Will knows who he is, even if he doesn't remember how or why he ended up on the run with one of the aliens everybody calls "wolves."
He knows the wolves were welcomed to Earth with few reservations and shared technology and knowledge freely—until their first heat season revealed the dark truth about their attraction to human scent and changed the world as he knew it forever. He knows the wolves rule the American Protectorate, a place where they roam freely and claim humans for mates.
Will knows he has a past—and he knows something's wrong, that his life isn't what it should be—but he has no way to know that his past is about to come for him, and it's going to be a fight to the death for his heart and soul…
A Wolves' Heat novel. Book 9.
Exciting male/male romance for anyone who likes alien contact, fated mates, and men who aren't afraid to make a little—or a lot—of trouble!
This series has become a lost cause. The overarching plot almost did not progress since Brendan's story (for the political background between Trey's loyal wolves and the dissidents on which the second half of Gerald's Lot revolves around is so muddled as to be unintelligible), the last three books were almost valueless both as romances and suspense stories, the writing had long degenerated into the very kind of bare and dessicated and unevocative prose (run-on sentences galore!) that sounds desultory to my mind, if not insulting for the paying reader - yet for once that Mrs Lynne chose to simultaneously deepen her universe and pick up the thread of her main cross-species plot line, it had to happen within a long-winded yet unsubstantial story full of false starts, ill-fitting narrative devices (we grow tired of being force-fed temporal ellipses and trite coincidences and instances of convenient timing, to mention but a few of the tired grosses ficelles Mrs Lynne has been relying on since book 4), and protagonists who amount to a study in blandness, discounting the prominent errors of continuity (the grossest one being that the wolf who saves Will' life bears the name Zen in chapter one only to be called Zyn from the second chapter on). I shall say no more.
This story was very confusing. It had been a while since reading the other books in the series and maybe that is the reason I feel like this story had so many twists and turns.
I really hope we get to see Ryan’s story mating with a human male (although he prefer the female body. Maybe a more slender twinkish boy). I feel like Garret has a story already and if not I hope we get that too!
I do want to say I loved Will’s character development and his courage. He knew how to hold his ground, even if it almost killed him, for what he believed to be right!
Another wonderful addition to the wolves heat series ! I really enjoyed this book and loved the main characters. Will was such a strong character and I love that he wanted to save himself instead of letting stronger mate do it. Abel was super sweet and hot, I really liked how he supported Will even when he didn't like his decisions. I hope we get more books in this series because it is one of my all time favorites! I also want to see how this prophecy plays out
I've read and loved all the other books in this series but this book I just didn't like. You read the first few chapters, getting invested in Will and Zyn, reading Will's feelings twords Zyn, only to learn that Zyn isn't written in as Will's mate. It really sucks. I had no interest in Abel and hoped Will and Zyn would be a thing. And then the scene that implies Zyn having sex with someone else just cemented my dislike of this book. It just left me feeling sad.
I am so in love with this series, and the saga continues with book #9, “Will’s Hope.” The main characters are Will Jacobson and Obetishiki (Abel), plus Zen, who is perhaps less the a main character but way more than a secondary character. I found this book to be a bit hard to follow in the beginning, but with the arrival of Abel, the pace picked up nicely. We first met Abel when he had a brief appearance in Brendan’s book.
“Fate,” Will said. And then, almost breathless with the connection, “The universe is having its way.”
The author is a wonderful wordsmith and the dialogue is so believable, plus the story arc always leaves me eagerly awaiting the next book. “Will’s Hope” could be read as a stand-alone, but as there are references to previous characters and events, I recommend that the series be read in order.
Was thrilled to see that this series had a new book! One of the MCs has a brain injury which impacts his perceptions which was really interesting the read through, since the book is written from his perspective. Great seeing so many of the other characters from previous books. Hope there are more coming!
This series constantly gives me whiplash. I love it, don't get me wrong, It's just I always feel like I'm missing something, as if maybe I missed one of the books in the series that explains more in detail about the prophecy and the characters. I'll think I understand what is going on and then BOOM 'wait, what?' Still love it though and am eagerly awaiting the next installment.
Honestly this series is easily the best books I've ever spend money on. I love the characters, the world, the wolves, the cultural differences, everything. I just wish there were more. I really hope this series continues on. I think Will and Abel are one of my favorites MCs of all time.
The first bit is tough because it conveys so well the anguish and confusion to come. The whole story is very satisfying. I do hope there are more to come in thus series!
I read the entire series again over the last few days and this story made a lot more sense. BUT, I still don't know why Ryan (Zen) did what he did. There are new people mentioned in each book and it's difficult to track who did what or in which book or even if they did anything at all.
I hope there is a #10 coming that will answer some questions.
