Good Hope #10

Sparks Fly in Good Hope

Rate this book
Greer Chapin doesn’t do crazy things in the name of love. Yet when no one steps up to run for mayor of Good Hope, love for her hometown takes over. That smart, sensible Greer would make an excellent mayor is a given—as is the fact that she’ll win, because she’s running unopposed. Or so she thought. When another candidate throws his hat in the ring at the eleventh hour, Greer’s world is turned upside down.

Wyatt McConnell can’t believe how much his life has changed. Two months ago he was working long hours as a city manager in Chicago. Then he learned that a grandfather he never knew had died and named him as his sole heir. Faster than you can say ‘neighbors helping neighbors’ Wyatt moves to Good Hope and finds the home he’s always dreamed of. He might even have found the woman of his dreams too—if he can convince Greer not to hate him for running against her.

Falling for their opponent might be irrational, but Greer and Wyatt can’t resist each other. As election night nears, the reality of their situation is impossible to ignore: While there can only be one winner, both candidates are in danger of losing their hearts.

There are no outsiders in Good Hope!

Greer Chapin has always been somewhat of a mystery to me. She is Lynn Chapin's only daughter, a stepsister to the Blom girls, and in the previous books, has always been busy with work. She is friendly with most of the other people in Good Hope, but only on the surface, it seems. Greer is always on the sidelines, standing by herself, looking on as life passes her by.

She struck an unlikely friendship with Roy, who owned the cherry orchard and plant in Good Hope, and accidentally meets his grandson who has taken over the business and moved to Good Hope. Wyatt McConnell is no stranger to adversity - he was orphaned at a young age and was in the foster care system for a good while, until he met his forever family. He knows how it is to be on the outside looking in, and has learned to value connections and community.

There is attraction, sure. But there is also competition - they are both running for mayor! This makes things even more complicated and difficult for Greer and Wyatt. There is an eventual meeting of the minds (and heart!) -- the bond that started to develop between them when they take care of Brynn, however, was too strong to be ignored, and they realize that they have so much more in common than they first thought.

I love the Good Hope books because it is like a visit to my small town, hometown - we catch up with old friends and how they have been, we also meet new friends whose stories are yet to be told. It is like being welcomed home with a big hug and a giant smile. Oh, and cookies from Bloom Bakery! The greatest strength of this book is that it shows us how important it is to belong -- to a community, a family, a special someone. For two people who have always been isolated and apart from everyone else, this is the most amazing gift they can receive - finding a home, a love and a life with each other.

The book, as always, was well written and the story just flowed. There are little lessons interspersed in the story that we call all benefit from, and at the very end, this story shows us that love is more important than anything in the world - it can be love between friends, between parents and their children or romantic love, but, cliche as it may sound, love does make the world go `round.

**I received an ARC of this book, but this review is written willingly and all opinions expressed herein are my own.

I appreciated getting a copy of this book from the author and publisher in exchange for an honest review - it was the perfect Independence Day read.

Greer is a businesswoman and an introvert, who spends the majority of her time on various projects and committees geared towards helping others. She runs for mayor of Good Hope when nobody steps up, because she loves her town. Wyatt recently inherited a large amount of land in Good Hope, and has a background in city politics. When he too decides to run for mayor, sparks do fly, but since the two of them are decent people, there isn't a lot of backstabbing and drama. This was a nice, romantic getting-to-know-you story.

Greer Chapin and Wyatt McConnell are featured in Sparks Fly in Good Hope. I loved the pairing of introvert Greer with the self-assured new comer Wyatt in this novel. Sparks fly between this couple-and their attraction sizzles off the pages. Greer decides to run for mayor and her comfortable world is turned upside down when Wyatt runs against her!

Greer is known for her careful, sensible approach to situations. She runs the family’s bank and is a member of the Good Hope Giving Tree; a local community group dedicated to helping others. .
A visit from Marigold Rallis tests Greer’s problem solving abilities and her banking policies.
Marigold has asked Greer to give her a $20,000 personal loan to cover the costs of IVF. Greer wants to help Marigold but, her first priority is what’s best for the bank. I loved that Greer thought out of the box and provided a solution to Marigold. This decision made me realize that Greer was becoming more confident in her decision making—she was making choices she felt comfortable with for her friends and community.

Wyatt McConnell arrived in Good hope to settle his grandfather’s estate. A former city planner in Chicago—he is not sure if living in a small community is right for him. He doesn’t have any ties to Good Hope or to his grandfather’s cherry orchards. He needs to decide if he should sell the business and cherry orchards. Wyatt speaks with his sister Trinity and she challenges him to get involved in the community and consider keeping the family run business. This conversation changed Wyatt’s thinking about Good Hope; he wanted to belong and he wanted to pursue Greer.

Loved that matchmakers Gladys, Ruby, Katherine and Oaklee decided that Greer and Wyatt were their next project! I just love how they bring couples together; the matchmakers play an important role in the novel—they arrange for Greer and Wyatt to spend time together with Greer’s family. Gladys and Oaklee’s conversations and antics make me laugh out loud and I look forward to reading about them.

Loved that the author wove the themes of Wyatt wanting to belong-to a family and a community-and Greer’s desire to help people in the community throughout the novel. I adored this opposites attract novel because Greer and Wyatt complement each other and bring out the best in each other.

Sparks Fly in Good Hope showcases community spirit-neighbors helping neighbors. The novel has all the feels- Gladys and Oaklee provide humor; Ami, Jackie and Corey’s stories are relatable and Greer and Wyatt’s love story is passionate and very romantic.

And…I am hoping Trinity and Ryder’s story is next!

I really enjoyed Wyatt & Greer! Greer was so serious & by the book. She took over the bank from her father & was determined not to make the same mistakes her father made. Her personality doesn’t come through properly because she doesn’t do well on a stage. She’s better in the one to one which is why it’s such a surprise she’s running for mayor. No one wanted to run so she stepped up. Of course, no one is running against her. Until Wyatt moves into town.

Wyatt moved into town after inheriting land & a factory from a relative he knew nothing about. While having a meal at a local diner, he misunderstood a conversation & decided to run for mayor. He was sure he’d be better than Greer, until he met her & got to know her. Why is he attracted to her? The more time they spend together, the stronger the feelings.

Even though these two seem like complete opposites, they are perfect for each other. Greer reminds Wyatt what he really believes in & teaches him about the town & it’s inhabitants. Wyatt helps Greer loosen up & trust her heart. They bring out the best in each other & minimize each other’s faults. This was a fun, enjoyable read.

Greer Chapin has always been known for her sensible, no nonsense attitude. She believes she would be a great mayor because she knows the citizens of Good Hope and the issues that face the town. Wyatt McConnell worked as a city manager in Chicago before moving to Good Hope. He fell in love with the small town, as well as the lovely woman who appeared to him in his cherry orchard. Now, he wants to be mayor. Can Greer and Wyatt keep their relationship out of the mayoral race, or will their love be lost in the competition?
I loved this novel. It was one of the best of the series so far. The romance was heart-warming. The characters were complex with hidden secrets and fears. And, the plot was full of angst and tension that made me turn the page until I found the happy ending. I can’t wait until the next installment to this fabulous series. I always love visiting Good Hope and this was no exception. Greer has lived her whole life in Good Hope and is a rule follower. She is now running for the mayor unopposed until newcomer, Wyatt has arrived in town. Wyatt has inherited property in Good Hope and feels he has a lot to offer this small town. Sparks fly in more than one way, now as opponents in the race but they can't deny the sexual chemistry that they share.

The perfect summer read with baseball games, picnics and catching up with the residents of Good Hope. Loved how to opposite people find a common ground in their personal lives and grow from each other.

This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. I read through my kindle unlimited.

First of all, Good Hope is a perfect town filled with warm and welcoming people. This is the 10th book showing us how sad it is that we do not all live in Good Hope.

Greer has lived here all her life. She is a brilliant young woman. She runs the bank which has been in her family for generations. She is a part of nearly every committee in town which does good for the citizens. The motto for Good Hope is “neighbors helping neighbors.” And it is quite appropriate with Greer.

Although she is very conscious of running the bank in a strict and sensible manner, in her private life she devotes her time to doing what she can to make Good Hope a better place.

When the office of mayor becomes open and no one wants to run, Greer steps up and files to run. She will be unopposed. This is stepping out of her comfort zone because she is a very private person. She does not feel comfortable with just everyone.

A new man in town has also filed to run for mayor. Wyatt has moved to Good Hope because he inherited a cherry orchard as well as a factory for processing the cherries. He came from a background of working for a city government and feels that he has the experience to bring new ideas to Good Hope.

The first meeting between Greer and Wyatt does not go swimmingly. Both of them act like jerks.

But, as they are exposed to one another on a regular basis, each of them finds that the other one is a person with intelligence a good heart and a well developed sense of who they are. The fact they are both very attractive and have sex appeal does not hurt either.

Greer was a hard woman to like. She seemed ready and willing to take offense at just about anything or anyone she met. Even her own family can offend her just by making a comment she does not like. I found it difficult to understand how after living in Good Hope for her entire life, she could still feel so uncomfortable with so many people there. I did admire her strength and ability to face what comes and maintain her appearance of serenity.

Wyatt helps her look at the world from a different and more adventurous viewpoint. He was very good at bringing her out of herself. He has a good sense of humor and he enjoys teasing Greer. She never gets the jokes nor does she like the idea of being teased.

Wyatt is a friendly man who has overcome a past that started out badly. But, when he was adopted by foster parents who loved him, he learned that life could be much more fulfilling and happy.

Once again, Ms Kirk has provided me with a story which illustrates a world filled with warmth, caring and love.

The characters from past books make brief appearances which helps with continuity. Although this is 10th in the series, there is not a problem getting your footing. Past events, characters and relationships are well documented. This works well as a stand alone read.
But, I recommend that you start with earlier books. Because the enjoyment will be even greater.

If I could find Good Hope on a map, I believe I would relocate. I would just have to learn to live with a Wisconsin winter.

This is a terrific book. Ms Kirk has never disappointed with this series.

I received the book from the author. I am voluntarily writing this review and all opinions are completely my own.

I love every time we return back to Good Hope. Greer Chapin is a pretty reserved person who does not enjoy being in the spotlight and has had a rock solid exterior in previous books. That made me raise an eyebrow when the story has her running for mayor.

She runs the town’s bank, previously run by her father, with precision and by the rules, but loves Good Hope with every fiber of her being. She embraces the town’s motto “neighbors helping neighbors” and does what she can to support the town. Even though she grew up in Good Hope, and has so many family ties, she has remained somewhat of a mystery. However, it is finally time for us to see the softer side of Greer.

Wyatt McConnell recently inherited a cherry orchard and factory from his grandfather, Roy, whom he did not know existed. He comes to Good Hope after losing his job as a city manager and was unsure about staying. Ultimately, he decides to stay and thinks his previous experience could be beneficial for the citizens of Good Hope.

No one else wanted to run for mayor, so Greer stepped up to do it and was running unopposed until Wyatt joined the race after learning being a land owner qualifies him. He believes the town deserves an option in their mayoral race and that his previous experience will bring a new perspective.

At their first meeting, Wyatt and Greer did not hit it off. He acted like a curmudgeon and she wasn’t sure why he was being rude as she and Roy were good friends. We watch their relationship grow and develop. Not only does Wyatt come to love the town and citizens of Good Hope, but he also grows fond of Greer. They bring out the best in each other and ultimately accept one another for quirks, flaws, and all. One of the struggles I had with their first meeting, was the abrasive Ness. Once we got a little more into the story, we see the edges start to soften.

All in all, I enjoyed this book. Of course, I have enjoyed the series. While they can be read as standalone, my suggestion is to read them in order because, as the series moves along, we see glimpses of future characters and the ones we met in previous books are peppered throughout and we still get to see them thrive and grow.

In this story we return to Good Hope, a town where the motto is "neighbors helping neighbors". I enjoyed this book from the beginning to the end. It was a great escape for me to once again spend time with friends and neighbors from this special town.

Greer Chapin was a long time resident of Good Hope. She was a hard worker and was involved in many projects and committees in Good Hope. She meets a newcomer to her town while she was escaping to find peace and solitude at her friend's orchard. Wyatt McConnell, who was the grandson of the former owner of the land, Roy Davis, wasn't very welcoming. He wanted Greer off his land. So, their relationship had a rough start from the beginning. Wyatt had moved from Chicago where he was a City Manager. He would be managing his grandfather's orchard and factory if he decided to stay in Good Hope.

Greer was running unopposed for the Mayor of Good Hope. Just to make things interesting, Wyatt decides to run for Mayor. He felt that he would be a good candidate as he had experience working in city government. The sparks did fly as Greer and Wyatt had many encounters and they were of the romantic kind. They were attracted to each other and the attraction only got stronger the more time that they spent together. They also get a little help from the town's matchmakers, Gladys, Ruby and Katherine. Love those ladies as I am a romantic at heart as well.

I loved this story and found it to be a very easy read. There were so many different aspects throughout the book. The love story, the mayoral race of two people who fell in love while campaigning against each other, a committee formed to help foster children after aging out of the system and once again visiting with friends and families that we have loved from previous books. This book can definitely be read as a stand-alone but I recommend the whole series.

Greer Chapin, Lynn Chapin’s daughter, has lived in Good Hope her entire life. When she took over at the bank after her father, she vowed not to allow her feeling to interfere with good business decisions. Although Greer believed in the Good Hope motto of neighbors helping neighbors, she didn’t follow this motto in the business world. Instead, all of her loan decisions were based solely on facts.

When Greer decided to run for mayor, no one stepped in to run against her. Everyone knew that Greer was involved in most of the committees and organizations in Good Hope. This love of community along with her good business sense meant that Greer would be an amazing mayor.

Everything was perfect until Wyatt, the grandson of Roy came to death following Roy’s death. When Wyatt first arrived, his purpose was to come to the cherry farm operation and get it ready to sell. Wyat was involved in city life and city government. Why would he want to stay in a small town like Good Hope?

However, soon, Good Hope found its way into Wyatt’s heart and he decided with his experience, that he would make a great mayor for Good Hope. Wyatt and Greer started off on the wrong foot; however, as they got to know one another, sparks of friendship, and maybe love began to blossom.

Although many of the previous characters, including the Bloom sisters appear in this book, it was nice to get to know some of the other residents in Good Hope. Cindy Kirk does a great job at character development. As you read the Good Hope series, you begin to feel a part of the community. If I could find a town as lovely as Good Hope, I would pack my bags and move!

“Sparks Fly In Good Hope” is the romantic story of Greer Chapin, a bank loan reviewer and Wyatt McDonnell, an out-of-towner who recently inherited his grandfathers cherry orchards.

Greer, is well established because of the bank and has many family ties as well. Her love of the town is a passion she enjoys and since the mayor will not be running again for a new term she decides to throw her hat in the ring.

Wyatt recently left a successful position as a city manager, but due to a recent election a new political party took over and he was now out of his appointed job. He was undecided whether to keep or sell the orchards but maybe this was a sign and the start of a new beginning, and with his experience he could easily do the job as mayor.

As the title suggests sparks start to fly when Greer and Wyatt start to work together on town committees and Wyatt learns that when buttoned up Greer does let her hair down she charming and a woman he wants to get to know better. But the position of Mayor is influential in the direction Good Hope will take for its future, can the better man win and the loser work with them still side by side? Especially if this relationship also becomes more than just friends?

The characters are well thought out and makes a really great read.

Oh how I love Summer in Good Hope and boy do sparks fly this fourth of July!
Greer Chapin has been around the Good Hope books before, but in this book we really get to meet her and see under that hard exterior. We find out from page one that she isn't has tough as she looks.
We also find out more about Roy and his passing and the effect on the town. What will become of the Cherry Farm?
I assumed Greer would be more like Eliza, but she isn't. Greer is a great character to meet and really get into. Greer has a lot of misconception about life. She doesn't want to be her dad and takes advice from Roy that worked well for her, but after meeting Wyatt she might have to rethink her view and opinions. Thankfully Greer's mom makes her see things in a different way. Add all this is happening while Greer is trying to run for Mayor of Good Hope.
Wyatt is an outsider, he wasn't born and raised in Good Hope. He was Roy's grandson, but knows nothing about his family or the town. After a chance meeting with Greer and getting a good feeling about the town he decides not only to stay in town but also to run for Mayor.
Wyatt and Greer are awesome characters and so much fun to meet and get to know. They add a new layer to Good Hope and give us a look at how the town is run.
Of course add all our favorites are back and we get to follow up on Hadley and David. If you love Good Hope and are looking for a great summer / beach book pick this up!!!

As before, people prominent in previous novels make appearances here, providing continuity and continuing their stories.

This novel focuses on Greer Chapin (who made previous appearances) and newcomer Wyatt McConnell. Greer is a local banker who avoids the spotlight. However, when no one runs for mayor, she decides to run, because she feels an obligation to serve her town and friends. Wyatt, who grew up as an adopted child, recently discovered his grandfather, who he never met nor knew he existed, bequeathed him the cherry orchard, a major tourist attraction and employer in Good Hope. While growing up, Greer had a close relationship with Wyatt’s grandfather and used the orchard as a sanctuary. When Greer visits the orchard, she has a bad introduction to Wyatt.

Wyatt decides to run for mayor, even though he is a newcomer. Wyatt was a city manager, so he has a lot of relevant experience and is an excellent public speaker. Greer is much more reserved, and does not like public speeches. At the first public debate, Wyatt wows the crowd while Greer fumbles her way through her presentation. Momentum shifts to Wyatt in the mayoral race.

Greer, however, is a fighter, and work hard on her campaign. Neither Greer nor Wyatt can ignore their mutual attraction. Who will win the election? Can the two political rivals overcome the politics to a HEA?

This book is an excellent addition to the Good Hope series, and I eagerly await more stories.

Sparks fly in Good Hope

First off "I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it."

I wish it had more sparks! I love the people and the town in this series. It makes me feel like part of the family and community. I gave the book 4 stars because I truly loved the base of the story and most of the characters in the community. I only wish that Greer and Wyatt had more sparks especially since they were running against each other for Mayor. It was too easy. It was too uncomplicated. I really didn’t see why Greer was so hostile in the first few pages to the point that I almost didn’t want to continue. There’s being a strong, independent, shy, straight to the point person and being a complete witch. She was a complete witch those first few pages. Of course, Wyatt as the new owner had perfect right to ask who she was on his property. She attacked him so that put me off her right away. She did redeem herself in my eyes while I continued reading. They do make a good couple complimenting each other. I think they’re could have been more of a competition for Mayor but also more suspense with Tom Jenkins. It would have been great if the election was a tie and they worked together as Mayor. The matchmakers didn’t have to work too hard in this one. I hope Trinity and Ryder story is a bit more complex. I also hope that I’m not disappointed in Oaklee’s story when that comes out. I think that could be hilarious!

Coming back to Good Hope is meeting up with old friends. I am always excited for a new story about these characters and it feels as though we’ve never been apart. This time we get to meet Ms. Greer Chapin, who manages the town's bank but who has also decided to run for mayor. No-one else is running, until Wyatt McConnell arrives in town.
Wyatt has had to come to Good Hope to settle the estate of a grandfather he never met and he arrives having lost his job in his local government. He decides to run against Greer for the position of Mayor of Good Hope. He thinks he can win but what he didn’t count on was falling in love with this town and all the people who live there. This most definitely includes his rather prim and stand-offish opponent, Greer.
In order to win Greer realises that she needs to be more open to people and that she is up against a talented opponent. Along the way Greer also realises that she loves Wyatt too but how can they be together when one of them is going to lose the race.
I loved the fact that we caught up with all the other characters that we already know and love – I can never get enough of Good Hope. I couldn’t put this down until I had finished the story. Yet again Cindy has let us see the world of Good Hope through her eyes and her words and I, for one, hope there is more to come!

I really liked this one. It is a solid entry in the series. What I like most about this series is the character development in each book. Usually one or both of the partners in the relationship has to move past something that is holding them back in order to fall in love, admit they are in love, or whatever. The author does a great job delving into their issues and showing how they are worked through to get to a better place. In this case, Greer is very job-oriented and unapologetic. She does a lot of stuff for a lot of people, but never talks about it so few people know. She has trouble tooting her own horn and comes off as very standoffish which are problems given that she's running for mayor. In the process of competing with Wyatt for the position, she learns how to loosen up a little and let people in.
Even though it was out of place having a random chapter thrown in told from a different perspective, I actually liked that the Ryder story line was set up as well as it was for a future book. I also like the continued hints at a future Ethan story line. I'm still waiting for Izzy's!
I didn't realize when I received the book that it is set at the Fourth of July, so it's ironic that I finished it as a holiday read over the 4th. Good timing!

Oh My Gosh - How great it was to travel back to GoodHope! Although this book can be read as a stand alone story - to get the true understanding of the ALL the characters in the story (not just the main focus characters or Greer and Wyatt) you gotta read the first 9! The GoodHope series is all about all characters that make up this wonderful little town - in each book the author does a fantastic job of developing 2 characters while giving the reader insight of how previous characters are still developing and introducing new ones.

Sparks Fly in GoodHope is all about a long time side-character Greer Chapman (who has appeared in many of the previous books) and new-to-town Wyatt. The characters are down to earth, realistic, charming and lovable. Greer, an introvert, is a by-the-rules multi-tasking organized woman who comes off to the people around her as standoffish or "thick-skinned". Wyatt, growing up in foster, has a political passion to control situations he can and is searching for a place to belong. Greer and Wyatt's relationship starts as confrontational but grows to friendship and love. This is a wonderfully written story that moves along easily and enjoyably.

I received an advance reader copy from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.

The Good Hope series is my absolute favorite series in this genre. This author creates a warmth that is comfortable, as well as distinctly different characters and unique plotlines for each couple. The time frame is leading up to the Fourth of July and all the normal summer activities in Good Hope. The character of Greer Chapin has been on the fringes of other stories. Cindy Kirk does a good job of making Greer a driven businesswoman while giving readers insight as to why Greer is so serious. Wyatt, on the other hand, lost his job when the mayor he worked for failed to get reelected. We also get insight into things that drive him, but he's a much more relaxed type of person. As for the plotline, we are treated to venues and events we have read about in previous books, but it's seen from these characters and given a unique twist fitting this story. Although this could be a stand-alone book and you don't have to read the others in this series, it's much more meaningful to read all the books in this series! Greer Chapin loves Good Hope. She is a rule follower and wants to see what's best for her town. When no one steps up to run for Mayor, Greer steps in and runs for mayor. Wyatt McConnell arrives in Good Hope when he learns that his grandfather has passed away and he is now the sole beneficiary to the cherry orchard and business. When Greer and Wyatt first meet, they could never guess where life would eventually take them.

As the tenth book to the Good Hope series, this was a story that flowed incredibly well. It did not feel rushed and the relationship between Greer and Wyatt seemed to develop naturally over time. As each of them gets to know the other, it becomes clear that both could easily step into the limelight of being the next mayor of Good Hope. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and how easy it was to fall back into step with the people of Good Hope. In many ways, Cindy Kirk reminds me of another favorite author- Maeve Binchy- with the interconnection of characters throughout the Good Hope books. If you love Good Hope, then this book is not to be missed.

I can’t even begin to express how much I enjoyed Sparks Fly in Good Hope. This book really touched my heart. For years, I’ve told my husband that if we won the lottery, I would quit my job (high school English teacher) and open a communal home – kind of a halfway house – for young adults who have aged-out of the foster system. I, too, see a real need in this area, and I would like to create a home where “rent” equaled shared tasks that would keep the home running (cooking, cleaning, laundry) but which offered these young adults stability and autonomy along with guidance and, to some degree, supervision. I was so happy to read a book about a group that clearly also recognizes this area of need. I also identified a lot with Greer, her introspective type-A personality and her challenge of melding her discomfort with being social with her desire to help others. What a wonderful book! I always enjoy my time in Good Hope, and I love visiting with the characters of past books as their lives progress. I look forward to reading Ryder’s and Trinity’s story.

This is the tenth book in the Good Hope series of books. Greer Chaplin is a by the books business woman running her family’s bank. When no one in town runs for mayor, Greer throws her hat in the ring. Greer figures she is a shoo-in since she is running unopposed. Wyatt McConnell just inherited his grandfather’s cherry business and has moved to Good Hope. Even though he is a newcomer to town, he decides to also run for mayor to give the town an option. Greer and Wyatt are thrown in together on a committee to help foster children aging out of the system. Of course, as they work together, they see each other as more than rivals. I loved both Greer and Wyatt. Greer is wound pretty tight, but Wyatt sees past her seriousness to the warm woman underneath. Wyatt is pretty much the perfect book boyfriend, despite a tough childhood he is kind, loving and generous. I also loved catching up with all of the residents of Good Hope and cannot wait for the next book in the series. Let me start off by saying, I was SO excited to get back to Good Hope! This book featured life-long Good Hope resident, Greer and outsider Wyatt. Wyatt was brought to town to settle the estate of his grandfather, an unlikely friend of Greer. This sets off a chain of events that include a stand off in a cherry orchard, unexpected neighbors, and even opposing mayoral candidates! It was nice to see the "softer" side of Greer. In previous books, I felt like she was always holding herself back from making real relationships. She often came off as stern and uncaring. This book explains a bit of her past, which helped me to connect with Greer on a new level. I enjoyed seeing Greer's brothers defend their sister, while also helping her to come out of her shell and be more accepting. The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars in because I found myself more excited about the possibility of a romance between Wyatt's sister Trinity and Good Hope resident, Ryder!

I absolutely love the Good Hope series and Cindy Kirk has done it once again! This is book #10 and just as the title suggests, sparks do fly in Good Hope!
This book focuses on Greer Chapin who is a bank loan reviewer at the local bank after taking over from her father. She is a do it by the book, straight-laced kinda girl until she meets Wyatt McDonnell. Wyatt is new to Good Hope after recently inheriting his late grandfather's cherry orchards.
As in all good love stories, Greer and Wyatt don't at first get along and become opposing candidates for the position of mayor.
Throughout the course of the book, you fall more in love with Greer and Wyatt and really want them to get together. Do they????
This is a definite read if you're a fan of not only the Good Hope series but of Cindy Kirk. You need to know if Greer and Wyatt end up together don't you?
Once I started this book, I couldn't put it down and really wish, that I too, could live in Good Hope!

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Spoilers possible. I love the Good Hope series and the town itself. It’s the perfect small town atmosphere where faith, family, and love come before the materialistic things in life. This book takes us into an interesting branch-off of town relationships as Wyatt, the main love interest is an outsider joining the town by default of his grandfather, a town elder who made quite the impression on Good Hope residents. Wyatt meets the reserved, closed-off Greer and the story begins. They become rivals and immediately realize there’s more underneath the surface. I couldn’t remember Greer mentioned much in previous stories so I found myself curious about her background and connection to the town, but the book does address most of her connection. I would have liked a little more about how she came to position of running for Mayor. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the romance between these two unfold and all of the relationships around them flourish. I always look forward to another Good Hope book!

It was great to be back in Good Hope. This book focuses on Greer Chapin and Wyatt McConnell. Greer is from an established Good Hope family and Wyatt is the newcomer who has taken over his grandfather's cherry orchard. As rivals for the mayor post, we see friendship and love develop for this couple. It was great to see the matchmakers, Ruby, Katherine and Gladys back in business, now with the help of Oaklee, Pastor Dan's sister. Because Greer is now related to the Bloom's (her mom married their father), we are able to also see what is happening in their lives also. As new characters are introduced and reshowcased, like Ryder the owner of the Daily Grind and Trinity, Wyatt's sister, we can only root for their happy endings also.

Sparks Fly is a great book in the Good Hope series. Greer and Wyatt got their happy ending and it was awe-inspiring to see the mayor rivals work together.

When I began reading this story by one of my favorite authors and set in one of my favorite fictional towns, I was a little surprised that I didn't know very much about the primary female character.  I wasn't sure if it would hold my interest enough, but as always, I was pleasantly surprised.  Sparks Fly in Good Hope takes two adversaries and turns them into an unlikely pair.  Greer reminded me a lot of Eliza, another resident of Good Hope, because she is very driven and career minded, but has a warm side that isn't often seen.

The new man in town, Wyatt, doesn't start off on the right foot with Greer, but eventually his kindness wins everyone over. He is quickly ensconced into the town and finds a welcoming home.

The story moves along at a quick pace and it never felt slow or boring. New characters were introduced which definitely made me wonder if we will be hearing more about their stories in the future.

As always, I enjoyed my latest visit to Good Hope.

I always enjoy reading the Good Hope Series. I look forward to who we will learn about next and how their relationship will progress. In this 10th book, we learn about Greer Chapin. She is more of a serious, matter of fact woman and doesn’t always seem to be well liked by the community. We find that she is running for mayor of the town and is unnopposed. Until Wyatt comes in to the picture. He inherited his grandfather’s cherry or hard and decides to stay in Good Hope to run, and grow the business. He also, after hearing some incorrect information, decides to run for mayor as well.

The process of Greer and Wyatt getting together is easier than expectd. However, unlike some of the other characters in the past, Greer doesn’t have as much that she seems to be hiding from. She is learning more about herself based on taking over her father’s bank. She learns what she neds to do in order to become a better, more approachable person. In the end, everything comes together nicely.

Oh how I love the Good Hope series. It’s like returning home to a sweet town filled with good-hearted people and lots of love.
There are many connections in the circles of this small-town and the new character of this series learns that quickly when he moves into town to inherit his grandfather’s cherry farm. Wyatt has overcome some rough times during his life and he uses this to help guide him in his involvements in his new town. Greer, a long-time resident of Good Hope, is tough on the outside, and strong-willed as well. As she and Wyatt come head to head on some issues, they find they aren’t so different after all. Both are intelligent and have good hearts.
Ms. Kirk leads us through moments of conflict, caring, and love in another heartwarming journey through Good Hope.

Cindy has a way to make Good Hope a place that I would love to retire to. This story is about Wyatt and Greer. She is running for Mayor of Good Hope and who decides to show up and ruin it all by giving her an opponent, Wyatt who is now a landowner. Wyatt and her get off on the wrong foot at the beginning, but thanks to Gladys and Oaklee, they some how manage to get them to see that they are made for each other, but will the race to the Mayor’s office ruin a beautiful relationship before it hits the grown running. They have their ups and downs throughout the story as there are some that do not like Greer as she is also the bank owner and has refused several loans to some that will end up in bankruptcy. In the end as always, it ends with the right person for the job as Mayor and a loving relationship.
