Frumpy to Foxy in 15 Minutes : Style Tips for Every Woman

Rate this book
Frumpiness is a fact of life...frizzy hair days, blotchy skin days, big and bloated days. But women everywhere can take solace in the fact that they're not the only ones who get 'the frumps' - Everyone does! Yes, even Sarah Jessica Parker and Jennifer Aniston have occasional days when they feel fashion-less. Women's magazines have built an enormous business around this fact, from "Dos and Don'ts" lists to features on "Stars Without Makeup". Elycia Rubin and Rita Mauceri to the rescue! Contrasting frumpy 'before' illustrations and commentary with the foxy 'after' pictures, Elycia and Rita show how to avoid looking frumpy in all situations. Frumpy to Foxy in 15 Minutes Flat will show women how to ditch the frumpies and drape themselves in foxy for every life situation, from working out to going out.

I picked this up on a whim in the library and checked it out, even though the act of being seen with this book made me feel frumpy! (And my husband, God bless him, took one look and said, "Why are you reading THAT?") It was a fun book to flip through, but sitting down and reading every page got to be tedious pretty quickly. There's no one right formula for every person, so the advice in the book has to be taken with a grain of salt. And I really don't need a book to tell me not to wear ratty sweats in public. Overall, I'd steer clear of this one.

This is a book for women who already know how to be foxy (in appearance, I mean.)

There is a section of "prerequisites". You know, those clothes/etc. necessary for basic every day dress/grooming? For example, a gray skirt.

I didn't even have 1 of them!!!!

And the section on being foxy for Moms is miniscule!

I think it could be a great book for a woman far ahead of me on fashion (NOT hard to do!!!!).

Very helpful for putting a professional appearance on, too.

LAME! But honestly, what was I expecting? If you dress business professional to business casual on a daily basis then maybe this book is for you. I'm not that type of gal. Sure I like to dress nice but I also appreciate my jeans and tee shirt days too. Plus, I don't know anyone that even attends cocktail parties. The other tips and tricks they give you are common sense. This book is a waste of time.

Very light read with cute drawings for examples. Picked it up mostly as a joke because my boyfriend does not have a good grasp of what the word "Frumpy" conveys so I'm always trying to explain to him what it means.:) It was cute, but not necessarily a guide.
