up to anybody and rarely had feelings towards anything other than his company.

January was very passionate about her job and her friendships. She was very caring and willing to put her needs aside for others.

This story was somewhat of an insta-love story. They fell fast and their story shows how one person can change your entire world. I loved how January helped Brecken understand what all he was missing out on. Even when Brecken couldn’t get his act together, she was still there rooting for him.

Overall, this was a great book. The story made me fall in love with the ranch and all of the other characters.

Brecken Blackstone lived in the present. He loved his single, successful life. Work was all he needed. He had built his software company from the ground up. The only thing he needed to let go was his family's ranch.
January wanted to spend her birthday with her bestfriend Michael but was stuck at his bar while he catered to a highclass company party. She was in-between jobs as an organizer and just wanted to celebrate before looking her next client.
A casual flirtation, almost being hit by a car, and a bottle of wine start off these two characters amazing story. Brecken learns he needs more than January's organization skills. She learns he needs to get his past organized before they can have a future.
Loved this story and hopefully she continues as a series.

January Lyle is a professional organizer and helps her friend Michael out at his bar. As January is waiting for Michael to finish work so they can go out and celebrate her birthday in walks a sexy man in a suit. The two flirt for a little bit before she learns he is Brecken Blackstone who is CEO of his own successful software company and recently inherited the ranch where he grew up.
The chance meeting has January almost run over and then getting job organizing Brecken’s ranch so he can sell it. The two have instant sexual chemistry and provide great humor.
Great book with an amazing story line, I read the book in one day and cannot wait to read more by Rebecca Jenshak.

“Well, hello, Mister Cowboy.”

Let me just say this: I found this book to be overwhelmingly addictive and consuming, especially as it neared its conclusion—I’m talking butterflies in my stomach, heat rushing to my face, general disbelief and frustration with these characters. All in the best way, of course.

Basically, Rebecca Jenshak gave me a CEO cowboy and an unexpected personal organizer, made me love them and then was like, 'you don’t need your heart right now, do you?'

So good.
