Rate this book
The essential companion to Michael's insightful "Dragon Mother: A New Look at the Female Psyche."

"Adultism: The Reign of the Terrible Mother" continues Michael's investigation into female psychology, and how a mother's influence determines not only the character of a son or daughter, but their political outlooks.

The myth of female non-violence is again challenged and undermined.

Michael Tsarion was born in Northern Ireland and is a researcher of the occult. He is an author and public speaker whose topics include symbolism, sidereal astrology and Atlantis. He is also the producer and presenter of the Origins and Oracles series which explores ancient mysteries and forbidden knowledge.

An expert on the occult histories of Ireland and America, has made the deepest researches into the comparative mythologies of the world and into his own country's ancient and mysterious Celtic Tradition. His presentations on Atlantis and the origins of evil have been acclaimed by veterans in the field of paranormal research.

In the tradition of Comyns Beaumont, Ignatius Donnelly, Immanuel Velikovsky, William Bramley and Erich von Daniken, Michael considers the consequences to civilization of extra-terrestrial involvement and seeks to clarify many of the quandaries that other "visitation" experts have overlooked.

His book clarifies the disinformation about Atlantis and the lost continents of prehistory. It concentrates on the orchestrated chaos of modern times and reveals how the political and military machinations of the present have their roots in the ancient past. As well as stating the problems, Michael also furnishes us with solutions to the moral and social predicaments that have beset humankind for millennia. Michael is also the co-creator along with Joshua Faulkenberry and Allen Reed of the TimeGnosis Personal Timescopes system. Michael appeared Friday, July 07, 2006 on the Sci Fi Channel special Quest for Atlantis: Startling New Secrets, hosted by The Today Show's Natalie Morales. On this show, which purports to probe the murky depths surrounding the mysterious history of the mythological continent of Atlantis, Tsarion discusses his own theories as to the origins and whereabouts of this mystical land. www.taroscopes.com

Excellent book, a great add-on to dragon mother. Short, but well researched. Could have only hoped for more material. Almost 4 stars because of this disappointment. Summarized: The book they didn't want you to read.

It is as if the concrete, steel and ubiquitous red-tape of the bureaucratic world is the outplaying of our systemic body-armoring and introjected master-slave dynamic. Political action can, therefore, change a little. It amounts to moving the furniture around on the Titanic, as if it helped avoiding the looming iceberg ahead

Shadow work, when correctly undertaken, replaces self-hate with Self-love. It ends the master vs. slave dynamic between psyche and soma, and shifts our moral center from the punishing superego back to conscience. Our self-image is repaired and we are no longer obsessed with receiving approval from anyone. Dark emotions are allowed to arise and freely express themselves, and our understanding on all levels is, as a result, massively upgraded. We develop psychic immunity and have a deeper, more intimate relationship with ourselves and reality.

The identification (with ones own mother) is hard to break as long as one still foolishly looks to the terrible mother for the power she promised to extend. "Identify with my will, and I'll bestow my power to you", says the terrible mother, in not so many words. "Be good, and it will all be yours to do with as you will.. Look at the control I have over your idiot father... don't you want such power over men out there?" This is particularly unbearable for any girl who thinks they've earned their reward, and gone through living hell to get it. To finally discover it was all a sick joke, merely increases the cache of rage within that will one day need to be expressed and exorcised. The theater for this unholy exorcism is usually the daughter's own family unit.

Karen Horney (1885-1952), the great psychologist, had a troubled relationship with her own daughter. She coined the term "matrophobia." She knew that becoming a young mother of small dependents often satisfies a basic need to recast oneself as the demagogue and sadist, which in turn arises from constitutional powerlessness and inferiority. One says to themselves: "If I am powerful, I can't be hurt." A parent of this type gets sadistic pleasure by threatening to withdraw love from her children, as it was withheld by her parent in the past. This dynamic is known as identificatin with the object of one's hate, and is the machinery by which all tyrannies arise.

Western societies are producing an increasing brood of docile "Hipsters" and "Soy-Boys" who can no longer be described accurately as "male". Psychically they are almost entirely under the thrall of the terrible feminine that subtly directs their outlooks and attitudes, politically and socially. Both regressed contingents berate the masculine solar world and desire to see its collapse, that their own pathology might appear less conspicuous and dire.

And, dragon mother, summarized:

Moreover, as I show in Dragon mother , we understand the need for trauma-free birthing, weaning and nurturing. Mothers are to present the masculine world alright, with admiration rather than envy and contempt. They are to deal sensitively with male children and refrain from misrepresenting the male world, thereby instilling fear and anxiety into the mind. They are to avoid acting as castrators, and not disfigure the psyche and seual identity of their male children. By setting up a power-struggle, terrible mothers ensure that a state of unbearable tension disables their child's fragile psychic homeostasis and ethical outlook. They ensure that feelings of rage, revenge and self-contempt poison his emotions, ensuring that their children become disciples of power and control, rather than of love and empathy.

This book explains the truth of my existence in relationship to my f*cked up mother. I fought this all my life with her; social codes of silence at that level be damned forever!

I dislike the somatic pain it brought up, but it needed to be said. I like the enumeration of physical signs from enduring the dysfunction. Every human needs to know about this, heal oneself and call it all out.
