How do you kill something that is already dead?
In this third-person, multiple points of view short by International Bestselling Author Sian B. Claven we return to the Metz home but not with the Metz family.
Using the house as a temporary location before they find their forever home, Robbie and Diana just want to get in and get out. Mysterious things happen around the house though and just as suddenly people start dropping like flies.
Scared for their family’s safety, Robyn haunts the house to protect the children from The Butcher who has his own intentions.
Diana doesn’t know what to do about the situation at all.
Her baby is seeing something that isn’t there.
Her eldest twin is constantly angry and skinning animals, playing with knives.
Her middle child has completely withdrawn within himself.
Sylvana is called upon to answer some questions, but no one living called her.
The third Butcher Book comes spinning from a different angle, ready to shock and thrill you in a different way than the first two did. Fans of paranormal thrillers should begin the series, starting with Tatum.

I had to read this book which screamed horror from its cover and its blurb. In fact, with great trepidation, I opened the first page and started reading, and I couldn’t seem to stop. Every line spoke about a macabre so horrific that it brought shivers down my spine. My breath hitched, and I was sure I would get nightmares tonight.

The story went thus, a new family moved into the house where a serial killer, The Butcher, was killed. The spirits of the killer and his victims were still present in that home. The murders started again and the Butcher was gaining power. Apparently, only Sylvana, the owner of the house, could now save the family.

This was book 3 in the series by author Sian B Claven, and I haven’t read the previous two books. I did get a gist of the earlier stories in this one. It was quite chilling. To see the copy-cat murderer starting it all, killing the victims with a katana was quite stomach churning. I kept wondering where the book would end. It was quite a ride to read those scenes. Whew!! All good!

Then came my niggles, the story focused so much on the murders that the basic plot of the story felt lost. I wanted the book to concentrate on Sylvana as it was her story, but she was kind of sidelined. That brought the fun down for me.

Overall, a good fast one hour read, but something told me that there would be side-effects after the lights were out.

Sylvana is the third novel in the Butcher series as the story continues. If you thought the Butcher was gone after the end of Kallista, you were wrong! The Butcher is back!

Many people have tried to move into the Metz house and failed, and now we have a new family who is temporarily moving in until they can get settled in the area. Uh oh- there were murders in the house: But there is nothing to worry about because the killer is also dead…Or is he? Diana and Robbie along with their three children are the focus of Sylvana while Sylvana herself is a minor character. No one living or otherwise rests easily in the Metz house. Please keep in mind that there is a paranormal take in this series, it’s not just a serial killer series!

As with the other novellas in the series, the violence is present and parts are surprising! It is a quick read/listen and there is seemingly a conclusion as it seemed that Claven was winding down the Butcher series. But surprise: There is one more novel out called The Lady Butcher, so it seems like our killer’s story continues yet again! This last one is not currently available on audio, but I already have it on my kindle. I will be reading this one very soon.

I also have Sylvana on kindle, but Claven was kind enough to send me the audible copy to listen to, which I started right after finishing Kallista. As with the previous novellas Jacq Ainsworth narrated. While she has done a good job previously, her voice of Charlie rubbed my ears the wrong way. Yes, Charlie is a small child, but her narration of this character didn’t work for me as Charlie’s voice was irritating for me. It could be because I do have a hearing issue and the higher octave sounds can hurt my hearing. Otherwise the narration was fine!

I have enjoyed this series and look forward to The Lady Butcher and the final conclusion to the Butcher series. (Or will it be the conclusion???)

I am hooked on the horror stories that Sian Claven is writing and this one lives up to what I expected. It’s creepy, gory and will keep you up at night. The scary person may not always be under your bed but walking amongst you.
This is the finale in the Butcher series and I’m just a bit sad that it has ended but in saying that I’m excited to see just what she is going to surprise us with next.

So this was a short and quick read (almost but not quite in the short story category). It was "fun" and I enjoyed it as a bit of light distraction. It felt a bit repetitive and there was almost zero character development (which was OK, because it relied a lot on the characters from the previous books). No cliffhanger endings either, so you won't feel compelled to get the next book.

(Side note: I see Goodreads has this as book #2 but Amazon Kindle has it as book #3 - which is a little confusing.)

This book had me hooked from the start. It is a creepy read, but so good. Love the writing and this story.
Sian really can and will take you out of your comfort zone. She just has a way with her words that have you hooked from the start, wondering where the story is going to go.

Great ending to the series I just hope that there was not so many wonderful souls lost to a madman. But he finally had what he deserved and I hope the people of Lakefield has finally find peace from the butcher.

Such a good finale to the series. Nice little twist with the family dynamics and who the evil one turns out to be. The good versus evil battle is brought to a very clean end with all loose ends tied up. This author has such a good way of world building and getting you to care for the characters. I’m definitely going to check out her back catalogue

A chilling and gripping finale to the Butcher Series

Have you ever sat shivering in your safe place afraid of those around you? I bet you read Sian Claven. This finale was a page turner, read in one sitting. It will have you cringing, crying and gasping. This author has an impossible talent that is comparable to Stephen King hands down. As expected I did not sleep soundly. But do I want more? Yes!!!

The Metz family is in trouble. The third book in The Butcher series. A family moves into the house where The Butcher was killed and his victims haunt. Warning: Don't fall for any of these characters. You don't know if they will survive! Creepy, violent, gory, haunting. This felt like a conclusion, but seems there is one more book. The Lady Butcher. Agh!

I was gifted an Audible version of this book from the author through Story Origin. Jack Ainsworth has narrated all three books. She does a swell job with this gory, creepy subject matter. This book has multiple POVs and she was great.

After reading Kallista and the way it ended I could not wait to read Sylvana. It started out slow at first but it picked up and once Robyn started showing up more frequently I knew it was going to be intense. I love this series and I will definitely recommend it.
