I guess you could say I was looking to "wrap up" my evening with some light reading! This was a cute collection of riddles and jokes, although, I feel like some of the punchlines might be lost on children. I remember reading this one when I was a little bookworm, and had enjoyed it immensely. It was fun getting the chance to pick up an old read and see that it was still a good read, too.

I'm not sure if all kids go through this or if it was just me, but I definitely had a "joke book" phase where I got as many books on jokes or riddles as I could get my hands on. This was just one of many, but it was definitely a favorite.

Fun riddles with a mummy theme. These are probably best for older children, as the puns and word play might be a bit sophisticated for younger audiences. I explained quite a few of the riddles to our girls, and they liked them even if they didn't understand them all. It's not specifically about Halloween, but it's a perfect time of year to read this book.

We've borrowed this book several times and our girls love that they can read the whole book themselves. The second time around, I didn't have to explain as many of them, so they are starting to understand the puns. We've also discovered other books by the same authors, including Bunny Riddles, Chickie Riddles, Creepy Riddles, and Kitty Riddles. There are even more and I'm sure our girls will want to read them all!

June 2012 update: Our youngest just loves this book; she has read it aloud and to herself several times.

This would probably be hilarious for 6-8 year olds, but my LO is only just starting to show an interest in word plays so explaining how riddles work made it much funnier to me. He took it very seriously.

Mummy Riddles is a very funny book.
I like the part that said "Does the mummy football team lose manny games? No, they always tie up the score.
