Did Not Finish
June 7, 2026Just a few pages in, I noticed that many of the examples looked familiar. I’d already seen them in The Acrylics and Gouache Artist's Handbook: A Practical Guide to Acrylics and Gouache Painting for the Home Artist. Though the two books weren’t identical, there was enough overlap that I decided not to pursue what felt more than a little like a re-read.

Good basic book for using acrylic paints. Pages and pages giving examples of various techniques.

Good for very traditional landscape and still life painting, especially if you like at least some level of abstract. Not a lot for more realistic paintings or modern ideas.

This wasn't really a book read as it was for a family member to read, but I just perused it to see some of the techniques provided. Rather fascinating.

Nice book with definitions associated with acrylic painting. I would liked to have seen a bit more illustration and beginner friendly terms. I didn't always follow the illustration and the commentary that went with it.
