Everything has changed, except the way he looks at me.

He's the boy from that summer ten years ago.

We're almost strangers.

We're way more than friends.

He still plays guitar.

I still paint.

He makes me laugh.

I make him forget.

He might just be my soulmate but,

I'm not sure I can take that chance.

Because maybe you can let your past go...

But what if your past won't let you go?

I really cannot praise this book enough. It has everything you want and more in a novel. Jaxson Kidman just keeps on raising the bar with his writing. Getting Over You is his best work. Ever. Josie and Crosby will stay with you always. Their individual stories are devastating but as they try to come to terms with them can they build a new, happier story together? Loss, grief, pain, anger, all laced through with love and need. I cried a lot reading this book. I could feel the emotions of the characters as I read. I was right there with them. The secondary characters are perfectly weaved into the story and I absolutely adore one of them in particular. Another absolute masterpiece by an author who connects to you through his writing with seeming ease. 5 Stars isn’t nearly enough. Read this book, you will not be sorry.

Even the best intentions can backfire and change your life completely. One tragic mistake would change Crosby, and his life, forever.
Crosby is haunted by a past he can never escape. He pays for it by punishing himself on a daily basis.
Josie is getting by. She's had her fair share of fate, taking out it's twisted pleasure on her, and now she lets it have free reign.
Josie is minding her own business when she meets Crosby. This guy is ripped, gorgeous and sweaty. They've met before, in her previous life, the one she was in control of...well, sort of.
Crosby wrote songs he deemed worthy of someone else's voice. Not his. Josie painted beautiful paintings, but kept them to herself. Both numb and riddled with guilt over circumstances beyond their control. Maybe they could have done something to change the outcome on the day everything went to s**t. Maybe not. But just maybe together, they could heal.
GRITTY, INTENSE AND POWERFUL ! ! !
AMAZING, ORIGINAL STORY WITH WELL WRITTEN CHARACTERS THAT COME TO LIFE AND DRAW YOU INTO THEIR WORLD ! A RAW, EMOTIONAL JOURNEY THAT WILL TAKE YOU OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE ! JAXSON'S WRITING WILL LEAVE YOU TOTALLY CAPTIVATED AND WANTING MORE ! I LOVED💕 EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK ! ! ! AWESOME FROM BEGINNING TO END ! ! !

Once again Mr. Kidman takes you on an epic journey of heartbreak, guilt, pain, love, and forgiveness. With a real & raw storyline, and characters that you can't help but get attached to, this book will stay with you long after you read the last word. I think, dare I say it, this may be his best work since 5 years later.

Painful, emotion, love, and heartache

The very 1st chapter pulled me in. I wanted to know what happened to "him". Crosby lost his nephew to a tragic accident and punished himself for it for so long it was all he knew. Then one day he sees Josie, who also has a painful past with an alcoholic boyfriend who ended up dead. Throughout this book Josie was the best thing to ever happen to Crosby. She never let him get away with anything. Reading how these two dealt with each of their situations at the same time as getting to know each other and lean on each other tore at my heart. There are so many raw emotions in this story. I wanted to take all their pain away. Jaxson, as always, did it again. Another emotionally gripping book. He pulls you in from the beginning and holds onto your heart through out the book. He tears it out and puts it back. The one character I really fell in love with was Meadow, Josies niece. She is such a smart girl with such attitude. She tells you how it is. Way to go Jaxson. Another major hit. Highly recommend this book. If I could give it 1000 stars I would. Buy it and read it. You will be so glad you did.

Learning to live and love again

From the Prologue to the last Paige of this book I was hooked and did not want this book to end. My Heart broke for both Crosby and Josie, you felt as if you were there with these two people who are going through hurt, pain and sorrow in there life, Crosby is on a self distracting route punishing himself and withdrawing from everyone and everything he ever wanted in life, because he feels that is what he deserves. Josie can’t find closure because she feels it was taken away from her when the man she loved dies. These two souls survive each day but aren’t living life, until they meet each other. When they recognise each other from a long time ago being neighbours once. They find peace and comfort in each other and learn to live again. Then there is Meadow, Josies 8 year old niece who brings some humour into this book which is perfect. This book made me smile, laugh and cry and it will stay with me for a very long time. This is my favourite book by Jaxson Kidman, I say this every time I read a book by this author he always comes up with new ways to amaze me. To me this is a must read without a doubt and I rate this book 5***** would give more

Amazingly phenomenal read

They say time heals all wounds...but can two people that are so damaged find a way to heal those wounds? It started as a summer love, even though they never actually met. They never saw each other after that summer, and both suffered losses that changed their lives forever...or so they thought. Through a chance encounter, they meet again and realize that they know each other from that long ago summer. They help each other slowly heal and come to realize that maybe they are soulmates and that just maybe, true love can help heal all wounds. This is hands down the most heart wrenching story that Kidman has written. The main characters pull at your heart strings, while the secondary characters also steal the spotlight. This is definitely a must read, that I will be reading over and over again!

GETTING OVER YOU By Jaxson Kidman
I have found Jaxson Kidman has such a wonderful gift in his writing that he is able to make you feel like you are almost a part of it as if you are watching what is happening. Since I have found his books, I have enjoyed every one but now he has taken his writing to a whole new level! I feel like this is his best work yet!
Oh my gosh! What can I say about this book that adequately describes it? Crosby and Josie saw each other regularly as neighbors on opposite balconies, but never met. He played guitar and she painted. As adults both are dealing with their own devastating history. I want you to read this yourself, so I am not going to give anything away. This story is real, raw, painful, will bring tears to the eyes, heartbreak, guilt, intensity, & forgiveness, hope, love and passion. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars as it is certainly well deserving of more! Congratulations Jaxson on a great read, you really hit this one out of the ballpark!!!

Ghosts Never Leave

Two tortured souls drowning in grief, pain, resentment, and loss. Neither understood their own pain but could see the other slipping away.

Crosby and Josie sorta met years ago, silently through time and glimpses out a window. Nothing ever transpired. Time marched on.

Crosby is part of an unfortunate event that completely changes him. He pushes and pulls simultaneously. Josie is the same. Lost and can't seem to find her way. Each giving into a vice that accidentally brings them together again. Neither realizing the saving grace they've been given.

Kidman gives us a look into how devastating circumstances can be. When Crosby finally immersed his soul and grief and literally and figuratively tried to cleanse himself was soul stirring.

When your other half is as broken as you are, can you find your way together? Get on or get over...

Getting Over You is a compelling story, an emotional tear-jerker, dealing with love, life and loss.

Crosby and Josie are both hurting, punishing themselves for each losing someone they loved, unable to move forward.

Following a chance encounter, despite the instant connection, they’re determined to keep their defensive walls up. Little by little, that wall crumbles, and they begin to give themselves a chance to really live.

A fantastically written story, that draws you in, plays on your emotions, and stays with you after. A collection of characters that you can relate to, and the delightful old-before-her-time Meadow was a comedic relief.

Jaxson, you always put me through the emotional wringer .... and I wouldn’t want it any other way 🖤

Jaxson Kidman really knows how to write tales full of emotion, tragedy and challenging circumstances. This book tells the story of Crosby and Josie and the struggles they all face. I found the characters to be realistic and remarkable in their drives and determination to correct situations that cannot be fixed. They have shared history that inspired the other but they didn't talk at the time and then meet again by chance.
The book is so well written and emotionally charged that it left me emotionally drained but wanting to read the book again.

Jaxson Kidman has delivered yet another book with the brilliance that we have come to look forward to.

I was caught right from the first page as I read how Crosby and Josie first met and how they met again after so many years. I loved how Jaxson brought them back together. They each had their own tragedies in their lives and had lost themselves along the way, and it was so real, heartbreaking, but totally understandable how they dealt with those feelings.

And a star of the show in a lot of ways…Meadow!
I was in stitches at times with things that she said, but she also made me feel very emotional in how her mind worked too. Such a wonderful character!

Stock up on the usual provisions, get ready for the wave of emotions, buckle up and enjoy the ride!

A story of love, heartbreak, and healing. Jaxson does it again

This is my favorite thus far. Jaxson tells a story of stranger finding love through their pain, while telling a story of family and heart. With his words you really get a deep connection to the main characters, but also the other characters in the story. You find yourself laughing, crying, and getting down right pissed off , but at the end it was all worth it.

I was captivated from the prologue and couldn’t put it down till the last word was written.

Writers put themselves out there with each story that is told and you can read and FEEL the personal connection Jaxson has to this story.

It’s ok to Love and feel pain.

Thank you for writing another great one!

The term "soulmates" is what came to me when reading about Crosby & Josie. Both have had devastating events in their lives, both are truly broken inside and they have a history, a very short one but memorable to both. I like that they didn't fall all over each other fast, it's a slow burn to get them on the same page but when they are together, wow! Jaxson definitely knows how to write a love scene.
Supporting characters include Meadow, Josie's niece who brings smiles to every scene she steals. Heartbreaking and Heartwarming.

Wow!!! What can I say?

This review didn't come easily. How do you do justice to a story that is so heartfelt, with such raw, deep and soulful emotions from start to finish?
My heart hurt and broke for not only Crosby, but Cindi and Noah too. How do you recover from such a tradegy?
Jaxson has such a magical way with his words, they weave into your heart and soul. Highly recommended, but a warning......a box of tissues may be required!

It grabbed my attention and I didn't want to put it down. It was a fun read, characters I loved and they are not perfect. Jaxson writes characters that feel real. A compelling story and his voice simply captures your heart.

This book! I can't begin to describe how powerful this love story is. I have read just a little about the book and I knew right away this book was going to affect me and my heart strings will be pulled. How can you get over a past trauma? How can you stop grieving? Do you ever stop grieving? Will you ever stop feeling guilty? Josie, it's okay to still have feelings for a loved one. Everyone grieve in their own way and in their own time. This book hit so close to home. I felt the grieving and hurt and feeling broken throughout the book. This book will affect you and pull at your heart. Make sure you have tissues nearby. Jaxson, I'm truly in awe of your writing.

Jaxson has done it again! From the beginning, he pulls you in and keeps your heart on edge. This isn’t your typical one hero book. This book follows the journey of two souls, lost, searching for their counterparts. Getting Over You will make your heart hurt and then it will make it burst with love. Trust me on this one! You CANNOT miss this book!

Such a breathtaking book about trying to get over the pain that is so hard to leave behind. Crosby & Josie each have pain hidden that they can’t release. As they get to know each other & trust each other it seems to get better. One thing happens & questions everything they’ve been building. A definite must read. You won’t be disappointed at all.

Love and fate

Crosby and Josie, two broken souls who refund each other after a number of years.
They have a flighty, flirty, and sexy relationship that turns romantic and love.
Come and find out how they resolve their issues , their family closures and the rest of their lives.
This story was emotional but beautifully written. I would definitely recommend.

We all have a few one-click authors and this is one of mine, I don’t need to read blurbs or make a decision based on a cover. I haven’t been let down yet and I’d say this book is one of his best. Another emotionally charged book and the main characters are not only broken but flawed in their way of thinking. It takes both of their tattered and bruised souls to heal each other’s broken hearts. They guide each other from the darkness into the light.

Crosby sits on his balcony playing his guitar and watching the girl next door sit and paint. Although he looks for her at school he can never find her and then she’s gone. He takes looking after his little sister seriously, until the worst day of his life. Losing himself in grief and pain, his life will never be the same. He chooses to punish himself by closing himself off to those who matter.

Josie sat painting, watching the boy next door sit on his balcony playing guitar. They never met, didn’t exchange names or talk. Then she had to return home. She finds herself caught up in a family which is dysfunctional, each generation keeps making the same mistakes. All she has left is grief, painting and Meadow her niece. Josie sneaks out to smoke in her car because Meadow hates it. Who knew her saviour would come running over the horizon.

This book was magic on a totally relatable level! Jaxson Kidman wrote an amazingly breathtaking story that you feel deep in your soul. He told Crosby and Josie’s story perfectly, my heart broke at times for them both but with each other they were able to move forward, find love and a life together that completed each other. Their story was an honest portrayal of the ups and downs of life, the good and bad, trying to move forward but the past always holding you back in some small way. This book is one of those that you feel is so real and stays with you long after you have finished the last page. With each book Jaxson Kidman writes he becomes one of my favorite authors. His writing is amazing, he pours everything into his stories, they are emotional, soul searching and deals with family issues , with loss and the uncertainty that life throws to each of us at one time or another. Jaxson Kidman thank you for sharing this story with us your readers. Get your copy today you will not be sorry!
