Nina and Daniel are struggling to remember all they once were to each other, all the pasts they have lived and what their destiny will be. Together, with their team, they will need to save the world from eminent destruction. As the clock ticks down Nina and Daniel will try to make the most of being together again, even as they remember all those they have loved and lost.

Karen Janowsky’s ALL OUR YESTERDAYS is part suspenseful adventure as seemingly “normal” people fight against evil as contemporary superheroes, but the rhythm was often broken by the constant sexual banter that bordered on teenage locker room bravado, not to mention the intimate moments between Nina and Daniel.

For me, erotica is enticing, a little naughty, and filled with passionate descriptions and moments. The moments between Nina and Daniel (and others), were almost too clinical, too stiff and just off for me, particularly as after so many interludes, they should have felt more magical.

All in all, I loved the action, was lukewarm on the passion.

I received a complimentary copy from Karen Janowsky.

All Our Yesterdays is the second book in Karen Janowsky’s The Persistence of Memory series, and it was a fun second book. Although I’m still not crazy about the romance between main characters, I really enjoyed the way in which the story developed throughout this one.

With All Our Yesterdays, a lot is added to the series. We get more details about many of the different aspects introduced to us in the first book, we get some answers, things move forward well, and new questions are introduced. As I was desperate to see how things came together, I powered my way through this second book in search of answers.

In fact, this one took us in some unexpected directions. There were things introduced throughout this book I had not expected, and I loved this. It made it action-packed and kept me reading. I’m certainly hoping for more of this in the final book.

Overall, All Our Yesterdays was an enjoyable second book and I cannot wait to see what the final book brings.

We re-join Daniel and Nina in their adventures. I really enjoyed the action, it was exciting and kept me eager to see what's next. The romance wasn't my favourite, but they have some fun banter. There were more steamy scenes in this one than the first and I did enjoy watching their relationship grow and evolve.
I'm enjoying the mix of superheroes, some mytholoygy, and time travel. The action kept me hooked moreso in this one than the first. I'm looking forward to the third.

A highly imaginative novel that is filled with references to mythology and different Gods. The author is able to seamlessly transport different store lines, back and forth, from the past, The Bronx in 1932... World War 2 and the Holocaust, to the present which is 2012. There are many sexually explicit scenes... Maybe one too many in my opinion, but then we are dealing with Gods and there is a Goddess of love.

In “All Our Yesterdays,” the second book in Karen Janowsky’s genre-bending masterpiece trilogy, “The Persistence of Memory,” we follow our heroes, Daniel and Nina, as they battle against monsters, internal betrayals, and other forces arrayed against them who are determined not only to break them apart, but to destroy the world and all of history. The battle and action sequences are some of the best fight-scenes in any genre that I’ve ever read. As well, the romance and steamy erotica sizzle and are rendered with a careful attention to underlying emotions. There’s no gratuitous sex here—each instance deepens our understanding of the characters, of their relationship, and moves the plot forward. The secondary characters are also carefully drawn. Some are lovable, some detestable, but all are three-dimensional; each has their flaws and redeeming qualities. Another great thing about Ms. Janowsky’s books is that she’s mastered the discipline of a “series.” Each book, so far, has its own satisfying plot-line and yet still manages to move the overarching plot forward. The characters also continue to grow from book to book not only as individuals, but as a couple. The relationship between Nina and Daniel is a romantic tale of epic love across great spans of space and time that’s breathtaking. Top-tier writing here that I couldn’t put down. On to the third (and hopefully not last) book in the series!

All Our Yesterdays is the second book in the series The Persistence of Memory, continuing the story of Nina and Daniel. The book is again an erotic and adventurous one. I really liked the sexual banter between Nina and Daniel, their angst came out in their characters as their old memories resurfaced.
But the addition of new variables in Daniel’s life in the form of a person who used to mean a lot to him added the necessary intrigue. Moreover, their team must try saving the world from impending danger. They must join forces to destroy the weapon capable of mass destruction.
To be honest, there was more action in this book than passion but that really impacted the writing, especially the dynamics between Nina and Daniel. One of my previous complaints about seeing Nina grow as a character was addressed but I thought that the two characters became stiffer in this book. The occasional erotica was passionate but other than that the usual moments could have been written better.
The book did get a little emotional in parts but it didn’t move me too much.
The plot was better in this book and I kept flipping the pages keeping up with the story, wanting to know more. It is a good sequel to Deja Vu.

Enjoyable Read

In spite of needing a bit more editing, I found myself hook, line, and sinker being drawn into this story. Began reading it last evening and finished reading it this evening. Janowsky certainly knows how to keep the pages turning. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy urban fantasy, super heroes, and lots of sexual behaviour - wowsy! I'm curious on how this story ends so I've bought book 3 which I'm sure I will enjoy.

Have you ever read the second book in a series and you actually liked it better than the first one? That’s how I feel about All Our Yesterdays.

“Tell me anything you want. Tell me every burden you carried, and I will carry some of it for you.”

Love is hard, even for superheroes.
Nina and Daniel have never known any destiny other than fighting their separate masters’ wars. Now, a secretive organization is creating a weapon that will collapse history. Their fight is to stay together. It takes them on a journey around the world and into another dimension.

Oh my, I want to talk about so many scenes but I want all my reviews to be spoiler-free. Okay, let’s just hope you wouldn’t get spoiled while I explain how this book enchanted me.

If you read my review for Déjà Vu, the first installment of The Persistence of Memories series, you must notice that I hoped for more action scenes and some spotlight for the side characters. Well, I didn’t get to see much from the other characters, just glimpses to support the story and the main characters BUT I did get more action scenes and holy guacamole, IT WAS AMAZING. I went to awesome, secret places to searched for holy artifacts to prevent the end of the world.

More punches and kicks from the and that also mean more superpower on display! I really loved how Nina, as an awesome and strong lady that she is, keep showing everybody that she would not cower and would keep fighting. Even though she is ‘special’ (no spoiler, so you have to read the book to understand what I mean), she didn’t use her privileges to get what she wants. She fought and bleed just like her friends.

“Sometimes love has to be selfish. Sometimes love is more powerful than wisdom, or even duty, by necessity.”

It’d feel incomplete to talk about Nina but not Daniel. At the beginning of the book, I felt a little bit annoyed by him, I don’t know why. One thing he never seemed to control is his jealousy. Okay, I get it, everyone is attracted to your girl, but dude, chill out. But thankfully, as the story goes, that feeling is gone. He grew more mature and understanding of his relationship with Nina. He truly loved and respected her, it’d never ceased to amaze me.

Also, ROMANCE! I’m swoon over by how their relationship took to a whole new level. I really liked and support them together. Unfortunately, Janowsky focused more on how the romance progressed than the danger that comes to doom the world. Hold on, that doesn’t mean there weren’t any developments on how they handle the problem. There is one plot twist that I didn’t see it coming, it surprised me in a very good way because I love great unexpected twists.

“I will never stop loving you. I will never stop saving you, whether you need it or not.”

I got romance, action, and of course, humor! Oh, I can’t forget a particularly hilarious scene from the first book and now I got a funnier one! I really liked how Janowsky slipped one big awkward accident and lighten the mood of the situation. I can’t wait to know what the accident would be in the final book. And there is one part that I really loved but I can’t talk about it here. It was awesome to get a peek to a different world and to experienced everything from Daniel’s POV felt magical.

Overall, I really enjoyed All Our Yesterdays. It was fun, fantastic, mind-blowing! This book is my favorite from the series so far. I can’t wait to read the final book and see how it will ends. I hope it concluded wonderfully. If you’ve read Déjà Vu, you definitely need to read this book. And if you’re new to this series and enjoy superheroes, romance, and adult fantasy, you need to check The Persistence of Memory trilogy now!

In Déjà vu, the first book of the series we see Daniel Hecht, a war hero and team leader of an underground group of superpowers misfits, finds himself strangely attracted to a new recruit, Nina Asher, after meeting her for the first time. Other than the strong pull they feel toward each other, they have something else in common as well; Nina has no recollection of her past, and Daniel is missing memories of several decades of his life. As they work together to unlock an ancient myth, they experience strange flashbacks from their pasts. To save the world, they must recollect their earlier lives.

Readers hooked on the romantic struggles of Daniel and Nina in Déjà Vu will ecstatically devour the second installment in the series, All Our Yesterdays. As memories of their past lives resurface fully, Nina and Daniel join forces to destroy a secret weapon capable of mass destruction. Daniel’s earlier convictions shatter as someone from his past whom he loved dearly returns. The time to save the world is running out, and the couple is unaware of the ultimate sacrifices; they’re required to make for the sake of their love.

The third installment, The Beginning of Always, sees the couple overwhelmed with intense emotions of desire, passion, jealousy, and possessiveness while fighting to save the world. The main draw in the series is Daniel and Nina’s passionate longing for each other and the sense of melancholy, which is an integral part of their love.

The melancholy dominates all three books in the series and gives the story a haunting feel. Janowsky has this ability to create a gripping narrative which is rich with details and shines with romantic intrigue. Classic themes of love and sacrifice add emotional vigor to the theme. The fantasy element is light in the story with romance taking the centre stage.

The characterization is thorough with Janowsky giving a clear and recognizable voice to several secondary characters including those with barely any presence in the story; Ishtar and Nimbanda. Janowsky paints a convincing portrait of the misfit superpowers, who with their humane afflictions struggle to attain order in a world full of chaos. The last two books in the series are heavy on intense love making, which slow down pace of the story sometimes. But fans of romance will love the couple’s sensual journey of discovery, which is erotic without being crass.

Daniel and Nina are no longer the shy, hesitant characters introduced in the first book in The Persistence of Memory series. They are now a serious couple who can’t keep their hands off of each other, much to the delight of their playful, teasing co-workers and teammates. Now that Nina knows who she is, she now faces the sad fact that her immortality means that her time with Daniel is limited. Meanwhile, Daniel questions whether his attraction to Nina is the result of true love or as part of her natural ability to cause men to lust after her. He feels like a different person around her, and having never acclimated completely to his super soldier form, this makes him even more uncomfortable in his own skin. But the reemergence of a character from Daniel’s past causes him to put all doubts aside as he must step up to protect Nina from being taken back home to Uruk and to stop his past friend/present enemy from using the magic of her world to reset the past and erase their reality as they know it.

Opinion:
All Our Yesterdays is a strong follow-up to the ongoing story in this series. The flashbacks of Daniel and Nina’s past lives help to broaden the reader’s understanding of these characters and where they come from. The romance elements play a much more graphic and detailed part in continuation with the final chapter of Déjà Vu, lingering on the detailed exploration of Daniel and Nina’s physical relationship as they learn how to be a modern couple. Those in it strictly for the romance side of the story will find this a welcome addition to the narrative, but story wise, it does little to move the plot forward.

The action sequences usually begin mid-battle, causing the reader to have to catch up to what’s going on. But the mastermind behind these attacks makes for a rich and poignant plot twist along with their encounter with Nina’s homeland, forcing both Daniel and Nina to make tough decisions that will affect not only their relationship but also the potential fate of the world. While book one was about the characters coming to terms with who they are, book two is about reconciling their past selves with their present ones, concluding in a shocking decision that will shape their future.

Despite its shift in focus to a traditional romance angle, there are still some great plot developments, even better character developments, and a continued curiosity as to how it’s all going to end for Daniel and Nina.

Nina and Daniel are together working with others in their super hero group to save the world and find the missing artifact pieces before the big bad group finds them and puts them together to change the world.

This story is very jumpy, at one moment fighting bad guys and retrieving artifacts, then intimate sex scenes, then back to the past.

*** SPOILERS to come***

In the previous book Daniel was very shy and uptight about all things intimate. In this one, you can't go very few pages without Daniel and Nina having sex. Every once and a while there's a nod to Daniel's conservatism but mostly he comes out as a completely different person. I kept waiting for something to explain this radical change but it never comes.

Turns out a person from his past is involved with the Nazi and religious zealot groups and he's the one leading the charge. This story line seems to be mostly tease in this book and hopefully will lead someone in the next book.

As I read this story I kept asking myself where is this going? why are characters so out of character, it left for an unsettling read. There's a lot of mythos and dangling threads. I did enjoy most of Daniel and Nina's romance forming stronger bonds but ended the book feeling incomplete.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the author and the above is my honest review.

This novel has an extremely fun premise, which is of a man who has fallen in love with a demigoddess and the complications involved therein. There were times when I felt a little lost in what was going on, but I imagine this is due to my not having read Book One in the series. There are also times when the story feels like an interlude between sex scenes, but I have a hard time faulting any book too much for that. Last thing I’ll complain about is the abundance of typos, grammar errors, and odd paragraph indentions which could be more than a little confusing at times. (This is my only reason for giving the novel 4 stars rather than 5.)

Nonetheless, this book is a blast, combining a Wonder Woman-esque romance plot with gods, goddesses, and monsters with some espionage, nazis, and sci-fi thrown in. It's amazing how a writer can make characters come alive and feel so 3 dimensional with such simple writing. I was not bored for a single page. One of my favorite books of the year…

I enjoyed this book much more than I did the first one. The plot was well thought out and the action was thrilling. The action sequences were fast paced and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Nina and Daniel go through more character growth this novel and it keeps the plot moving forward.

I wasn't as keen on the romance between Nina and Daniel this go around, it seemed stiffer and less authentic. That being said I flew through this book and finished it in record time. I'm excited to see book three and how that author wraps up the series. This was a fantastic sequel!

I received a copy of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Great second story

Janowsky's Persistence of Memory books are definitely worth the read. I've read the first one, and they should be read in order, and I enjoyed that one as well. Janowsky's All Our Yesterdays is another story about Daniel and Nina, and the battle that is not just about the monsters. It's a grand story of superheroes that are no ordinary superheroes. There is a bit of discovery and romance, and even strain with tragedy and triumphs. I liked the depth of the characters and the chemistry, with flaws, strengths, and humanity. Look forward to reading book 3.

Book 2- Whereas I found it difficult to connect with the characters, I did not have that issue in book 2. Again the author blends science fiction with mythology and passion between the two lovers. She, the author, does a good job of blending the genres and this book really turns the male/female sexual interaction from a passionate to erotic at least for me. There is a lot of action, slow-building teaching, and worthy reveals.

Better than the first

This second outing with Daniel and Nina digs deeper into both their histories and their future together, which is built on her history... And it goes way back. The action, superhero and erotic, is better than the first and sets up a Grand finale to come in book three.

Love this book just like the first one. Great mix of history, romance, time travel, friendships and action. Warning; you want to keep reading, it is hard to put the book down. Karen Janowsky did a great job developing this story and keeping it unpredictable. So glad there is another book in this series!

This story sweeps around like a dust devil.

Admittedly, The Persistence of Memory series is not my typical read, however, I enjoyed this fantasy. It is fast paced, unless it's in a part of the story you don't want to be fast, then it as prolonged as you'd like it to be. At first glance, I was a little put off by the title's heist of Salvador Dali's 1931 painting, but it turns out that Dali apparently coined a common phrase.

I enjoy a story that involves history, or has a past with historical significance, and Book 2 of this series delivers on that. The only complaint I had was Janowsky's overuse of eclipses. Sometimes there were 4 or 5 on one page, but I didn't let that take away from the adventures. Overall, if you enjoy a good and sometimes-steamy fantasy, give Janowsky a chance.
