This is where I introduce myself… for a third time. Quite honestly, we’re past formalities now, so how about this instead: young woman, early twenties, special DNA, can often be found in a state of duress… or with four attractive men.

That’s pretty much the basics of my recollections these days. Last thing I remember is dancing the night away. The next morning, I wake up in an unfamiliar place and am told something terrible happened to me. However, no one knows the specifics, and the guys are being tight-lipped about what little information they do know.

When we finally learn what happened during those mysterious hours, the five of us are thrust into a situation we never would have imagined. The impact of this revelation blindsides us, and we all struggle with the knowledge.

Being in this new place also unearths some surprising information about my beaus’ pasts. Just when I am becoming more familiar with them, hidden truths bubble to the surface.

To top everything off, there’s a nationwide sweep, and our area is the next target. We have mere hours to make a decision: Do we stay? Or do we take to the road again?

*****

Trigger Warning: In 2044, while the world isn’t terribly different, human rights are. Our heroines and heroes in Her Reverse Genus find themselves thrust into one unfortunate event after another where they’re forced to explore varying degrees of highly triggering topics that some readers may find difficult to read. These topics include but are not limited to: gun violence, kidnapping, drugging, torture, abuse, discrimination, infertility, miscarriage, and non-consented medical procedures.

Adell Ryan is a hubby/wife pseudonym. Adell writes unconventional love stories about fierce women and their numerous male suitors. Because let's be honest, we need more than one to satisfy our multi-dimensional needs. Right? Ryan simply puts up with Adell's crazy fantasies and toots her horn regularly. Occasionally he'll add in a shoulder pat, and a deep, sexy "Damn that's good stuff."

That southern boy (bless him) stole this northern girl's heart and they live together in the deep south, raising their three boys. When Adell isn't writing she's homeschooling — primarily working on dictation, making sure they say 'creek' instead of 'crick' and 'fire' instead of 'fer.' She also dabbles in photography and graphic design. Oh yeah, and reading. Every. Night. Much to Ryan's dismay. Sometimes she puts the steamy stuff down and gives him a quick kiss on the forehead though.

This is going to be my last reading for this series. The h is one special snowflake. So here’s a list of things that irked me in this book and a bit from the last one.

• Tobias left her and then came back, all was forgiven even though he left her heartbroken. No grovel at all, she just accepted him back as if it was nothing. While her other guys gave him shit (thank god).

• Jax, his past was difficult to stomach (male entertainer, stripper) and his old “group” (other strippers, mostly women) he had slept his way through all of them. Not only did he introduce her to them, he still felt some connection to one of them. The group wanted him to go back to stripping (mostly the girls) and the h let him because that’s what he loves to do. (Big fat no from me especially since he was working closely to the other chicks that he had previously banged).

• Julian, he was my favorite in the previous books but in this book it seemed as though his issues were there just to be there. It was way different from his usual character, and his issue for needing space was dumb.

• Bram, honestly I don’t have much to say about him because the other three overshadowed him so I actually forgot about him at times. He was a bit like a side character.

• And last but not least, our special snowflake of a h. She just got back from being held captive and what does she do within the next day or so? Fuck her men senseless that’s what. She was apparently so traumatized and had to be resting but once her men came into her line of view, the lust won over. She didn’t even go see the doctor either till a few days after her fuck fest with the guys. Nope nope nope. I won’t be continuing this series.

Resistant is the third book in the Her Reverse Genus series and they must be read in order - if you haven’t read books 1 & 2 there will be slight spoilers for those books mentioned in this review.

The entire series and its focus on genetics is still one of the most interesting reverse harem (RH) plots out there and I love that. Book 3 picks up immediately after the ending of book 2 with the team in the new Underground location. I absolutely loved this location and all of its features, rooms, and how it is ran. Any time a book has a unique location like this I am a happy reader.
I did struggle with some of the story elements, things I don’t want to spoil here - some things just didn’t seem true to the characters or seemed like they came out of nowhere (though admittedly I didn’t do a re-read of the first two books and it has been a while since I read them so definitely could be forgetting something or have missed some foreshadowing). I also wasn’t personally a fan of the timing of a couple of things that happened. I enjoy this author’s writing very much - it has an intelligence that I don’t consistently find in other RH books, however, sometimes I love the extra oomph of some of the vocabulary, and other times I find it unnecessary or too wordy for the flow.
I appreciated the length of this book and the answers we got in it - and oh, what doozies they are! I’m very interested in the Roux storyline, loved the new character Auden, and enjoy the complexities of Jax’s history and how it illustrates that things aren’t ONLY about genetics. And it probably goes without saying that of course, I am always looking forward to more of my man Tobias (just call me Ruby, haha) The ending isn’t really a cliffhanger to my mind, but it does leave you ready for the next book.

Once, long ago, I asked for recommendations. My basic wishes: Intelligent characters, an intelligent plot and some nice guys. One of the series I was recommended was this one and the first two books did not disappoint. Therefore I was quite excited to start the third book. Especially since the last book ended with quite a cliffhanger and I was quite curious how it would continue and what had actually happened in the finale of the last book.

It took quite some time before that answer came. That's the case with this series in general. Ryan takes her time to build the relationships between the characters, to build her world and to show us what is really going on. She does it however in such a way that it never gets boring. Even though it took a while before the answers came, the road to those answers was absolutely and totally worth it. The slow unfolding of the plot IS totally worth it.

This IS the kind of plot I love. The science behind it is so incredibly well done. It works, it makes sense, it fits. I attended med school for a few years and everything told and explained here lines up with everything I learned there. And that makes it so cool. It's so cool to discover what is happening, what those scientists are actually doing and what their goal is. I'm pretty sure we don't have all the answers yet, but I really can't wait to learn more.

And along the way we also get to know the characters much better. The characters might have had an instant connection in the first book, but the second and third book are really used to show more of who they actually are, what kind of life the had had before they met Thess and how they tick. And I really love how they all feel so realistic and how they all bring their own challenges. They're not perfect. They are struggling and they have problems to overcome.

I already can't wait to read the next one!

This series has been amazing so far! I finished book two and three within the same day. The story about this crazy DNA stuff in the future has sucked me in. The chemistry between Thessaly and the guys has been crazy hot. The sexual tension has been through the roof especially with Jax. Jesus. I’ve never read another series quite like this and I’ve loved every minute of it. Amazing writing!

So I thought the series started out okay. It had potential and the writing wasn’t too shabby! However....I couldn’t get into it. Book 2 was a struggle and now I’m almost half way through book 3 and it’s a snore-fest. All the books were relatively anticlimactic and I just couldn’t take it anymore.

The premise for a good.....”paranormal”? RH was there, just didn’t quite make it.

Here’s some things I didn’t like from this book and a few from book two.

Tobias left her for a dumb reason. He came back though & all was immediately forgiven.

I did not like the Jax parts in this book. His baggage shows up. Turns out he was a very popular stripper before they all found each other. Oh and his old work strippers, all of but 1 are women are there. Oh & he slept with all of them but hooked up a lot with one who is a major B. Not only did he introduce the FMC to these girls, and let her know hey I’ve slept with the group of nice looking strippers and oh I wanna go back to stripping with them. He also has a connection to the B cause they are also reverse matches or whatever. The FMC lets him strip cause that’s what he wants and enjoys. So he grinds up on women and they touch him and it affects him so they have to have sex cause stripping makes him hard and in the mood. Not only is he working with a large group of women he’s been with and has other women all over him, he has his girl take care of the feelings he gets from them. And then even the FMC gets into stripping. I didn’t like the whole ark and thought it was unneeded page filler. It also made me dislike Jax.

Julian all of a sudden has serious anger issues. It was way different from his usual character, and he hurts the FMC by taking space and ignoring her cause he doesn’t want to get angry and hurt her.

Bram gets overshadowed by the other boyfriends so I actually forgot about him until he’d show back up. He was more of a side character then her best friend & boyfriend.

And the FMC was also a bit annoying and cliched. She’s held captive and doesn’t remember anything, so what does she do when she gets back?
Did you guess, have sex? Ding ding, you got it.
She has memory loss and keeps forgetting what they do and say but she still manages to have sex like the day after she gets back. She had a procedure done to her & didn’t even go see the doctor for a few days to see what procedure have been done to her.
Turns out they drugged her so they could inseminate her. She doesn’t want to be pregnant so she has Bram make her a concoction to abort the baby. Refuses to get a test or anything cause she knows she’s pregnant but if she has that proof, it’s abortion which she can’t handle. As long as she doesn’t have proof it’s all ok. Yet she knows she’s pregnant cause she feels the embryo implant. Abortion is abortion whether you have scientific proof or not. Killing a baby is never ok. Never! This almost made me stop reading. And if it’s talked about much in the next book I will stop.

I want to start off by saying......YOU MUST READ SERIES IN ORDER. This is a story where the next book starts where the one before ended. Without having read Perfect and Broken; the reader will not understand all the situations and what has transpired up to this point.

Now that I have said that:

Resistant is one of my anticipated reads for 2019 since reading Broken. I was so excited to see that the author didn't disappoint and gave me some of the answers I had from first two books. Even though it is set in the future, it is a sci-fi reverse harem that will make you feel as if the sweep is going on right now. It feels real so the reader can actually picture what is happening. Where the other two books were more action, this book shows the relationships building and secrets from their individual pasts coming to light. I almost felt as if this book is more about the relationships than the special DNA. But for me it worked. Don't get me wrong, there is drama regarding their DNA but not as prominent as the first two books. It shows that it takes more than DNA to make things work. It gives us a chance to get a deeper understanding of the guys for who they are and how Thessaly becomes stronger through her building relationships with each of them.

So expect drama, chemistry, good vs evil, and surprises you won't see coming.

Read to find out......Does DNA alone decide our fates or do we still have freewill to decide who we are meant to be or with?

I have been patiently/not so patiently waiting for this book for a bit now and I am happy to say that it was beyond worth the wait! I finally got some of the questions that arose in Broken answered and was quite happy with how that whole scenario played out. It was nice to see the guys rallying around Thessaly to support her during a very difficult time, even if I wanted to drop kick Julian for a while. This book had the whole range of emotions from happy to sad to mad, and I was happy to see how strong Thessaly had become by the end of the book. She is definitely in a tough spot, but she has found her voice and is ready to fight harder for what she wants and that makes me incredibly happy. I love how her connections to each of the guys has become stronger and deeper as they go through the different experiences together. I cannot wait to see what is in store for me when book four comes out.

I freaking love this series

I love Thess and the guys and after the way book two ended I was more than eager to read this. I needed to know what happened to Thess in that operating room and I just had to know how she and Julian were going to deal with all that happened to them in that facility. And wouldn't you know it, the lovely Mrs. Adell Ryan answered those questions and have me so many more in their place! I have been absolutely in love with these characters and this storyline since the very beginning and it only keeps getting better. I love the science, These and her snarky comments, Robbie and his resistance and getting to know each of the guys better and better and read how their bonds continue to grow. The writing is brilliant, the attention to detail is amazing and the utter uniqueness of this series is breathtaking. I'm always left guess where Adell will take us next.

I feel like this series just keeps getting better and better. Just when I think it can't get any better it does. I love all the depth in this book, truly I do. But we all know why I'm here. THE SWOONS! This book brings the swoon, the romance, the love, and some definite STEAM. I finished the book last night and felt such a book hangover. The feeling where you drop your kindle and stare aimlessly into the sky because the book was so freaking good you don't know how you to move on from that moment. Where you want to immediately start all over because you already miss the characters. Like I miss Jax soooo much it's ridiculous. He isn't real Julia, he isn't real. Overall the love factor for me was fire. So much fire. 5/5 hearts. 5/5 fires. 5/5 stars. What are you still doing here?! Buy this book!!! :)

Continuing on with the adventures of Thessaly and her guys in book 3. Some parts of this book were hard to read as the characters go through some of life’s hardest challenges, but the story is worth reading and Adell Ryan made sure to warn her readers in advance. I know the end book will provide some answers if not a happy ending for all. I purposely have avoided reading any spoilers about the series, wanting to experience every nail-biting or spit-my-drink-out-laughing moment for myself. I do have to say that it has provided my brain a good distraction from what real life is offering. The writing style flows smoothly, even when I have to Google a word to find out what it means. By the way, I would like a Julian of my own.

very rarely I don't finish series even IF i don't love them I see them through to the end. even if it means skimming through the books.
I really enjoyed the first book, second book didnt love, and after the first few chapters decided to give up.
It's not bad, and she is a good writer, but I just dont care for the story any longer or the characters.
I read toooo many RH books as it is, and I know my taste when it comes to them. I need a very good plot with a good group of guys for the main girl. For me this wasnt it.

Holy crap that ending messed with my head. I'm practically salivating for book four. I loved this book and couldn't put it down. Finally we get some answers and they are horrifying. Thessaly and her guys face new problems while getting to know the underground resistance. They also get to know each other much better *fanning myself* just prepare to take an ice cold shower.

I highly recommend this series. You won't be disappointed.

This book is Genus! I mean genius!

If you are looking for a great series to read them this is the one. Start in order or you will be lost. I have not once been let down. If you don't like a good story line, a quirky MC, and men that are swoon worthy then this is probably not the book for you.

Did not disappoint

This installment is my favorite yet. We learn a lot about the guys and Robbie. And I love what I learned. There is also a growth between the group that makes this book amazing. They are all finally getting to be real, letting their true selves come to light, whether positive or negative. I can't wait for the next book. I need more Tobias.

Well, Thessaly and her guys are in the resistance. She has a lasting effect from her last visit with Zinna. Bran and his medicinal knowledge help her out with her health.

All of her guys are loving on her, and seriously making every red-blooded woman crazy with jealousy. Swoon!

On to the next.

Resistant, book 3 of Her Reverse Genus series seemed to go for the shocks rather than the tension of the prior books. Some reveals were unsurprising, but there were plenty of twists to keep me reading, just in case I guessed wrong. Great reading.

Amazing read, a world steaminess. While battling something so close to reality, I couldn't imagine what I would do in that situation. Couldn't put it down from wanting to know what happens next so much! On to the next book in the series.

I'm eating it up! At least, now we have more answers if not, all the answers. Also, between book 2 and 3, the lady turned into a hoe as I requested.

Let's see what happens next.

P.s. I think Roux is one of her blood match. I think they'll introduce that as a plot twist.
