What a clever approach to teaching kids the difference between 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional objects!

Right from the first page, the approach here is so practical:

"Would you rather look at a picture of your
birthday present or
open a real present?"

The text then goes on to explain practical differences between 2-D and 3-D.

In this book, the text is actually far more informative than the usual professional photographs. No wonder I have shelved this book under WRITING as well as NONFICTION and FIVE STARS!

Titles in the Rookie Read-About Math series use realistic settings, sharp photos and brief, simple text to help lower-primary students grasp math concepts. In A 3-D Birthday Party readers are introduced to the concept of 3-D shapes. Each title is written in a clear, step-by-step manner that should be easily followed by 1st- and 2nd-graders, and features an index and a “Words You Know” page to reinforce learning. This is a solid series for introducing math concepts to the youngest set.

Having been a fan of other titles in the "Rookie Read-About Math" series, this one was a dud. If the 39 year old reading it was confused, were the preschoolers getting it? Skip it and try a different title from the series.
