This is another fantastic book by Charlotte Byrd. She once again brings strong characters and weaves a thrilling story with enough twists and turns to keep you glued to the pages right to the end and then left wanting more with the cliffhanger ending. It's the second book in this dark series , is well written, moves quickly and smoothly and I loved reading. Highly recommend this book / series.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

Crown of York by Charlotte Byrd
Everly and Easton are stuck on the island called York. Easton’s father is the King of York and rules the island the way he wants, he doesn’t follow anyone else rules. This story pulls you in and makes you want more. This is the second book in this series and can’t wait for the next book. This is a dark romance with so many lows but just as many highs. This book is so hard to put down, so I read it until I finished this part of the series and I wait for the next part. The pages just turn themselves. I don’t know how Charlotte Byrd writes these stories I am just so glad she does. I have really enjoyed this series so far, and I highly recommend this book. I received an ARC and have voluntarily left a review. This is my honest opinion.

The fast pace story of Everly and Easton continues.

We now realize what the King is looking for in a new wife and how he treats his wives. We see how Abbott, Easton’s brother is obsessed with Everly, wanting to abuse and rape her.

We learn of the hurt Easton has buried deep in his heart for a lost love who was killed as they attempted to escape York.

The story continues with all the action, twist and turn as the first book. It is exciting and dramatic. I loved it.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of the ARC team.

This series I have no words as there are so dark you just want to run away from it but at the same time so addictive you can’t put them down, We are getting to learn more about the contestants and was surprised by the change of heart from the King of York and then he turns the table and its seems like the bad penny is back.

Can’t wait to read more about Easton and Everly’ plight in the next instalment.

SUSPENSE in spades!!! The difficult and complex world of York got more convoluted. The King of York is Alistair Bay. He is the father of Easton and Abbott from his first and only loving first wife. Every two years Alistair takes a new wife and she becomes Queen of York. The other wives and their children are cloistered away on the island. They are required to cover themselves from hair, to wrist to feet. Why is Alistair procreating so prolifically? I am not sure. I hope to find out eventually in the coming books. Easton declares his love for Everly and finally Everly has something to live for. Jamie makes a reappearance in this episode and Everly tries to play it cool although she is raging inside. She wants to know why did he do that to her. Another contestant Paige is shocked to see him and starts yelling and attacking him. What happens next is not good. But before Jamie leaves the island, Easton grabs him for a little chat. Jamie's information as to how he himself was recruited, how he got the dossier of every woman he was supposed to make believe he was their dream man. He would read the dossier and become their ideal man. Then he would take them to the Bay Foundation Event. He would receive a text whether the Bay Foundation panel wanted the woman or not. If they did he proceeded as planned. If not, he would send them home. (lucky girl). Easton gleaned as much information as possible from Jamie. He needed information if he was to figure a way to beat his father at his own game. As the contestants are eliminated, Everly sweats each round out seeing if she is staying or going. She stays. The King of York makes an appearance. Then Everly's world comes crashing down around her, she is kicked while she is down and nothing will be the same again. Abbott returns from punishment isle and is gunning for Everly for revenge. Easton as always tries to do what he can to protect Everly, but that is so limited. Abbott is allowed to talk to Everly and tells her the tale of the whipping boy, but explains in her case it would be the whipping girl. He shows Everly what he wants to do to her. Everly closes her eyes from the horror that Abbott is raining down unspeakable things onto this poor whipping girl. Everly wants her mind to take he away, but Abbott wants her to watch. After Abbott makes a scene, the King scolds him. Then the King changes all the rules and everyone is confused including Everly, Easton and even Abbott. But there is always bad that comes from the good and Easton and Everly are the recipients of that courtesy of the King of York. This is an exciting series and I can't wait for the next book: Throne of York. I highly recommend this book. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

2/10

A deliciously dark and erotic second novel in the YORK series. A MUST-Buy!
Once again, author Charlotte Byrd has woven a titillating tale which takes readers on a tension-filled journey into the lives of Everly and Easton. Two of the many lives trapped on the Island nation of York and trapped into bending under the sadistic whims of Eaton’s sociopathic Father, the King. He’s the one who rules YORK with a tyrannically sadistic iron fist, manipulating all with the fear of death or worse. “What could be worse than death?” You ask? Everly could tell you, but if she does say anything, then you or she or both could end up in that place, and there is no way Everly would say or do anything which might sentence anyone to that dungeon. Or, if rumors are to be believed, something worse than sexual slavery. . . They don’t use those words, everything here is a metaphor within a house of mirrors . . . nothing is as it seems. However, Everly and Easton are brought together here and when the rules change, build a hope of a silver lining future . . . but is that even real? Charlotte Byrd’s descriptive and eloquent prose places the reader within the mind, heart, and perspective of both Everly and Eaton through the use of dual narration and accelerates their relationship as they find within each other’s arms the strength and reason to escape York and Easton’s father erratic behavior and decisions. This building of trust is not without its challenges, but everything seems to be pointing to an escape from York and a future with each other . . . or does it? (This one is for the 18+ crowd only and watch out for the cliff. However, know that the third book in only a couple of weeks away!) I voluntarily read an ARC copy of “CROWN OF YORK” by Charlotte Byrd and this is my honest 5+STAR review. I STRONGLY suggest that you purchase your copy of “CROWN OF YORK” today! Happy pages! 😉

A deliciously dark second in the series novel about the kingdom of horrors that is York where poor Everly March finds herself both a victim and a contestant in a bid to win the hand of the King of York himself. But although Everly desperately needs to win the contest in order to survive the brutalities of York, she is also very much in love with the Prince of York, Easton. But nothing is ever as it seems on York so Easton could be nothing more than another manipulative player in the game and she's already been played by him before. Meanwhile, Easton may be titled a prince, but he's no more than a prisoner himself forced to live by the whims of the sadistic king himself and never allowed to truly be himself. Add in his psychotic brother Abbott, who is violently obsessed with Everly, and Easton must do everything he can to protect her from not only his family but himself. The contest had heated up and the king has decided to change the rules a little. So are the contestants still playing for the king's hand or have there been additional prizes thrown into the mix that could mean more than becoming Queen of York. Charlotte Byrd delivers another amazing novel with both steamy and psychologically astounding elements that all equal one fantastic read. While it's not absolutely necessary to have read House of York because the author does try to catch the reader up, it is definitely recommended as it too was a great read.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Ending will make u want book 3 now.

I am not sure how I feel about this series. I love the writing and this is my 3 series I have read by This author. This book doesn't really do it to me. I read to lose myself in the characters, I can't wrap my mind around why Easton would come back to York and stay with what he knows happens there. Did he come for Everly, did he know she was there. Unlike in the Black series the women are subject to a competition however on their terms, they aren't forced to be there. I couldn't sympathize with the women even knowing most were there without wanting to be there.I was about to abandon this series and because I never leave a book unfinished I read to the end, the ending has finally caught me.I have to get book 3 to see where this goes.what happens to the king and his evil son Abbott. So I will buy book 3 but this series I should have stopped with book 1. Sorry by this book is too dark for me and I like dark.

Okay part two to this story about the Prince of York (Easton) and the lovely Ms. Everly. This book was a very quick read and it starts off right where book one ended. It was twist and turns and just had me guessing where Eastons old crazy daddy was up to next. Then you throw in the mix Eastons crazy brother Abbott. Mr. Jealous and falling on the lines of crazy brings another monkey wrench into the story. Between the Father and the son I was trying to figure out who was the worst between the two. And with my head spinning with all of the different events going on with the book the author throws a *what the hell* into the mix at the end. I cannot wait until book three is out. This is one hell of a rollercoaster ride. Oh and did I mention those mouth watering sex scenes. (Oh my bad) They were sinfully HAWT. Happy Reading!!!

Well, I know this is a twisted dark romance but enough already of everyone being framed for something that they didn't do. I don't believe how twisted this story ending was. I was just beginning to think that Austin Bay, the King of York, Easton's father was not as bad as I think he is but something definitely wrong. I think maybe he heard Easton and Everly's conversation or someone read Everly's notes, and he had to get rid of his son some kind of way. It is making me think that maybe he killed his own wife. Or could it have been Abbot who did the deed that Easton is accused of. I can't wait to see how this series plays out. I have read other books by Charlotte Byrd, but this is a different type of love story, its very, very dark. Finale is waiting.

Get this book now! This installment is a SUPER HOT, edge of your seat, romance story that will keep you swiping your Kindle, with characters that can only be described as captivating! I recommend reading the first book in this series, if for no other reason, because the story is also super hot, but also, to familiarize yourself with the storyline and characters. Cliffhanger(s) keep your heart (and other parts) thumping as you anxiously await what's next! Super dark, filled with angst, tension, steam and a great story on top of it all. The next book can't come fast enough! I received an advanced copy and am leaving an honest review voluntarily.

What I liked/Didn’t Like: A wonderfully dark and twisted addition to the House of York series. This one must be read after you read house of York or it will not make any sense what so ever. It answered some of the questions I had from book one but now I must wait for book 3. I loved it.

This book gives you a rollercoaster ride of emotions and you feel that you are going through everything with them. Every time Abbott's name is mentioned it makes me shudder as he is such an evil man. I could not put this book down and lost track of time turning the page's to see what happened next. Charlotte you are an amazing author with so much imagination and I love reading your books and I definitely recommend them to everyone. OMG Charlotte how could you do this to us and end the story like that.

If you love dark romances this is the series for you. At times a bit too dark as there are some really disturbing scenes. Kudos to the author for how her mind thinks to come up with the violence, revenge and very graphic scenes. The book kept me reading to see where it would go next and sometimes it is down right shocking. Looking forward to the next installment in the series.

I'm so loving this story. Everly and Easton are finding love with each other but it's still like the king has plans for them both. By the time we see them happy things get totally screwed up. He is charged with a crime he didn't commit and we'll have to see what will happen and how it plays out. Bring on the next book. I give it 5 stars. I am hooked on this series! This is the second book in this series and I do recommend reading them in order. Everly is doing her best to play the game and stay in the competition as she knows the alternative. Easton wants to protect Everly but can he outwit his father? This is a fast-paced read with LOADS of drama and suspense. The chemistry between Everly and Easton is off the charts hot and the story has you glued to your kindle. Can’t wait for more! Loved it!

This was a fast read full of characters that you both loved and hated. Poor Everly is stuck in the middle of this intense family dynamic and I at times feel very sorry for her. I was shocked by the ending and I hope there will be a good resolution in the upcoming books. There are a few things I am certain about though.... the king is an egotistical nut job, Abbott is pure evil, and Easton is the calm in the storm.

Ongoing story

Everly is participating in a competition without knowing what the winner gets. Along with a group of other young women, the reader, through Easton's words, know the end result is marriage to his father, the self-styled King of York, an evil man.
This is the second book in a trilogy, and events from the first are alluded to, sparking some curiosity. There is tension and anxiety, and no HEA despite the burgeoning relationship between Easton and Everly.

I did not see that ending coming. I was so invested in reading that I was totally surprised by that plot twist. Wow, what more can Everly and Easton withstand? Abbott and his Dad are crazy as hell. Everly must decide if she believes Easton or his father. There is several twist and turns in the competition due to the King. He keeps everyone on their toes. Easton goes on a date with each contestant and comes clean to Everly. Abbott comes back and still wants revenge. Easton tries to save Everly from his brother but it’s to late. What happens next? Read to find out. There is a proposal.

Sigh

More sex but not much more. If it’s possible, even worse editing than the first. Could’ve done without 3 pages extolling indie authors daring to be novel and innovative, given how often these lack editing.

As for the story, surprise another cliff hanger. The drama ramps up, I’ll give it that. I actually started to care about Everly and her circumstances.
