During his time there, United won the Premier League title six times, the FA Cup twice, and the UEFA Champions League in 1999. He left Manchester United to sign for Real Madrid in 2003, where he remained for four seasons. While at Madrid, Beckham became the first British footballer to play 100 Champions League matches. In his final season, Real clinched the 2006-07 La Liga championship title (Beckham's only major trophy with the club) in the final game of the season on 17 June. In January 2007, it was announced that Beckham would leave Real Madrid and sign a five-year contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Beckham's new contract with the Galaxy, effective 1 July 2007, gave him the highest salary of any MLS player in history. He debuted for the team on 21 July in a friendly versus Chelsea at the Home Depot Center, and on 15 August, he had his first start with the team, scoring his first goal in the 2007 SuperLiga semi-final. His first league start then came on 18 August in front of a record crowd at Giants Stadium.

The protagonist is David beckham. The book is a very well-done story about the life of David beckham. The book starts when he was just a young buck with the love of soccer. While he was a young man he always had the love for soccer. He played on teams around his home town. David was always the star player on his team and he was always destined for greatness. While a teenager he played for very good teams in England. And was scouted for big teams all around the world. The biggest teams from around the world wanted David. Including real Madrid and Manchester united. Young David went to play with Manchester it was a dream come true for him because that is the biggest and best team in England. He played there for many years and competed against the best players in the world. David beckham got an international call to play up with England national team. David played very well at the top level and slowly because one of the greats. One of his best moments in soccer was when England was playing Greece and the game was tied 2-2 and it was the end of the game and David had a free kick and if he scored England would advance to the world cup finals. David lined up and hit a banger of a freekick and scored the golazo and everyone got shook and it was super awesome and they advanced. David then was the enemy of all England fans for getting a red aired in the world cup. He went from hero to zero really fast. He then bounced back and everyone loved him and he continued to play at the highest level. He then played for other teams in Europe and kept scoring goals and because the greatest player of all time. He then moved to the MLS when he was getting older and played with the LA Galaxy. He did very well with this team and they ended up winning the MLS cup a few times and then he decided to retire. He Is still in the game of soccer and he has recently created his own MLS team and he will continue to be a soccer ledged in the usa and also all over the world because of his time playing the beautiful game. This book, David Beckham’s Soccer Skills, by David Beckham, goes into some detail about what it takes to be a good soccer player. Also, David Beckham talks about moments in his life that helped him be where he’s at now. There’s so many soccer fanatics in the world that it won’t take time to find someone that will connect to this book and to David Beckham’s road to becoming a professional soccer player. The book will have your attention from beginning to end because there’s so many tactics that will help you be a great soccer player, it will leave a lasting value in you after you are done reading it and the book is just beatifically written.
If you are a true soccer fan and you love playing soccer this book will captivate you. You won’t stop reading this book after you start because the book is written from the perspective of a world famous soccer star. What will grab most of your attention will be the tips that he gives to be a good soccer player, David Beckham argues that to be a good defender you must, “Be patient and react only to the ball, not the player, as they will try to trick you with fakes and step-overs” (Beckham 107). Good tips like this are throughout the book. If you play soccer this will help you get better at it. I consider this book to have no weakness because the author, David Beckham, did a fabulous job at delivering the information and motivation to the readers of the book, and the soccer fanatics. It gives you a good enough description to visualize yourself in the situation. If you keep reading, you will feel as if the author himself wrote the book just for you, that’s how much you will connect to it. The book is a great book to read, it won’t disappoint you.
The book will leave a lasting value installed in you. It gives you advice in how to play better by telling you examples of what to do and not to do. The book will feel like a personal coach but a much friendlier one then the average coach. David Beckham, the author, will imply to you that, “Don’t be frighten to make that first touch a heavy one, one that takes the ball away from you, allowing you to move onto it and be positive” (Beckham 32), because he understands how it feel to be in that particular situation if you are just getting started with playing soccer. It will connect to you at a personal level. It will let you know that is okay to mess up because perfection if not possible at all times. You’ll be surprise to find out how much it will relate to you. Anyone struggling to become a better soccer player should be recommended this book because it will fill you with motivation and knowledge of what the sport can do for you, and it has done for David Beckham. You will know that it left you a lasting value when you are playing soccer and you think back on a phrase that motivated you to keep going that came from the book.
The book is so beatifically written because of the language it uses to grab and stay with the reader’s attention. There’s as much serious parts in the book as there are humorous ones. The way that is written really holds the reader’s attention, the author demonstrates his humorous side by describing that, “When done at pace this is a cross that will have fans off their seats and defenders pulling their hair” (Beckham 126), because detail like that is what makes a reader love the book. Soccer requires a lot of knowledge to be able to understand the game and the author clearly has understanding of the sport even when he is being comedian about it. David Beckham has a purpose on why he wrote this book, and it was that he wants to give back to his fans the knowledge that he has acquired about soccer throughout his professional life as a soccer player. In the book he also talks about the academy he built for kids to come in and for them to be in a professional environment. He wants to help create soccer players that will have complete knowledge about the sport in all areas of the field. It informs them wells with everything they need to know. A better writing coming from a soccer star you couldn’t have asked for because he just keeps you at the edge of your seat.

I instantly picked up this book because I’ve played soccer for a majority of my life and David Beckham is a known soccer player so I was instantly interested! I learned a lot about his skill, the way he teaches, and why he loves the game! I related a lot. I know within a classroom students would be interested in this book because it talks about something they have a interest for or because it’s included a known person they’ve heard or seen play! I would have this book in my class for students to read independently!

David Beckham's soccer skills by David Beckham. The book is a non-fiction, biography. David Beckham was born May 2,1975 in Leytonstone England and as a young boy David wanted to become the captain of England's national soccer team. Growing up, David's parents were generally supportive of him playing soccer, but David's dad was more critical. David used his parents attitude's as a motivation to do better. At the age of twenty, David was accepted to play for Manchester United, one of the best clubs in the world and top clubs in England. This was extremely impressive. Then at the age of twenty-five he was bought by another world class team--Real Madrid of Spain because of his great skills and playing style.
I really enjoyed the book because it focused on soccer skills and it showed how to quickly excel in soccer by teaching the basics, as well as advanced techniques that I was able to use in my weekly soccer games and tryouts.
I recommend this book to both kids and adults that want to learn about good and quick soccer skills. My rating for the book is a 4 out of 5 because Beckham provided an outline that was easy to follow. Beckham said, "As a kid, when you see the players do something on television or at a game, you immediately want to do the same." This book helps you realize that desire.
