Thrown into a conflict beyond the scope of anything Bye-bye ever imagined, he will be tested in ways he never imaged. Whether that means stopping a war or just taking the girl he likes on a date, he certainly has his work cut out for him. Tensions are rising and if Bye-bye and his friends can’t put a stop to a brewing war, Anvilton and Hammerton might just destroy each other. That is, if the other adventurers don’t destroy them first. With the odds stacked against them, will Bye-bye and his friends survive the Mountain Valley War? Or will the flames of war consume them, leaving nothing but ash in their wake?
Greetings and salutations! I am M.A. Carlson, author of three series, all available now. Check where my writing journey began with World Tree Online: The Curse of Hurlig Ridge, The Duchess of Hammers, The Mountain Valley War, The Endless Savanna, the Order of Epic Grinders. My second series is Planet Hero: Civilian and Sidekick. And I just released my newest novel and third series, The Devil's Game: Purgatory. I hope you enjoy the adventure and the fantastic journey that is the World Tree Online, Planet Hero, and The Devil's Game.
More about me, I love writing. I love being entertained by a good story. I wrote my first original novel a few years ago now and I can't see myself stopping writing any time soon, it's what I plan to do for the rest of my life. I am very happy to be able to share what I hope others will find as much fun to read I did to write.
We read the paperback when it came out and love the series so much we just finished listening to the audiobook as well. Can’t get enough of this fun and rewarding adventure. I’m dying to know how the cliff hanger evolves but also eager for the phases of character development and twists in the ways old details resurface. Carlson has created a well woven world with unlimited potential. Psssst- Netflix, this would make an incredible show! Guess I’ll spend the time waiting for book 4 by imagining who should be cast as the main characters.
I still like the series. It continues to entertain. The characters are becoming more rounded and complex. The relationships are interesting and have dynamic.
I'm just kind of disappointed that its taken the turn that it has. It feels like it's falling into that litRPG trope where the main character is super special for whatever reason instead of letting the character's in game adventures and specific talents shine. I'll keep reading to see where this leads but I dont hold high expectations.
This is my 2nd favourite series in LitRpg genre. The few things which could make it better are, 1). Book Cover are below average. 2). Stop Bombarding with all the Skills and Sub-Skill for pages, I know you must be thinking this is how Jacko sees in HUD, But I dont care. Just show us only the skill or (not and) sub skill. That would be enough for us. 3). AND CAN YOU PUBLISH EACH BOOK IN 45 DAYS. (LOL)
Still loving the story ,mind you this was the weakest book so far, the auther is still developing the characters and bye bye and Heath are epic , Olaf is steady and reliable , Micaela is a shaman and clueless about what that involves , Rose just doesn't fit the profile of a damage dealer and baby is annoying , the new members of the team seem interesting. I really hate it when powers behind the scenes become involved so the next book is an unknown quantity.
This series was already moving from good to great and this book did not disappoint. The epilogue though spiced things up even further: some questions answered, the primary? antagonist revealed, and a new twist right at the end opens up the storyline to a much wider range than it had before. I am really looking forward to the next book!
When the writer decided to have the characters become floor mats that stopped thinking. I felt betrayed. Add in a very cliche, worn out twist and that ruins the book. If the next in the series is more of the same then I am done with it.
Absolutely fantastic story! I love the mix of slice of life with the action. It never gets grind, and always interesting. The ending is fantastic, can't wait for the next!!
Such an amazing series of books, this book keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout, and I can’t believe what a cliffhanger! My god I’m still hanging of it. Please author get writing fast I need the next book now! :D
Bah! I can't believe I overlooked this book for a whole month. I really need a better way to track new releases.
This book like it's predecessors was absolutely awesome. Carlson is really ticking all the right LitRPG boxes for me time and again. So looking forward to the next.
Tons to love with those series. So far one of my favorite litrpg series. If you read a lot of series like I do, you should pick this one up. Definitely worth it.
This is honestly one of the best series in the genre. It is on par with all of the other top hits in the genre and better in a lot of aspects give it a try and you will not regret it!
While not a fan of siege campaigns it was an amazing read. Great characters real stakes and some great surprises. I just regret how long it will be until the next one
somehow couldn't connect with the story and characters anymore. As much as i liked the books before here I had to stop at 40% because i couldn't get myself to care about the characters anymore.

Enjoyed the book!!! Carlson did an amazing job like he has done in his previous works. I really enjoyed the twists at the end. I’m curious on how the next book will go with Bye-Bye and co.. I am especially curious on how Carlson will get all of Bye-Bye’s friends to continue playing besides having them all be affected by Epic’s human modifications. By the way, how will that even work with Baby? Cannot wait for the next book to come out!!!!!!!
