I adore Addison Kline and her books and this series has been one of my favourites.

This book is Randy and Cheyenne story and wow, what a story it is, I'm so glad Addison decided to give them a story of their own. Their deserve it so much!

Cheyenne and Randy's journey was a heartbreaking one and at times I wanted to bang both their heads together, I don't want to give too much away but trust me you will enjoy this book so much.

You don't have to have read the 1st two but it helps as previous characters make a come back and it will you understand it better.

This book was good but it should have been broken into two novellas, the first one should have been read after book 1, and then halfway through is Randy and Cheyenne's POV of what happened in Book 2 along with a continuation of the story from book 2 so this part could have been a novella to read after book 2.
I felt reading about their young love made me so sad. I don't always like to read the background of a couple after already reading about so many troubled times between them, and then reading their HEA. I would have rather read this part before book 2 (The Broken Road) because then I would have known more about Trent, how Cheyenne was when they first met, what broke her, how Randy was before he was devastated, and his heart was broken. The main things I did like were that I got to read a little about Cheyenne's father, what a shame he was taken from her, I think everything would have been different for her if it wasn't for him dying, I liked reading about Randy and her starting to build a life too. Then almost half way through the book there was a huge shocker that explains so much, and then what happens after, wow, Trent is one sick person, I still feel I would have liked to read this part of the book before book 2. After this was their POV's I loved reading what was going through Randy and Cheyenne's mind during this turbulent time.
The biggest issue I had with this book, and the reason I gave 4 stars was that there were too many parts in this book that I had already read about in Broken Roads, like the night Randy saw Colt and Averi kissing for the first time, Cheyenne's mother going to the hospital, Randy confronting her step-father, Cheyenne letting Trent intimidate her and the whole scene of him drugging her in his room, Averi talking to Randy about Cheyenne's call, Randy going after Cheyenne, her escaping from Trent just to be chased down, the confrontation at Colt's gym, Cheyenne reaching out to Randy again but him in jail, being taken back to the Devil's headquarters to be questioned, The Devils heading out to confront Colt, Randy, Tim, and get Averi, the boys being released from jail, Randy saving Cheyenne and taking her for help, so I found myself skipping past these parts, not needing to reread them.
Then at 89% I was thrilled because I got to read about something brand new, it was fantastic, I loved it, what they did for Randy's birthday was hilarious, I love Averi and her relationship with Randy, the rest of the book was just perfect, and this quote says it all "Every chance we had was shattered...only to allow us to build something more beautiful."

"My name is Cheyenne West, and my heart belongs to one man. Say what you will about the road we've traveled...it’s real. It's raw. It's not a god d@mn fairytale...." Shattered Chances is a companion novella from Addison Kline’s Breaking Black series. During the second book in the series you meet Cheyenne and know that her and Randy have a past, this is where you learn all the nitty gritty dirty sordid details of their past. And then there is Tent, you remember him from books 1 and 2? You learn a lot about him as well and his dirty tricks. He went after Cheyenne; he keeps praying on her during her weakest moments. Trent and Stephanie (another student) make up numerous rumors about Trent and Cheyenne making out and cheating on randy behind his back...only it never happened. Then one night the worst thing possible happens to Cheyenne, Randy can't find her anywhere she won’t answer his calls or text. She only went outside for a quick smoke so why isn’t she responding?! Randy still doesn’t know what happened that night but he does know it was horrible and gives Cheyenne nightmares and she’s now addicted to heroin. One of the many drugs she would never willingly do because of her abuse past with her mother and many step fathers. After struggling to get clean and stay clean over the past 6 years can Cheyenne prove her strength and admit to it all out loud? Can Randy forgive Cheyenne for what he thinks happened 6 yrs. ago?? Is everything he thought he saw and knew the truth or just an assumption? After all the time and space can Cheyenne finally admit to Randy what happened all those years ago or will it still be too hard for her to face...Will Trent survive one Randy knows the truth of what he did to Cheyenne, more than once, and the reason for the 6 yr. gap before Randy would listen to anything Cheyenne had to say...or is it too late for all of it? Has too much time passed for old wounds to heal. I give this book at 4 out of 5. It was well written and gives you a lot of the character’s back ground information.

When I started with book I though for myself: "Just another poor girl in an unhealthy relationship who can't let go."
How WRONG was I. It's not the relationship that is unhealthy in this book. The relationship is pretty good until the non-return point. It's all the rest that's unhealthy.
I enjoyed the first part of the book. The teen years where hard but pretty sweet and the characters seemed smart enough. But the second part of the book lost me.
I think I have trouble with irrational characters.
My philosophy is that if something is bad for you, it has nothing to do in your life. Then the heroine manage to leave but still comes back and at that moment she can give me all the reasons she has to come back I'm sorry but that didn't work for me. And the place to where she goes back to, it's not your every day shit, it's down right hell.
There are so much a human being can take but there are also so much a reader can take. That couple was really awesome even if on the dark side of awesome but they truly love each other. When you have that and people around are here to kill you, you just leave, leave the state, leave the country and don't come back.

Another thing that bugged the hell out of me was the constant miss use of pronouns. I'm not hardcore on grammar and I won't mention little mistakes but this was bad enough to go from a first person POV to a third person POV and I was "Who the hell is she talking about."
Not to mention that there are normally two POV in the book, both in first person and labeled nicely with the name of the character whose head your in. Well sometimes there was still some head hoping and characters saying things they couldn't know. Of course the reader knew it all already in most case but it was just plain weird for me.

All in all it was a nice book and I just wished the editing had been done a bit better because the characters were really sweet to spend time with.

RANDY...OH MY

This is Randy and Cheyenne's story from Black Horse and Broken Road of the Breaking Black series.

Randy and Cheyenne fell in love in high school. During that time, Cheyenne last her dad. Seeing as how close they were, Cheyenne felt as if she had lost her world. Cheyenne never would have imagined that life was only about to get worse.

Cheyenne was called out of class and into the school principal's office to find out her dad had passed away. Only her mom wasn't there to give her the news of her father. Cheyenne bolted from the school and went straight home. After having already lost her brother, she couldn't imagine how this was going to affect her mom only to find out that her mom left her high and dry.

Randy talked his Uncle into letting her stay with Randy and his grandparents. Randy thought life couldn't get any better from there. After a week or two Cheyenne's mom returned home to get Cheyenne, with a new man in tow. She made Cheyenne come home. That relationship didn't last long, then there was another man and then another. This time Cheyenne got to meet her step-father. They clicked like fire and water.

Cheyenne was beat on continual basis . Her mom never took up for her. She was too busy staying strung out on drugs, thanks to her step-father.

Randy couldn't handle it when he saw bruises all over Cheyenne's body. What was he going to do, he was only a kid in high school and her step-father was a member of the notorious motorcycle unknown as the Seven Devils.

This is where the story of true love comes in. Their love gets put to the test.

Can they make it or does her new life of drugs and violence prevail? Haha, now you're gonna have to read it and find out. You're of getting out of me.

Having read about Randy and Cheyenne already in the series I was happy to finally get the full story of them. Their POV's , their retelling of how an amazing high school love could go so very very wrong. What I love the most about this story is that it spans over years , nothing fast moving about it. You get the story of their past , of their times apart and of their final chance to right their wrongs. Cheyenne may be the one who went off the deep end BUT Randy made his fair share of mistakes. Being that I read books 1 & 2 so long ago this was nice because there was some overlap and I did get to almost re-read some of the major moments of Averi , Colt and the family. There may be some triggers in this story - those with issues reading about addiction , sexual and mental abuse may be warned this can be a tough read at times.

Randy and Cheyenne's journey started when they were teens and it was never easy. Cheyenne suffered a major loss right after meeting Randy and her home life only went downhill from there. Her mother and stepdad were horrible people and because of them Randy and Chey suffered years of torment. Cheyenne suffered the worst at their hands and those of the town drug pusher Trent. Due to her inability to trust anyone Chey never confided in Randy about what REALLY happened and because of that things were assumed and hearts were damaged. It is heartbreaking to be on the outside looking in , to hear them both pleading but not being able to help them. Can Randy and Cheyenne find their way back to one another , can they forgive and/or forget , can they start over and finally have the life they dreamed of years and years ago ?? Hang on for the ride and know it is not an easy one.

In this Breaking Black story, we're meeting Cheyenne and Randy. We met Randy and Tim in Breaking Black #2, but this is Randy's story. I am so happy! What stupid thing does Randy do that has Cheyenne on the run? Reading about how Cheyenne and Randy met was a blast! I never would have guessed that! We know Randy's family's story about Black Horse killing his parents and older brother. What is the story for Cheyenne? What brought her to their little town from Omaha, NE? Oh goodness, Addison Kline really goes old school on us in this one with AOL and "You've Got Mail." and AOL Instant Messenger and chat rooms. Wow. Talk about a blast from the past! What happens to Cheyenne's father while she is at school? What happens when Randy is picked up by his Uncle? Seeing how Randy stood by Cheyenne during her worst possible moment makes me wonder how things went pear shaped at the beginning of the book for them. Trust should have been something she has for Randy. When Cheyenne's mother takes off and comes back, going through one husband after the other, what happens to Cheyenne? The hell that Cheyenne has been thrust into has me ready to cry for her. I thought Randy had a tough home life, it doesn't even compare to what Cheyenne goes through with her newest step-father. The snippets that we saw in the last book of Trent and his treatment of Cheyenne and what happened between her and Randy and then her and Trent are seen head on in this book. This is a dark book to read, be prepared. It really told a story of Cheyenne's life.

I really enjoy a story that spans decades of a relationship and this story is just that.
This is the third book in the series but I feel it could be read as a standalone.
You certainly get a lot of angst and misunderstood communication in this story. There are a few sensitive subjects broached and a lot of wasted years due to both of their stubborn behaviour.
Cheyenne and Randy fall in love in high school; it's an all-consuming love that is also volatile. Cheyenne's Dad dies and that leaves her in the care of her 'delicate' Mother, if you can call her a Mother!
Randy tries hard to protect her but they are too young for him to really help at home where she is under the care of her new step Dad! He is a vile abusive man. Things are never straightforward for this couple and they are hindered by Trent's obsession with Cheyenne; he went to the same school and has a bad reputation.
So much goes on to split Cheyenne and Randy up over the course of ten or more years and the MC Seventy Devils are a blight on the lives of the whole town but specifically on Cheyenne and Randy’s lives, they were in the previous books and the reason for their grudge is explained in both books.

I enjoyed the story and the only thing to stop me giving that extra star is that I was often rolling my eyes at the stubbornness of both of them, it drove me mad. I just wanted them to make more of an effort and sort things out.

My first time reading anything by Addison Kline. I loved this book! I have Black Horse which i still have to read and i am definitely going to read because of my experience with this book! It has a great reading flow, awesome fight scenes, gives some insight to the realities of the drug world that some many have been sucked into and why, overall i just loved this book! There are three things i do with books i read:

1. read it and like it and put in under the collection READ.
2. read it and love it and give the author their own collection so i can read more from them
3. read a chapter or two, say what is this crap and delete.

Addison has her own collection in my kindle now! Girl your awesome!

**Note*

Not realizing that this was a book that had two before it and I should have read them first, I am still sticking with this review. Though I would recommend reading the first two because there are some parts of the book that seemed sped up and now i know why lol. Though it could be read as a stand alone in my opinion, Addison wrote this so well that you will not feel like your missing something. The first two books are:

Black Horse
Broken Road

I love this book. I can't brag about this series enough!!! I really enjoyed getting to see the point of view from both Randy & Cheyenne. This one does jump from Randy view to Cheyenne's. Amazingly told story to see the way these two started and then what lead to their heart break. You feel like you are standing right there watching things unfold in front of you. These two are very strong and love hard. You are pulled between the two not knowing what way you want to say ok he or she is right. You stay on the fence for so long with this one that you're never sure if you’re going to get off. If you love a book that grabs you and refuse to let you go you have found it, the whole series is this way. Amazing!!!

Well done Addison!!

Cheyenne and Randy were High school lovers, Randy planned and purposing. Until he finds Cheyenne calling out another man’s name in her sleep, Trent. What Randy does not know is the hell Randy has put Cheyenne through. When Cheyenne returns to town seven years later and finds Randy and his “family” in the restaurant where she works the truth comes out, however she is still not safe as Trent still lives in the town and is a member of the Seventy Devils, who are out to get Randy and his family to avenge the death of their leader Black Horse.
Can love overcome all and can Cheyenne and Randy rekindle their love, or will Trent win again. It is a race to protect the Ford/McClain family in another grip book by Mrs. Kline. I highly recommend you read the other books before this one.

Cheyenne and Randy's story is an emotional rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. They fell for each other as teenagers and are inseparable growing closer by the moment. Then something happens to tear them apart and she runs. Hated that so much. Of course there are some serious bumps (more like mountains) they have along the way back to each other. I loved that Randy was there for her through something so devastating. My heart broke for all that she had gone through. Even more so than all that Randy went through which was a hell of a lot. I loved these two together. They so deserved to find their happily ever after with the nightmare they made it through. I so enjoyed their story and can't wait to read more of this series.

I give Shattered Chances 5 hearts!

I love this book. I have waited for this book ever since I read the first two books. I wanted to understand why Randy was so angry and why Cheyenne's name or seeing her made him even worse. I knew there was a story there and oh what a story it was. Their relationship was such a roller coaster ride with it ups an downs and twist an turns, I never thought it would turn out that they would end up on a even kill so to speak and have a future together. I highly recommend this book. You will want to read them in order to truly enjoy this series. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is Randy and Cheyenne's story. Now we see how it all started and why Randy and Cheyenne are they way that they are after the break up.

Trent played a big part in breaking them up and keeping them apart. Cheyenne got dealt a bad hand when her father was killed. She did not have a support system like Randy, Tim and Averi had after their parents and brother were killed.

Randy although out there, also loves hard. He protects those he loves and it shows in his actions. Cheyenne is the same way. This is their love story with the ups and downs.

Please check out my full 4 star review right here,
http://trinastantilisingtidbits.blogs...

This was like the others, it was unbputdownable, and a great look into the relationship of Randy and Cheyanne.

Although short, it filled in gaps and answered questions that you may have wondered about during the first books.

I do look forward to reading more in this series and like the others I score this book a 4 star.

I am glad we got a book to see why Randy and Cheyenne broke up and what their relationship was like, I liked reading from both POVs. What I did not like was how it was a repetitive repeat from the previous books. So I just skimmed through most of it since I had already read it. Don't get me wrong I love Addisons work, but this just did not do it for me like the previous books. I still gave it a 3* rating because I love this series.

I was not crazy about this at all. randy and Cheyenne are high school sweethearts that have gone through a lot. I was so disappointed that Cheyenne didn't trust Randy with the truth about a terrible incident. This lack of trust leads to so much pain for the both of them. It was really hard for me to take.

This is the 3rd, well 2.5 of the Black Horse series and again, its another can't put down. This is Randy and Cheyenne's story from their points of view. From the day they met, they had a kindred spirit relationship. That is until Trent and the gang got in the way. Follow their ups and downs, the hidden secrets that parted them, and see Randy as he truely is, a badassed teddy bear.

This is the story of Randy and Cheyenne. While you get the overview of their story in Broken Road , this is their past and their future. All the wonderful, good, bad, and tragic details that brought them to where they are. All the broken pieces put back together to make a new and vibrant start!

Honestly, this book is very repetitive of broken road. On top of that it is poorly edited and that made it hard to follow. It was great to read when Randy and Cheyenne broke up. Otherwise I was rather disappointed with this book.

As with the rest of this series, I loved every minute of it. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I kept wanting to throw my kindle I don't know how many different times because of what was going on. Randy has a temper like you wouldn't believe but I sure would want him on my side when things got down and dirty. He never really gave up on his girl and that shows you the kind of man he is. He helped Cheyenne through all the rough times in her life. I can't wait to see what else happens :)

This is a must read series and Addison knows how to keep us hooked.
