F. E. Bradley grew up on a small family farm in Central Wisconsin. She spent much of her young life surrounded by farm animal pets and books. She first read Oscar Wilde's 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' at the age of 17 precisely because it was on her high school’s list of banned books. She loved the character but imagined him in a very different story. 20 years later, she finally began to write that story down for others to share. 'Lucky, Dorian Gray Novels Book 1' was published in the spring of 2019. The second book of the series 'Destined, Dorian Gray Novels Book 2' is due to publish in the spring of 2020
I liked the local references in this book and I'll continue the series when the next book comes out...but overall I just thought it was OK. Didnt grab me like some other fantasy series have.
Romance a cursed man and a woman with unexplained powers
This story is told from the point of view of a college student named Lucky. In college, she meets Dorian Smith. She's inexorably drawn towards him and attracted to him. Dorian has a curse that was put on him. In the 1800s. Lucky discovers about the curse when she touches him, and he's surprised that she isn't killed from his touch. They tentatively start a relationship. No one can understand s why Lucky's touch has this effect. During their relationship they go through some dangerous experiences. I absolutely love the story. It's very creative, and has romance and drama. I read the book in one sitting, because I had to find out what happened next. I followed the author immediately after. This is a story for anyone that loves romance and mystical books.
A delightful read! I didn't know quite what to expect, as I have not read Oscar Wilde's Dorian Gray. In a way, I'm glad that I haven't as I did not have any real expectations going in with this book.
The author has taken Dorian Gray from his past life and placed him in modern times where he meets a young naive college freshman. The story held my attention throughout, as I was trying to understand her role in his story. The elements of danger, magic, and love captured my attention.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for the purpose of this review.
I loved this book! Now, if I’m being honest, usually YA fantasy type books aren’t my thing. (I did enjoy the Twilight series but can’t do HP.) So I wasn’t sure how this was going to shake out for me but I was hooked almost immediately! And the second half of the book I read in one sitting because I couldn’t stop! The only disappointment is that I have to wait until next year for book #2. The ladies in my book club are going to LOVE this book and I can’t wait for them to read it!
It was a fun read. I liked how the author breathed fresh air into a classic character like Dorian Grey and we are able to see this through a young college aged woman. It kept me guessing on what direction this story was going. I loved the setting of Wisconsin. I enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see what adventures await these characters. Thanks E
