Rate this book
Secrets made in the darkness will always seek the light.

When Angie and Christian take their baby twins, Eva and Elijah, on an outing to the steamy, deserted wetlands, Angie can’t shake a feeling that something is about to go wrong. It’s the same feeling she has every time she looks at Eva, her much-loved baby girl.

After the family swim in the river, they fall asleep – blissfully unaware of what’s been waiting for this exact moment to claim the one it wants. Angie wakes to find she’s slipped inside her worst nightmare. When one of her babies is taken by a dark force, Angie discovers the true identity of her twins.

By the end of the devastating day, their lives have changed forever. Angie and Christian make a pact to keep what they know a secret – that they will go to any length to protect.

‘The Witch Born to be Fire Queen’ – the prequel in the Inferno series takes you back seventeen years before Book One begins, where you’ll discover why the secret was made.

The secret remains hidden for many years, but in Book One of the Inferno series, the truth is finally revealed, changing all of their lives forever.

If you loved Twilight and The Vampire Diaries, you’ll love the Inferno series.

A short story introducing us to two witches and their twin babies who are more than they seem. Convenient prophesy time!

I liked how the mother's conflicted emotions about Eva were expressed even as it was clear she undoubtedly loved her baby daughter, mirroring that real life maternal love but also guilt over failure to quite bond... although this is paranormal reasons rather than just emotional ones. Also nice referencing the kookaburra to help set the Aussie grasslands scene. A couple of word repetitions during the action and oddly formal speech patterns could jar a little, but as a story set up it shows a lot of YA paranormal promise.

A baby in the cradle fighting off dark forces and raising the dead is the stuff myths are made of, and the treatment of a parent's worst fear had me all twisted up inside - and all that in such a little short story. Looking forward to see what the twins grow up to be!

This prequel is VERY short and is summed up completely by a few lines from the mother in the first full-length book (also completely summed in the blurb). I like the books and the series so far, but I struggle to see the necessity for this tiny tale.

A very short but interesting novella. Probably good to read before reading the first book in the series; I don't feel that it was very fulfilling on its own, but it served as a good introduction. I do want to know what happens next.

Leaves me wanting more.

This was a nice little story. I wish it had been a little longer and a little more detailed, but it has enough to leave me wanting more and ready to read the rest of the series.
