Anna Dewdney was an award-winning children's-book author, illustrator, teacher, mother, and enthusiastic proponent of literacy and reading aloud to children. She was the author of the bestselling Llama Llama Red Pajama series of picturebooks, among many others. She lived with her partner Reed Duncan in Vermont where she worked, gardened, and spent time with her daughters and dogs.
The book is really cute and sweet. My baby loved the mirror. I want to know if anyone noticed that they showed “door” at one side of the page and asked to open a “drawer” on the other side. When they asked “inside the box” they opened the box and when they wanted to check under the spread they checked under the spread then why did they confuse between door and drawer. Am I the only one who think that there was some sort of confusion here

Every time I read one of these and think "the rhythm's not as good as usual," it turns out it was published posthumously with a ghost writer. I didn't think I was so finely attuned to authorial voice in board books, but there you go.
Language quibbles aside, this is a cute flap book!
This is a hardboard children's book that has flaps that can be flipped up as Llama searches for his stuffed toy. This is the kind of book that can entertain a young reader. Colorful illustrations show the various places where Llama goes while searching. A god book for what I call "lap reading" where a parent sits with a child in their lap and goes through the book with them, reading the story and letting their child lift the flaps to reveal where the toy has been hidden.
There is a surprise at the end as well that will entertain a child.
We have read this book so many times I had to glue the flaps back down. I believe we received this from Dolly's Imagination Library program. It is one of our absolute favorites. I can recite from memory and my two year old can too. We love that it has cute hide and seek opportunities to look for Llama and toys!
I liked this because my daughter loves llama llama (pronounced, mama mama), but the hide and seek was eh. It's a beautiful book, but I was expecting more searching (like in where's spot?).
But the last page is sweet, particularly because my daughter's awed reaction was priceless. :)
This book was a gift from a friend and I loved it the moment I saw it. I'm a special education teacher and have been reading it to one of my students who is considered non-verbal. It is a joy to see her interact with the book.
(4☆ Would reccomend) Great book to get kids to engage with books. It is interactive and has tactile aspect as well. There is a simple storyline, which is great for littles. And it does encompass rhyme to help with learning and engagement.
Dolly hooked up us with this one and it might be my favorite one we’ve gotten so far. E really enjoyed it too. Llama can’t find his fuzzy toy so you get to search through the book for it and look under flaps. What’s not to love.
