Why was it so difficult finding an English version of this volume 😂

Probably my least favourite of the series so far but still a fun read. I think my issues stem from over reliance on cheap anime tropes. The romance with Aoi is very superficial and only exists because the narrative demands it. We kind of reach the stale monotonous period of school military esque mangas that go through a whole impostor liar revealed trope which I do not care for and wasn't handled all that well here. Also Kurosame's characterisation is slightly off here, he's more erratic and emotion driven compared to his cool and detached demeanor before, the volume doesn't really highlight a significant intentional change he just kind of starts acting like this for the whole volume. Also I didn't appreciate how lacking the other 3 members of the four champions are in here especially since they're the main characters. Also once again another trope I get tired of is the whole protagonist going berserk and one shotting everyone to make them seem edgier.

What I did appreciate was once again the amazing artwork which was dialled to an 11 here with the Magitek designs. The art alone makes up for 3 whole stars. I also appreciate how the narrative is slowly melding into type 0 lore/storylines. We get to see Loricans, the Millitesi empire is at the forefront now and also a Qator Bashtar cameo which was appreciated.

3.5 General review for the series (no spoilers). I didn't play this game, but I am a Final Fantasy fan and appreciated seeing the characters, tropes, magic, beasts, etc that define this series represented in what amounts to a story of friendship and betrayal with a very Final Fantasy based plot. The pacing comes and goes, but this spin off is far better than the stand alone manga. I was invested enough to continue reading and to see what kind of spin this story would take - esp since I know nothing about the Type-0 game.
