Another wonderful addition to the very popular, Wonder Cats Mystery series. This time the threat comes from within the Greenstone's neighborhood and even Bea becomes infected. As if that wasn't enough, Cath's policeman boyfriend, Tom is shot while on duty and his mother is doing some wicked things in the background. This is a must read!

You know what? I thought I was going to be happy to jump back into this world for the last two books of this series, but I have not been enjoying this.

And all because I really don’t like Cath, my problem with her is that she’s 1 spineless, 2 extremely dumb and 1 so passive.

Starting with 2 dumb. And I want to make this very clear that I am talking about how she has a brain that is slow, painfully slow. She is the type of person that wouldn’t know how to take the water out of a boot with the instructions written on the heel.

She meets Mrs Kitt. Mrs Kitt is normal. The next day she acts very weird, and then she gets worse. She is always going to the neighbours' empty house, wears weird clothes and make up, keeps looking at her reflection, is obsessed with her outlook, is nasty to others and talks about getting their partner.
Then Bea starts acting weird, going to the neighbours’ house, has weird clothes, looks at her reflection and tells Cath nasty stuff.
And Cath DOES NOT REALISE THE TWO THINGS ARE RELATED???? How stupid do you have to be??? Bea is literally behaving like Mrs Kitt and you don’t notice???

To be honest, Aunt Astrid is not that smarter, but at least after getting assaulted by her daughter, she realises something is wrong. But it took ages for her to notice her daughter wasn’t ok and this is ludicrous.

And ludicrous is also how they are three witches, we saw them at least 9 other times coming in contact with the weirdest shit, and still now Cath sees a man with no face in a hospital and thinks “oh maybe I am tired” DUDE??? And the other two don’t really think much about that or how the mother of the boyfriend is crazy off her ass and definitely doing something paranormal. They just go “well maybe she is shocked” she is a witch??? You are witches??? Can’t you think of another explanation like, oh I don’t know, that she is using magic????

I get that writing 10 books in a series is hard because you run out of ideas, but making the characters all idiotic does not cut it. You can’t bring the plot ahead by making the characters face the most obvious things but they are dumb so they just take forever to see what is in front of their eyes. It makes for lazy plot devices and makes the reader angry.

And now about the passive thing. When the aunt says something about the Medusa Praesentia, Cath goes “I don’t need to know anything more about the Medus Praesentia. That can go on Cath’s lists of things I don’t need to know.” Wow Cath THIS is why you get into trouble all the time. It’s because not only are you stupid, but you are almost proud of being stupid and do nothing to change it. You are a goddamned witch and you know NOTHING. I swear, why be a witch when you don’t even try to learn something about it? She keeps complaining about how useful Bea’s gift is, and how strong Aunt Astrid is, but then she does nothing with her gift aside from making small talk with her cat, and never even bothers to learn ONE thing about it.

I swear it was such a frustrating read. The only thing that saved this is that the last third of the book is not too bad. We get to see Cath and Astrid going around and doing things actively, and

I really think the ending did save this for me and for old time’s sake I will give this 2.5 stars bumped up to 3. And the next book is the very last, so I hope it’s way better than this one.

When Cath's neighbor is cat sitting for other people on the street, she comes over to borrow some cat food. Within a day Cath sees her again yet barely recognizes her because of her physical changes. Where once was a dowdy and messy looking older woman now stands a woman with too tight hooker clothes, too much make-up, and teased up hair. Within days she is dead-her heart has literally turned to stone and exploded in her chest. Bea and Cath go to the neighbor's house with the cats, and discover they hadn't been fed, nor had their litter box cleaned. Cath rescues the cat and the two cousins marvel over how bland the house seems with it's only decorating feature seeming to be mirrors. Before long Bea is acting strangely (and similar to the neighbor who's heart exploded.) Aunt Astrid and Cath realize Bea doesn't have long to live if they don't figure out what has happened to her!

Meanwhile, Cath's boyfriend Tom has been shot in the line of duty and his mother won't let Cath see him. She accuses Cath of trying to kill Tom and tries to work some witchcraft on Tom to keep him from getting well and getting back with Cath. What a mess! Between Jake and Blake, they try to make it so Cath can visit Tom, but his mother threatens her and keeps her away. She is also using evil witchcraft on Tom.

In my opinion this was one of the better books in the series. It required research of witchcraft books to overcome the evil. For once it didn't seem like there was made-up after made-up demons without any realistic way to fight them. I also liked it because it explored Cath's feelings for Tom and her recognition of her true feelings about others. It was more like she realized she had been falling for an idea instead of a person. When sweet Bea becomes entangled with the evil, her family pulls out all the stops to save her no matter how she acts towards them, proving how important family really is.

It is a great addition to the series and I look forward to see where things go from here!

Apparently I have reached the end of the series, darn it. Perhaps #11 is in the works, but who knows? Cath's elderly neighbor, Mrs. Kitt, keeps showing up to borrow things, and Cath is shocked to see the changes in her. First she shows up in pajamas acting normally, later she's dressed like a hooker and very mouthy. She is supposed to be feeding the cats at another neighbor's house, the Lourdes. When Mrs. Kitt dies and Cath goes to check on the cats, she finds they have not been fed at all and are in bad shape. Then Tom is shot and in the hospital, but his mother won't let Cath near him and is very abusive. People keep looking at their reflections in mirrors, windows, even tea urns; it comes to a head when Cath's sweet cousin Bea starts dressing strangely and being rude. Aunt Astrid finally realizes what is happening and has Cath and their familiar cats help her to try to break the spell. When Tom doesn't get any better, Cath suspects his mother is doing something to him, but has to get past her to get Bea in to help him. There is a lot going on in this story - eventually, of course, they all unite to save Tom, and Cath has to decide how she really feels about him. I was gave it 4 stars, but that is 3 1/2 rounded up because it was so confusing - and I got bored with all the romantic ups and downs. However, it was still intriguing overall and I stayed up most of the night to finish it. I hope Harper Lin writes some more in this series.

Oh my gosh another great story to add to the series. There was several storylines going on and it had me reading this book in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. First Cath's next door neighbor starts coming over to borrow things. But after a couple times her personality changes and not for the better. But when she turns up dead Cath is curious why.
Then she gets the news Tom has been shot. Blake takes her there where she runs into his demon of a Mom. She has Cath thrown out. Cath knows her feelings for Tom has changed. I don't agree with her reason why. She can be rather dense sometimes.
When whatever happened to her neighbor start happening to Bea it's a race against time to save her.
This story gets real spooky and suspenseful at this point. I couldn't read face enough
I can't wait to see what's next especially with secrets being revealed
I voluntarily agreed to review this book. My review is my own honest opinion.

I love this series!!! My favorite by this author and probably my favorite supernatural/mystery series of all. Something strange is going on the the neighbor - yes stranger imo than before. Cath and Tom are having some issues - and his mom Patience - ironic name - is still a witch but not a good one. There is so much going on in this book. Cath struggles with her perception of herself and shows such character growth - I just love her. We often don't see ourselves as others do. There was a part of the storyline that I struggled with but the author convinced me to like it. You gotta read this one to find out what I'm talking about. Can't wait for book 11!!!

When Cath's neighbor comes over and ask for cat food so she can feed the neighbors cats, Cath happily gives her some. The next time she comes over Cath notices something very different about her. With Tom, Cath's boyfriend, on her mind she doesn't thing much of it. A suspicious death causes the Greenstone Witches to start trying to figure things out. A few twist and turns, a little romance and a lot of cat help form Treacle, Peanut Butter and Marshmallow. This mystery will be solved.
A wonderful series that gets better with each book. You will enjoy this series as well as others written by Harper Lin. I received an advanced readers copy o this book.

This is my favorite book in the series so far. This one wasn't as scary as some of the others and there was a wonderful surprise ending. I love all the characters in the books. You have another eerie mystery, family that loves and works together, fun, laughs and it seems that Cath has now got her life going in a wonderful direction. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I received this book from the author to read and review. I can't say enough good things about this book. By far the best book I've read in quite a while.

The most horrifying book in the series, bar none. There is not 1 threat in this book but 2! First, Tom is shot and when his mother shows up, all kinds of weird things start to happen. Then, there is something that is possessing people and making them become rude and hateful. (Semi-spoiler here.) It even affects Bea. Astrid and Cath have their hands full trying to TCOB. A horrifying story with a sweet, surprise ending.

I always look forward to a new Wonder cats mystery, and this one was filled with so much edge of your seat excitement it had me up all night reading.
Cath, Astrid, and Bea are characters you’ll fall in love with, and the cats will make you smile and laugh out loud with their antics.
Love the three witches, and their familiars, and can’t forget the men in their lives.. a plot twist at the end had me almost in tears.
Another fantastic book by Harper Lin

There are some strange and deadly things going on in Wonder Falls. An elderly Mrs. Kitt starts dressing and running around like a streetwalker and then Cath's boyfriend Tom gets shot. The Greenstone girls and their familiars better get on this and the sooner the better before anything else happens. I enjoy how this story is written and the characters are great. I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book.

A good read

The storyline was quite good, the editing was excellent. Where there are areas where to my taste are a little bit wordy. I especially enjoyed the cats.

This was probably one of the creepier books that the author has written where good-natured Bea is turned into a literal monster.

It also features Kath's relationship with Tom, which takes an unexpected turn.

I really enjoyed this entry and unlike other series, seems to keep getting better.

Another 5 paw review!
