Poetry isn't really my thing and I have no clue how to rate it. This was neat watching the poems grow from angstier younger thoughts to more refined; the author's note was very helpful!
The amount of words I had to look up was embarrassingly high, but I learned something!
Donau was a favorite.
Ensnared! Loved it.
Exoskeleton - hooray for bugs
Nerves & Skin - love the attention to tiny details and sensations
Skinner Box - yes
You and I - aww, I think?
Very thorough and detailed thoughts, I know.

"Perhaps the most shocking realization is that something as immense as death can come in something as small as a bullet, or a cyanide tablet, or a dust mote. These innocuous and terribly terminal objects laze about us, humming and content with their unused potential."

Beautiful and personal book of poetry. I really enjoyed reading. Love the cover too. Clinton is a fantastic writer and I'm now a fan after reading his poetry.

"I've got to feel lost again, to sin or get sick..."
More 4.5/5 stars.
I bought this humble collection of poems a few years back at PRIDE and wanted to support this local author. Plus, the cover was wonderfully creepy. This mismatch of poems isn't structured in any way besides alphabetically, but it surprised me in how good and unique the language felt. The titles are all interesting. Vivisection is a promising collection, I look forward to reading more from them. (So, yes, I did find something to enjoy)

I cannot fully explain it, but something in the poems resonate so deeply with me; some even moving me to tears. It makes me long to know the author more.
"Finally I will be
hollow
and horribly content."
