The Gods are rising! When Elaria released the God Darcraxis from his prison, a shock wave of magic rippled through the realms and woke other imprisoned gods. Now, she must find those gods and settle them back into stasis before they can rise and threaten all of existence. But the Gods have been enticing Beneathers to help them by promising power and magic, and the Spellsinger's blood happens to be one of the few things that can free the Gods. With so much at stake, loyalties blur, and it becomes difficult to tell friend from foe. As Elaria races from planet to planet, her enemies close in, and the Aria of the Gods threatens to become a song she will never finish.

Her books have been translated into several languages, have won numerous awards, and are bestsellers. She believes in empowering women through her writing as well as providing everyone with a great escape from reality. Her stories are full of strong women and hot gods, shapeshifters, vampires, dragons, fairies, gargoyles... pretty much any type of supernatural, breathtakingly gorgeous man you can think of. Because why have normal when you could have paranormal? Born and raised in Hawaii, Amy made a perilous journey across the ocean with six cats to settle in the beautiful state of Oregon which reminds her a lot of Hawaii but without the cockroaches or evil sand. When she isn't trying to type fast enough to get down everything the voices in her head are saying while her kitties try to sabotage her with cuteness, she enjoys painting on canvases, walls, and anything else that will sit still long enough for the paint to dry. She prefers antiques to modern furniture, tea to coffee, night to day, and Tom Hardy to Tom Hiddleston. No; Tom Hiddleston to Tom Hardy. No, wait... Tom Hardy and Tom Hiddleston to Tom Cruise. Part really good, part I’m really tired of this poo.
For me the first part I’d this story is is really good. Second part sadly sinking into the usual ( almost a trope I think) of the h’s hubris crossed w/ a potent cocktail of naïveté and ego and sheer stupidity. Though the heroines often look to others fir help, they still seem to think at the end of the day,no one really knows anything but them. That combined w/this weird rape like culture that really works a nerve fo me. Does El get raped ? Noooooo, but her will is subverted and her ability to to say know and even think for herself at times. I’m soo baffled about this BS. We’re given these supposedly “strong /intelligent” women who repeatedly let their own seemingly good sense be diverted by petty agreements or attitudes and either allow themselves to be lead or talked dangerous or foolish situations and be used and or abused. All the while making excuses and throwing around unearned “forgiveness “ like rice at a wedding. There’s this twisted theme in all of Ms.Sumida’s stories I just don’t get. 1. None of these heroines ever get to choose to be in a RH. For some reason it ALWAYS ,always has to be forced upon them . Except in the retelling of classic tales. Usually they get to choose but h’s in the series no. So there’s this warped sense of guilt the the h needs or wants all these men. There’s this sense often that she owes them an apology for loving so many or needing them or something. The sense of guilt is there and sadly affects too many actions and reactions and interactions . It’s always there in the background ready to color a scene . Especially when yet another man is threatening to try and join or interrupt the group at hand. Like here an angel ,Raphael who has been nothing in the last eight books is suddenly being used to throw everyone off their game and help the h be taken and of hijacked/kidnapped yet again. 2. Then there’s the whole taking or kidnapping of her to put her into sexual situations where usually her free will is taken as well and things are done to her ,usually against her will but sadly as always she quickly starts to reason and make excuses for their actions . And Stockholm syndrome seems to quickly in. And then even when he’s forcing himself on her and forcing her to betray her lovers ,some form of insane sympathy is warped and found. The h has usually done some bad or seemingly evil deed that’s twisted and turned until, what’s being done to her isn’t soo bad. Dear lord, often the h will be taken and other “affections” are forced on her but instead of the violated heroine wanting justice or at least her pound of flesh, almost saying she’s sorry to him and sorry she has to leave him now. I exaggerate some but I’m damn close. El is taken and kept Abe used and manipulated constantly, touched sexually and her mind messed over, but it’s ok. He has an evil part of him and hey I was once evil too. Soo see it’s ok. Dear gods it all soo warped and twisted. End of the day,it’s ok,she was taken abs used and messed over, the devil made him do it. F that girl! You need therapy! And maybe I do too for reading your adventures.
This book was really good. And I’m so excited for the next one. I gotta say that Raphael and Lucifer hold a special place for me. Hoping for a Toby moment in this book. Fingers crossed
Amazing like all the other books before it!!! I can’t get enough of this series. I read the books with the music playing in the back ground. Amazing and I can’t wait for the next book!!!
