What an awesome fantasy story. Dragons have been calling riders for a long time. You get so lost in the story that you don’t want it to end. Ready for another by this outstanding writer.

Summary: Dima thinks she is going crazy. She keeps hearing a voice in her head and seeing images of Drakken Peak where the Dragons are. Now there are dragons, but the only people who are called by the dragons are Nobles and Dima is a peasant. No one has ever heard of peasant being called before Dima giving others a hope where there has been none. The first danger is surviving Drakken Peak to prove you are worthy to attend the academy, but things are not what they seem. Dima is forced to save Raff when he is taken by a dragon and in the process her dragon finds her. Before they arrive, they meets Arlen a noble who doesn’t quite believe that a peasant received the call. Dima quickly learns that many are not happy she is here, especially her Lord who is determined that his daughter will will the Dragon Games at any cost.
There are many twists with hep form the most unexpected sources. The division of the people was easily seen when the servants appear almost a ghosts and the nobles would never stoop themselves to even talking to them. This is something that Dima can’t understand or accept giving her allies that the others would never imagine. I will be waiting to see what happens next in The Legion Academy series.
Ok Dragon Book. I liked Dragons of Elantia a bit more. This is a book you would want to read if you like stories about dragon riders.

I am rapidly falling in love with Marisa Claire’s writing style. In a lower-class stall chopping mildly toxic tubers for a stew, Dima receives the Call of a dragon. Of course she doesn’t believe it, nor does the overseer or his wife. But her mother believes, and Dima and her “brother” Raff are badgered into making the trek up a mountain to claim her position as a Legionnaire.
What she finds is a training ground of the privileged, and she doesn’t belong. Why don’t more peasants get called? After all, they have resourcefulness and endurance. However, the academy is filled with noble children. At the academy for the Legion, her new maid warns her that she will attend balls and feasts in honor of the survivors. Survivors? Urp! They have trials to pass, and the nobles bet on the winners. I can already see that merit is not the only means to winning.
The story seems short, but maybe that is because I couldn’t stop reading. It is fun, but gritty.
Rated PG, but expect violence and twisted attempts at murder. The romance is understated and slow burn. Who doesn’t love a poor girl rich boy romance?
I enjoyed this first book in a new series. Overall I liked the main character, Dima. She can be a little rough at times, but she means well, and she has a big heart. The book seemed to go very quickly for me. I felt like it was a little bit too short, maybe because it felt like everything stopped in an odd place.
I think the series has a lot of potential. I did find myself thinking that it could've used a little more polish. Also, I'm hoping the typos in the review copy have been fixed by now.
This was a good start. It would be great to see continued character development in the next book, as well as a deeper relationship between dragon and rider.
I enjoyed this story and its uncommon depiction of the relationship between Dragon and rider... There is plenty of room for improvement in the description of action sequences. They read with a ponderous and heavy tone. There is a lot of improvement that can be done with the interaction between rider and Dragon... The lack of communication and lack of ATTEMPT to do so, detracts from the image of a caring heroine. It was still well written and I look forward to the next installment.
I received a copy of this book at no cost to the author. The book is well written. It’s a different take on the differences between rich and poor. Dima has had the call from the dragons even though she is but a peasant. Through the first book, she is challenged by what she thought she knew and what is truth. There always seems to be a mean girl in life well Dima has found hers. This book does have a cliffhanger ending.
I did enjoy this book. At first I was skeptical but as the story went on I found myself enjoying it more and more. I hope the series continues and keeps getting better.
I loved the cover ! Then I got a sample . Then I got it on KU . Then I started reading it . Now I'm going to buy it !! I couldn't stop reading until the very end !! I'm waiting for the next book in this series so , so patiently ! Very good read !
Not bad, but could use some heavy workshopping. The world was interesting and I liked the unique relationship between dragon and rider, but the story needed more worldbuilding.
