Taking a Chance

Garrett

Being the CEO of Infinity Gaming means that I’ve got a lot on my plate - and I’m so close to success on this shifter dating app I can taste it. I’m hoping that my new developer can work miracles with this code… but I’m not prepared for the temptation he works on my heart.

Carter

I can’t believe I’m really here. Following Garrett’s career as a teenager is what inspired me to become a developer, and now I’ve literally got my dream job. So you’d think life would be perfect, right? But between my old boss being just a bit creepy about trying to get me to come back to work for him and my new boss being just a bit too attractive for his own good, I think it’s safe to say I’m stuck between a rock and a very hard place.

Taking a Chance is a standalone mpreg shifter book featuring corporate espionage, an accidental pregnancy, and of course, a HEA sure to make your heart swoon. This book and every other book in the Hunter's Haven Series can be read in any order.

This was definitely fluff, not in a bad way mind you, it was exactly what I needed at the moment. It was an easy, almost completely angst-free ride with plenty of scorching hot sex plus knotting. I loved both MCs and since the story was hyper-focused on them the secondary people only showed up briefly as needed. Rob showed up just enough to get a nice introduction since his story is next. Over all this was a completely enjoyable and easy read.

DNF’ed at chapter 9, right when the characters began to get a bit hot-and-heavy.
Though the premise sounded interesting, I could not get into the story. I was just… underwhelmed by the MCs and their interactions. Yes, the story so far has been set predominantly at work, but I feel like I should be able to see what the characters are finding attractive in one another. But there was a lot of telling of traits, rather than showing them in action. Also, the author used the word “code” a lot. Possible a weird thing to complain about when both men are developers, but it felt like it was coming from a place of little information. It felt like the author didn’t do much research into the profession.
I also wasn’t a huge fan of the narration. So after changing the speed to 1.2 and still putting the book down for weeks, I felt like it was finally time to quit.

this book had everything I like:
* It was written by Liam Kingsley, one of my favourite authors
* A successful CEO who also happens to be an Alpha
* An Omega who as strong and powerful himself
* Fated Mates
* Omega pregnancy
* Not too many roadblocks for them to overcome

Garret is the CEO and brains behind Infinity Gaming and also an Alpha, he has been burnt before in a previous relationship, so trust does not come easy. After a lot of research, he has decided to do something different for his next launch, instead of a game, it will be a Dating App. In order for the Dating App to be launched on time, he needs some help.

This is where Carter comes in, Carter is a genius and programming is his speciality. He also happens to be a big Fanboy of Garrets.

There is an instant connection (of course because they are Fated) and after a roadblock or two, they make it happen.

I love these stories where the whole book isn’t consumed with roadblocks to the point where they only get together at the end. This book gives you instant attraction, Omegas going into Heat and love, lots of love. :)

This book is part of a series, this is the first book. There are only 5 books in the series, which I think is great because sometimes if there are too many books in the series then I can get bored.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Carter and Garrett. Garrett is the CEO of Infinity, a gaming company and he wants to expand his business into developing a dating app. Garrett is an alpha and when he meets Carter, he is instantly attracted to the omega. Carter was hired to write the code on Garrett's dating app and he has always had a bit of a crush on Garrett. Carter was hired from Garrett's competition and ex, and Garrett wanted to make sure word of the dating app didn't leak after his ex stole an idea for a game and left Garrett heartbroken and leery of trusting again. When Carter and Garrett started working together, they grew close and soon they couldn't fight their feelings any longer, especially when Carter went into heat. Things were going well until Garrett's ex started playing games, making Garrett even more nervous about trusting Carter. I liked this book and thought Garrett and Carter were great together, they had a lot in common. I liked that Garrett was concerned about him being Carter's boss and older, he was worried about taking advantage of Carter. I was also glad Garrett wanted to take Carter around the rest of the pack and how he fit in well. Good one.

Garrett is a successful CEO of a gaming company. He decides to shake things up and do something unexpected. He’s developing a dating app and he’s being hush hush about it since in the past he was screwed over by someone he thought he could trust. Garrett his hoping the new developer he hired can work miracles with coding and get this app off the ground.

Carter is trying to not act like a fan boy when faced with his new boss and mentor. He’s been following Garrett’s career since he was a teenager. So to be not only face to face with him, but working side by side with him is beyond a dream come true.

Once Carter got to know Garrett better and the stigma of the fandom subsided he realized that this is truly his dream job. He’s doing what he loves and Garrett is great to work for. There’s only one problem...Carter is attracted to Garrett to the point of distraction. It’s doesn’t take long for him to think the feeling is mutual.

Garrett and Carter work well together, inside and outside of the office. But Garrett has been hurt in the past. He’s hoping he can get passed it all and make things work with Carter because he can actually see a future with him.

Great start to a new series. I wonder who’s book will be next. Hmmm

Garrett has made it big he’s the CEO of one of the top gaming companies in the world but now he’s branching out on a dating app it’s called Mate.Com, tonight Garrett is in a cabin with his pack mates for the full moon so they have a chance to shift without any humans being around. Garrett wasn’t interested in dating since his ex stole one of his ideas and Garrett’s company took a bad hit but with his new employee Carter Banks who Garret hasn’t even met yet hopefully they will get it done on time. Carter was starting his new job today at Infinity Games he was very excited and if it wasn’t for Garrett Carter wouldn’t of pursued his dream of developing games in the first place and having a crush on his idol doesn’t hurt either. When Garrett meets Carter he couldn’t believe how gorgeous Carter is but he can’t do that again he can’t mix business with pleasure look what happened the last time his ex stole from him, and he and Carter were going to work long nights closely together so he needs to get this app out in time. This is such a fantastic m/m story I enjoyed it immensely and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Garrett had great success in the gaming industry, starting at a young age. Relationship wise though, Vaughn had betrayed him, stolen a game design, and continued to battle him on the legal front.

Will Vaughn manage to do damage to the latest project from Garrett - and maybe mess up a good relationship along the way?

Carter had idolized and had a serious crush on Garrett since he was a teenager. A genius coder, he previously worked for the company Vaughn had developed, but jumped at an opening he saw posted to work with Garrett.

Little did he know he really would be working directly with Garrett. And little did they both realize the connection they would make together - as well as the hooks Vaughn still had in certain people at the company.

Betrayal is rough, ad can be confusing.

Successful gaming design and company management rely on trusting the right people - and Garrett just needs to put his heart and mind to the right thing to find his happiness all around.

Steamy May/ December m/m shifter romance - a great KU read!

I thought Garrett and Carter were cute together. They have a great working relationship that helps to build their romantic relationship. The romance was a bit too fast for my taste, I wish we got to see a bit more of their interactions before their relationship jumped into the physical, but if you like the "fated mates" trope then this actually works okay.

I liked that even with the immense physical attraction between these two, Garrett does struggle with starting a physical relationship with someone who worked for him (both from a ethical and a potentially legal stand-point). There was a bit of a blowup between Garrett and Carter that I thought was a bit over the top. I wish there had been a bit more groveling from Garrett, even though like Carter I can understand how Garrett's past influenced his actions. I did see at least part of the twist coming very early on, so there wasn't much surprise there, but the plot was still enough to keep me entertained.

I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

This book was somewhat what i expected from a short story.

I liked it, didn't break any barriers for me though. I'd like to think this book is very 'chicken soup' is what my brain goes to. Easy to consume and good enough.

There wasn't a lot of world building to get me to care too much about the conflict, it was all very quick, which is fine, its a short book. I couldn't really relate to the conflict or story at all as maybe too much was tried for a book that wasnt intended to be long enough to get you invested.

The romance was easily consumable, quick start and Erotic. You do need to have some familiarity with the shifter genre though. A lot of the basic from shifter are used in this story as a default, so doesn't try anything new with it. Meaning there's male slick, knotting, omegas in heat, full moon shifting, alphas and fated mates.

Wasnt a big fan of the Erotic moments, i think it could have been longer and more descriptive. I didnt really get any relief from the romance when any Erotic moment happened as it sorta rushed all the time.

Overall I still recommend it if you need a easy read. =)

It was a pleasure to read this exceptionally, well-written heartwarming MM shifter romance. The story-line & plot is interesting, well-written & intriguing with well-developed characters that have distinctive, individual personalities.
There is: a male wolf shifter & CEO of “Infinity Games” with bad memories & betrayal from a past relationship (Garrett Steele), the betrayer & direct competition (Vaughn Smythe, the CEO of Thunderbolt Games) a young wolf shifter & new employee with a crush (Carter Banks), wolf shifters, a pack, a dating app, some twists & turns, intrigue, corporate espionage, trust issues, attractions, verbal banter, a gaming challenge, complications, apologies, friendly advice, unexpected heat, discovery, confusion, fated mates, admittance, phone calls, accusations, misunderstandings, heartbreak, anguish, suspicions, discovery, realization, innocent victim, apologies, acceptance, a wonderful surprise, happiness, love, steamy scenes & a happy well-deserved epilogue.
I definitely would recommend this MM shifter romance to people who enjoy reading this genre.

This was a very enjoyable afternoon read for me. I was pleasantly surprised by the subtle divergences from some of the plot elements that are often seen in shifter romances and finding mates. It steered the focus of the story completely toward the main characters, their histories, their current lives, their feelings, and what made them tick -- primarily as people, not primarily as shifters. I liked the interactions between Carter and Garrett -- their dialogues, their shared excitement when geeking out on their coding, their subtle and good-natured tete-a-tete conversations, their teasing and testing of each other that was only possible when one genius mind met its match. It was well-written, and I learned a lot about their characters without any kind of narration that fed the information to me. I found that to be very refreshing. I'm interested to see what happens next in the series, as there was also enough information and introduction given about secondary characters to more than adequately tease the next books.

Garrett was dealt a bad hand when his ex boyfriend literally stole from him. But it;s been a year and he;s moved on to the next step. He has his HR woman look for someone to work with him on this next step. Enter Carter, a young twenty year old whose role model in the computer business has been Garrett. The two work together closely. One night Carter and Garrett come together. Garrett is horrified because he is the employer and Carter works for him. This is a pr nightmare in the making. But the damage is done, at least in Garrett;s mind. Then Carter starts to receive calls from his former boss, who is Garrett;s ex. Too many secrets and too much distrust. How do they survive when Garrett is still very leery.
Fantastic read and story about two men not realizing they are about to find what they haven;t been seeking.

What do you get when you put two geniuses together? Groundbreaking code, competitive gaming, and a whole lotta hot! Garret and Carter’s story is a fun, quick romp through a major app release, trust issues, and corporate espionage. Throw in an ill-timed heat and a cute baby and you have an enjoyable story.

Note that this story is not very long, approximately two hours of reading, and as such there is not as much story building as there could have been. There are subplots that are barely touched or handled in a “oh by the way” manner. That being said, you do get to know Garret and Carter very well, and Garret’s pack well enough to carry the story. Overall a very entertaining story (kept me engaged enough that I finished in one sitting) with constant movement and a satisfying HEA.

Garret had been betrayed in the past by someone he trusted so decided to never trust anyone like that again and had no intentions of ever letting his guard down ever again until after stepped into his life and changed everything. He had hired Carter on to help with a dating app he had been working on and hiring Carter on had been the best decision he ever made until he was left to question Carter's loyalty to him and the company. Once again his awful ex was out to destroy his life and he was just hoping Carter didn't have any part of it. I really enjoyed this one. It was an office romance between a coworker and his boss and a bit of an age gap but only by 10 years. It was a really cute, fun and sweet story between two people who didn't expect to find love and especially not their fated mate.

Garrett Steele is an alpha wolf and CEO of Infinity Games, one of the country's top gaming companies. In need of a new developer to help design a secretive project, the HR department hires Carter Banks, a young and brilliant omega wolf who Garrett has been attracted to since the moment they met.

Being his boss, Garrett tries to deny his feeling and fight the attraction he feels for him to protect himself since his last relationship ended in heartbreak and betrayal.

I read this book all in one sitting! I couldn't put it down! The twist was subtle and you catch it really early on, but it in no way took away from the emotional impact and the tension building in the story. I will definitely read the rest of the series!

When your baggage gets so heavy it slows movement, set it down! Really nice quick story. Garrett has large baggage that prevents him from trusting others. He hires, Carter to help with a project. While testing, they enjoy a fast paced competition that allows them to get to know each other. Enter Garrett's ex who tries to throw a wrench at Garrett. Can he finally set his baggage down? Can Garrett finally open himself to Carter? Is Carter still interested? Mr Kingsley brought the humor and fun to this story. Garrett and Carter were absolutely delightful Good job! Such a cute book. I loved how nerdy both characters were. I consider myself pretty nerdy as well so it was cool to see. I love how excited they both got over coding and whenever they would make a breakthrough when they encountered a bug. Of course, since Garrett is Carter’s boss, he tries not to show his attraction to Carter but struggles to not act on it. And Carter has idolized Garrett since he was a teen and was inspired by him to learn code. Garrett worries that Carter is too young and he would be taking advantage of him. But when Carter goes into heat, all bets are off and the sparks fly.

Garrett hires Carter to help develop his new dating app. and is surprised how well they match.
After a string of hit games Garrett Steele is ready for something different a dating app. Realizing how much work is involved he hires a new developer Carter Banks. The young man he meets is good looking and Garret feels drawn to him and when they work together their minds seem to align. Carter has hero worshiped Garrett since he was a teen and finds working with him beyond what he could imagine. A MM MPreg romance to relax and enjoy.

DNF 48% i DNFed a Liam book?? i guess so.

This must be ghost written cuz it's not the kind of writing im familiar with at all. Too much tell and not show. And when the entire heat is done off page with just 1 shown to establish the weird have-sex-find-fated-mate thing, then there is no point reading about copious amounts of workplace stuff (not even banters, just stuff). i couldn't even see how love blossomed between these two even before the heat (if you could call it that) bcuz there was nothing happening except work. So disappointed.

If Liam's book won't work then, i don't think there's any other author i can turn to. :'(

Garrett meets his new employee, Carter but he can’t seem to keep his eyes off him. Will the attraction be mutual?

Carter and Garrett were sweet and I enjoyed watching both of them trying to keep their desire for each other in check. These two Carter had smoking hot chemistry which only intensified the more these two tried to ignore the pull between them.

A good read with likeable characters. The epilogue tied things up nicely for the couple.

Garrett and Carter are such a perfect match for each other, they compliment, enrich, fulfill, and desperately love each other. It is easy to feel their connection. As employer and employee, they fight the instant attraction they feel, but cannot hold out for long.
I absolutely loved this story, it has great characters and an interesting storyline. There are trust issues, a nasty ex, deception, great friends, laughs, a powerful connection, true love, and a satisfyingly sweet HEA.

This book is a great start to a new series, with great characters and an interesting plot line. I thought Carter's stars-in-his-eyes initial reaction to working with his idol, Garrett was cute and sweet. They work well together, and then the heat ramps up. There are some complications and trust issues, the result of Garrett's thieving, betraying ex, and Garrett struggles some with starting a relationship with an employee as well. Strong writing, and well edited, too.

This is a sweet story that I really enjoyed. Garrett has a very hard time trusting after his ex but his new employee, Carter, is hard to resist. As they work together developing a new app, their attraction grows stronger each day and becomes impossible to ignore. But when something goes wrong, it's up to Garrett to believe that Carter didn't betray him or he just might lose the best thing that has ever happened to him. The narrator did a great job with this story and with the portrayal of all of the different characters. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audiobook.

This book is full of inconsistencies. It's a little bit original for a werewolf story but not enough to be extraordinary. There were a lot of things that I found cliché and overused in it but that's fine, although I skipped five or six chapters when I guessed the ending. Glad I did, the ending came out just as I expected it to be, what was truly disappointing.

2 ** stars, it's readable but nothing that I won't forget at the second I start reading another book.

I really enjoy reading anything that Mr. Kingsley puts out, and I usually don't make comments, but this book was just to good not to say Anything! I enjoyed the build up of the sexual tension, the sense of humor, and last but not least the sex and then love. I definitely enjoyed this book and I can't wait for the next one of this series.
