I'm not sure what to make of this book. Devereux is very careful to build up an argument that UFOs are due to phenomenon here on earth, that our speculation about extra-terrestrials is missing some corollary aspects as to their sightings.

He ends with a kind of Julian Jaynes- kind of conclusion - that the mystery lies within us, that we haven't really fully understood our place in the world yet, and thus come to see the mystery as outside us, in the Other. His remarks about past relationships with energies and past cultural relics is interesting, but as of yet, none too conclusive.

Still, it's an interesting look at something very bizzare. Certainly, Devereux is creative if nothing else.
