Wild Women of a Certain Age

Rate this book
From social and political issues to found poems, Gibson’s fresh, evocative (and sometimes provocative) writing is both modern and timeless.
These poems spring from taxis, supermarkets and long car drives through the wind and rain. They spring from fantasies, daydreams, nightmares, from love and hate, but, above all, they exalt and enhance everyday experiences.

Got this as part of a reading challenge. I love it. The hilarious turn of phrase and beautifully honest imagery made this a fantastic read.

What a joy to read this. Sure it’s full of sorrows and rages and angers that hit deeply but for me the joy and cheekiness and humour shines through it all. Will read this many times

I don't know if I'm wild, but I'm definitely of a certain age. Magi redefines perceptions of what it means to be a woman who has survived the three ages of what has 'his'torically been know as maiden, mother and crone, and lived to tell the tale. She encapsulates the emotional intelligence it takes just to BE a woman and what it means to come of age in a world where you are expected to be good but not too good, in other words, to know your place. Ever been told it's just your hormones talking? Then this book is for you.

Got this as a birthday present for my fortieth. Great prezzie to get. Intelligent poetry I could read and understand. And it made me laugh. Maybe forty's not the end.
