Rate this book

Marcus and his best friend Taj have never been great at basketball. But during the final game of the season, their coach finally gives them the chance to play. As the minutes count down, Marcus chokes and misses his shot while Taj saves the day with a buzzer-beater. That night Marcus receives a text from an unknown number asking if he would like a do-over. He accepts and gets to relive the game and make the winning shot. But will correcting his mistake be worth taking away his best friend's moment to shine?

The Come Up

The book starts when a man named Marcus has a life changing moment and can’t come back from it. It all started with the main character named Marcus taking a game changing shot. He missed the shot and his scholarships dropped. He learned a lot and this book taught me a lot about real life and how one incident can change your life in 2 seconds. I watched a man with everything lose everything in one shot.
In this book I liked the story and plot line of it. Some books don’t understand how to keep a book interesting like when they explained he was living in his parents house trying to find what to do next because of one changing moment. Giving a man an opportunity can be a great thing is something they also did in the book. When this one college gave him a chance he turned out to become the best player on their team. And other teams wanted him but he declined and stayed on the team that gave him a chance.
In conclusion you should always give someone an opportunity even if they did make a mistake in their life. This book showed me a lot about being hard working even when the hard times come.

“Marcus hated that fixing his big mistake had left Taj feeling like his own mistakes defined him. Now Taj felt like a loser - the way Marcus had before.”

Etwas, was er Taj damit vereiteln würde.

A really good story for those teenagers who don't particularly like to read, especially if they like sports.
Marcus and Taj have been friends for ever. They are high school seniors and this is their last year to play in the school basketball team. They usually both sit on the bench, not starting the game, ever.
The last game of the season, finds them both getting the opportunity to play. They both make mistakes in the game, however Marcus feels he let the side down.
When he is mysteriously given a chance to replay the game, what will happen?

I really enjoyed this book. It's a great pick for YA readers who like sports/basketball and/or stories about good friendships put to the test. Loved the well-drawn relationship between the two boys. As a device, the do-over ended up being really effective and thought-provoking. Recommend!

The book was pretty good, but I dont think I would be quick to reccomend it to anyone. I think this book is good, but it wasnt really the best. I think that the book went way to fast and didnt go into as much detail as they should have.

Keep in mind this book is geared toward High/Low (reluctant) readers. Having said that it is still a delightful and thought provoking story with interesting characters. It would be great for young readers who want something lively and basketball themed.

I think that it was good because it showed that you shouldn't take anything for granted
