Candy didn’t build a life for herself by being stupid, regardless what people might think of her being a stripper. And no matter what her body wants, what her heart wants, she knows that falling for a fighter is as stupid as it gets.
A Disciple will fight like a savage, but that isn’t always the way.
If Hook’s life has taught him one thing: to fight for what he wants. He’s fought in the ring, to earn his patch, to protect his family. And he would fight for Candy, if she’d just give him a chance to show her that what’s between them could be everything.
When the attraction is at full throttle, this biker knows there’s no giving up.
Drew Elyse spends her days trying to convince the world that she is, in fact, a princess and writing tear-jerking and sexy romance novels. Her titles include the Savage Disciples MC and Sailor’s Grave series.
When she isn't writing, she can usually be found pouring over books with a pot of tea beside her, obsessively building her Disney collections, binge watching her favorite shows, or baking all manner of unhealthy things.
She lives outside her hometown of Chicago with her husband and their fur babies, Luna and Duncan.
Throttle was a novella within the Savage Disciples MC series by Drew Elyse. The time line aligned from start to finish with the previous book, Cruise; however, it was told from Hook and Candy’s perspectives.
Hook was a newly patched member of the MC. He was a fighter and learned the importance of fighting from an early age. Candy worked at one of the Savage Disciple companies, The Candy Store. She was wildly attracted to Hook but vowed never to get involved with a fighter.
Elyse took us through the chemistry, chase and struggles with getting Hook and Candy together. It was told from both perspectives and was a delight to read. As a novella, it was short and to the point, but it left me with “good feels” and I was glad to get the bonus book.
Confession: I haven’t read any of the books in the Savage Disciples series (Yet) but I have read the Sailor’s Grave books, which is a spin off of the SD series. So I figured that since I read those and have some knowledge of the MC and the fact that it was stated that Throttle could be read as a standalone, I figured I’d give it a go and it was a great read. Quick, fun, smexy and had just the right amount of drama to keep things interesting, it kept me turning the pages and wanting to spend more time with the Savage Disciples crew.
I really liked Hook and Candy. Hook is a good man. Sweet, sexy, determined, protective and not afraid to speak his mind and lay everything out on the table when necessary. Candy is sweet, sassy and guarded. Her past wasn’t pretty, and her present may not meet most people’s approval, but she is a fighter and owns all that she is. Their journey was a rocky one, but I loved how Hook got under Candy’s skin and backed up everything he said to her with actions that spoke even louder.
This was a great read and if you haven’t read the series, like myself, you won’t feel like you’re missing out on anything, though you will want to find a way to add the previous books to your very, very long TBR list so you can learn more about the MC and the couples you meet in Throttle. So, if you like MC romances and are looking for a quick read that has a great balance of humor, heart and drama then this is a must click!

I'm always down to go back to world of the Savage Disciples. I thought Cruise would be the last of them so I was pleasantly surprised for this novella. Hook has been a prospect for most of the series so the book begins at the party celebrating his new status as a full fledged member. Hook and Candy have been dancing around each other for awhile. Candy is attracted to Hook but the fact that he's a fighter has her wary. I really enjoyed this book and Hook and Candy getting their HEA was a plus. I really hope there are more coming. Love Drew's writing.

Okay, first let me say, Novellas and MC books are normally not my go to reading choices....but, I have read a couple of Ms. Elyse’s other books and enjoyed them. Also, there was a statement that Cruise should be read first, even though Throttle is a stand-alone, wellllllllll......I just skipped and dived right into Hook and Candy’s story and I didn’t feel lost (which is a fine example of an author setting the stage for a new reader).
Now for why you are reading this.....as this was a novella, it was pretty fast paced with the storyline and events; which was great because the story kept me wanting more....which leads to me wishing it was a full length story. Hook was a prime example of pure male hotness and of course he is all ALPHA!!! Candy doesn’t take sh^t from him and is private and not ready to experience a relationship with Hook because of experiences in her past.
Ms. Elyse was able to capture the emotion of these two people and keep the story moving.

This is a novella. This was a really good novella. It had a great pace, and I really liked Hook and Candy. This book had great pacing, great characters, and a surprise. I really enjoyed this book.
Drew Elyse just keeps delivering wonderful reads that keeps reminding me why I love this MC so much. I can't help but to keep coming back for more and looking forward to each and every word delivered.
The chemistry between Hook and Candy is one that everyone can see. Hook wants Candy with everything in him but Candy is fighting it and he is determined to find out why. Will she be willing to share? Will he be ready to hear her reasons? What happens when they both open up to each other? What happens when threats arise against the MC?
This MC will have you coming back for more and more each time. You will be hooked. Drew does such a great job with her story lines and characters and Hook and Candy's story is no different. I wanted to jump in and take him for myself that is for sure.
Oh my goodness how I have missed this series and these characters. The Savage Disciples has been one of my go-to re-read MC series since I started reading this series. So when this series was seemingly coming to come to an end, I was sadden by the fact we would no long have any more Savage Disciples. But as soon as I saw this novella was coming out I knew I had to jump on that and read it.
I'm going to be honest here and say that I honestly forgot who Hook was. And that makes me sad since I love all of the Disciples. But it might also have been the fact that through most of the series that Hook was a prospect, so he didn't really play a big part in the other books. Anyway's now Hook is a full pledged member of the disciples and he's also a fighter for Jager. Now that he's a full member he's determined to make the girl he's had his eyes on for awhile his girl.
Candy, and yes that's really her name. Candy is a girl who works as a dancer at the Disciples place The Candy Shop. Candy is getting ready to take over Avery's position & she makes no qualms about admitting that she's a patch chaser. But she also has one simple rule she lives by, but slowly finds herself breaking that rule with Hook.
I have to say that I really enjoyed Hook and Candy's story. They both came from basically the same backgrounds, but at the same time had extremely different experences with them. I loved this novella even though it was a bit bittersweet that it was so short. Also loved seeing appearences of the other guy's and gals of the Savage Disciples.
I received this book as an ARC in return for an honest review
I stumbled across Drew Elyse and her Savage Disciples MC almost two years ago. She instantly hooked me into the drama and emotion she brings to her writing. Her characters are so well balanced, and I’ve always loved that her MC, while it can be dirty, dangerous and lawless, isn’t over the top. When I caught wind that she had decided to do a Novella that featured Hook I was ready to jump on the chance to read it. Hook and Candy are both characters we have seen in the background of the other Savage Disciples books. So while we know who they are, we haven’t gotten to know them yet. Throttle also overlaps with Stone and Evie’s story from Cruise, so we still get to see the other Disciples we love so much but from another perspective. Throttle brought a lot of sexual tension from Hook and Candy. The push and pull between them comes crashing to a halt when an unexpected incident occurs which forces them to look at their relationship differently. Drew adds heat along with intimacy and a hint of dramatic flair that brings the story together. I’ve loved all the Savage Disciples books and Throttle keeps them as one of my all time favorite series.
Hook is a member of the Savage Disciples MC and when a party is thrown in his honor he is more than happy to have Candy dance for him. Besides being a member of the Savages MC he is also a successful fighter who grew up trying to protect his mom.
Candy grew up in an abusive home and hates violence and fighting and no matter how much she is attracted to Hook, his fighting is in the back of her mind.
Can Candy get over her aversion to fighting to give Hook a chance? When the Savage Disciples are having issues with another club will Candy be safe?
This is another great read in the series!
I liked Hook and I truly admired the reasons behind why he became a fighter. He was so protective over Candy and I loved the chemistry that the two of them had.
Candy was a great character and I also understood why she hated fighting so much. I loved her friendship with the other girls and how tight they all were.
The club stuff is definitely heating up in this book and I can't wait to see where it all goes! I love that the Savages are so opposed to drugs!!
Throttle (Savage Disciples MC Novella) by Drew Elyse Review ♡ 4✨ 2🌶
I really enjoyed this book!! It is very lighthearted and a fun read. I loved how it had such a good storyline. Hook and Candy were so perfect for each other and I just loved them together! I love an mc romance but sometimes you just crave a story that is on the shorter side but still amazing and this was definitely that!!
I loved how he was protective of her but such an alpha male when with others. I loved how feisty she was but also such a kind and sweet person. I also loved the chemistry they had and the sexual tension. I loved how she grew stronger in herself and grew as a person while healing from what happened to her. I loved how all the Disciples were so protective of her. I just love the Disciples family!! They are all so protective and sweet and I can’t wait to read the rest of the boys’ stories!
Everyone check out the Savage Disciples MC series if you like anything MC or tattooed alpha males. Also, check out the author Drew Elyse as I have read many of her books now and they are just so good!!

Drew Elyse slayed it with this short gem bringing the men from The Savage Disciples MC back with their newest patched in brother - Hook!
This book has all the action, steamy, sexy fun times you've come to expect. While novellas are sometimes harder for me to get into than full length novels, Ms. Elyse does an outstanding job with plot lines and character development.
Definitely worth all 5 stars, I can't wait to see what she brings with the next Sailor's Grave novel!!
Well just finished this series.. and I am sad that it’s over. Surely there are other members to find love... YES! What about Doc? and Roadrunner? Come on, let’s get their stories.. please? This is an awesome MC series. Lots of love, steam and smirks. HEA and no cliffs. Off to read about Kate now, that book, made me cry so hard. Hated that bit but I know she will get a HEA! ❤️
Awesome short novella that includes a quick love connection for the newest Disciple! Great story, would have liked a full book, the ending seemed almost incomplete.
Pretty tame for a MC book but very well written. Hook sounds like a dream man who has fallen hard for Candy. Both of their upbringings have a lot to be desired, but they both get their HEA in the end. Happy reading.
One of my favourite series! Love this mc and although this is a novella I loved candy & hook, would have loved them to be full length but their story fits in along side stones book.
Hook and Candy. Great couple both with past that is so similar it is spooky. The author pulls you in and holds onto you until the end of the story. You won't be disappointed in reading this book. I just wish they would have a book for Doc and Roadrunner.
I absolutely love this series. Another incredibly story. It feels like I got to spend some time with old and new friends. Hook and Candy are so sweet together.
This was a good novella. The was alot of retelling of Cruise since it took place at the same time but I loved Hook. He was solid and respectful, a really good man.
A yummy, steamy romance! To Hook, Candy lived up to her name in every way. “Glancing back her way, I saw Candy had her eyes on me. And f@*k me if that bit of resolve I’d just drummed up didn’t fracture. I hadn’t even had a taste yet, and still she made my mouth water.” To Candy, Hook was, “Unapologetic, brash, hot. He was my living breathing Achille’s heel.” They circled each other at every gathering. The chemistry is so strong it created a pull making them aware of the other’s every move. Unfortunately, every attempt Hook made, Candy rejected. No matter how much she wants him, she can’t give in. Growing up with a washed up fighter as a father who had no qualms using his fists to let Candy know he regretted her existence. Candy swore no fighters in her life EVER. “Some would call me shallow or vapid or a patch chaser. I called it being smart. Except the one Disciple I settled on wasn’t a smart choice at all. Because life was a f@*king joke that way sometimes, and I seemed to end up the punchline more often than I liked.” But Hook didn’t get where he is today, because he gave up easily. “Candy was both my opponent and my prize. And I never lost a fight.” “It wasn’t a dance. It was a f@#king battle, and I relished the knowledge that she was smearing that lipstick all over me like a badge of honor.” A steamy hot novella that proves if you are brave enough to open yourself up the beauty that could be….. sometimes, it is. I thoroughly enjoyed this delicious read!! I read an ARC of this story. My fair and honest review is voluntary.
I've read (and absolutely adored) the Sailor's Grave Series by this author, but totally missed the Savage Disciples MC books. (I will be correcting that ASAP!) This book was an emotional roller coaster! I couldn't help but catch feelings for Candy and Hook!
Candy has a past that would leave anyone with hangups galore. And she has plenty to share. She has worked hard to make a life for herself, and has made a place for herself among the Savage Disciples MC, loving the feeling of safety and family.
Hook knows from the first time he sees Candy that she is the one for him. But she blocks him at every turn, holding him at arms length, keeping them apart for a reason known only to her. But Hook is patient, and determined.
I absolutely loved this story! Hook and Candy are perfect for each other, and they have an undeniable chemistry, even when Candy is trying her best to avoid Hook. Their story is both heart-wrenching and heart-warming. It's a beautiful story that was full of love, hope and family!
